  1. rayaustin0081, Welcome to the FMCA Forum. Has the differential oil been changed? Has your mechanic taken a look at your rear axle? Strange sounds coming from the rear axle or differential should be checked by a qualified mechanic.. Not sure the RV chassis come with limited slip differentials. The rear axle on your coach came with a synthetic oil and should last for 200,000 plus miles, but under dirty conditions that number is reduced. Weight axle can handle 16,500lbs. Rich
  2. Well ! After weeks of trying to get the old computer working, I have slowly been getting different systems up and running. No joy when one is totally floating in never never land. Living in a little black box and not from note pads has its down side for sure !!!! Still need to get some drivers loaded for most of the extra items and add ons I have, but internet service is working and with some help from FMCA IT dept. just logged on to the Forum for the first time in weeks. Still need to get some of the nice little items like spell check going, then on to reloading all my file folders and the information they contain from the back up drive. Realy hopping that they are all safe on the external hard drive - got my fingers crossed. So if I'm slow getting back to members asking about questions and that information is hiding somewhere on the drive. I just hope that with all the members using this resource, some one can supply the needed answer(s). Happy and Safe travels with very few problems to all. Rich.
  3. Camping World update: The CW store in our area is closing and the original family that owned this location is reopening it with there original name. While talking to some of the personnel, many are pleased and some of the original employees that worker or where transferred to other CW locations are returning. There grand opening will be Nov.1st. I'm sure there will be some loose ends to tie up, but all an all I have a feeling it will be run with the customers winning. Rich.
  4. Well ! After many weeks of trying to find XZE or XRV tires, I got three to replace and match up with the three that I found last year ! I had all but given up any possibility after our local dealer said they had some and 2 days later a call saying they where all gone. Bummer !!! Later in the week I made one more call, as my computer has been very sporadic when connected to the internet for weeks; to get the load range for the XRV tires confirmed. OH! was the reply !!! You have been looking for them and we got 10 in yesterday. Do you still want some? YES please I will take 3! 36 hrs later I picked up the tires before they went missing again. They informed me that the remaining tires where sold, and had others interested in the remaining 3 if I did not pick them up. Just pure luck, no other way to say it !! Now it looks like we can find a warmer location(s) as winter settles in and there is the possibility to do some electronic repairs, if I want to work close to a campground. Life is sure fickled Rich.
  5. gaylemarlowe, Take a close look at the point where the connector for the sender wire(s) are crimped to the connector. At times there is more insulation then wire crimped to the connection and they fail to make contact, do to oxidation or the few wires that where making contact brake. ECMs work on 5 volt signals (voltage) Remove the oil sender connection. Have a helper watch the pressure gauge (with the ignition on) Do Not Start the engine. Connect a single 1.5 volt battery between ground and the sender connection and see what the oil pressure gauge reads. Ground is negative and the positive goes to the signal wire for the pressure sender. You should see the gauge read a pressure if the wiring is working. No reading then I would have the wiring between the sender and the ECM oil pressure input signal pin checked. Rich.

    batsome, A wheel rotation sender(s) could be the problem. Rust buildup between the sender and the spindle hub where they mount can slowly increase the distance between the sender and the pulse ring. This resulted in a weak signal, that causes an issue with the system not knowing the wheels are turning. You might want a Tech to check things if that type of work is not one of your skill sets. One does not want to get dirt into the bearing while cleaning, repainting and resealing the area. Rich.
  7. Tom, Just got back on the internet today for the first time in weeks. Lost the internal WiFi transmitter - that was very intermittent and not real easy to replace, so I got one that uses any USB port. I have never been a fan of intermittent problems. Glad you got around the loop with no real issue(s). As you mentioned the area is far from being over developed. Real glad you enjoyed the trip. It is an area that many will just avoid and miss so much. The French do not make it easy in regards to translating information into any other language. You might have experienced a few times that if you struggle or attempt to speak French, that many will then speak very good English. Rich.

  9. Castle3, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! The Dash AC Dryer is often located at the front of the coach, real close to the point where the low side line enters the blower box for the Cooling and heater. Could be located under the dash on the inside = passenger side, but you might want to give Monaco a call and get the location from them. From your description you could have a defective expansion valve or orifice tube. (Plugged) Rich.
  10. Dan, Many of the coach chassis are setup with 2 access points. The rear connection is frequently located real close to the engine, so the technicians can read engine signals while working on them. One in the engine area and the one upfront at the drivers location. Rich.
  11. Dan, Sure sounds like a communication problem, But have you used the setup screen and pressed more, more, more and get display changes? Is this a new unit? Problem Possible Cause Solutions Connects and then goes to sleep after 10 to 15 seconds Engine is not running ? Start engine.   12. cdfendley. There are a number of members from Texas and I'm sure one or two will have some good information for you! We run the generator when the Dash AC dies and power up the Roof AC's. Much better then traveling in a hot coach ! Go through Texarkana on or way to A and M or on to San Antonio. Rich.
  13. cdfendley, The dryer for the dash AC units on most Diesel pushers are located up front next to the evaporator. Very unlikely any dryer parts got into the compressor. They are very tough mechanically and have no moving parts. Compressors lock up generally do to loose of oil caused by a leak in the system. The lines for the High and Low side of the system run along the frame rails and if your shop does not know the difference between the air and hydraulic lines. Things could get expensive very fast. What part of the country do you call home? There is a good chance that one of the Forum members could give you a possible option or two. Rich.
  14. Ah yes, Dave is a little like Merlin ! When you turn him loose on a Diesel engine. He hooks up his equipment, mixes up one of his potions and the engine does not stand a chance.   15. jengle, Welcome to the FMCA Forum ! I have not installed a wireless key entry in a coach not equipped with one. But! You will need to find a way to run some wires for power and ground through the door frame. Installing wires where they flex or bend every time will brake them in relatively short order. RV doors do not have the space between the door and the door frame like cars, that adds an area for the wires to move around more freely. Look and find some brass contacts to mount in the door frame and the door, so they make contact. Spring loaded ones on one side of the setup would be a good idea. The standard configuration is stationary ones in the door frame and spring loaded contacts on the door. The lock set should still use a key setup, not good to come back to the coach and have a dead battery or fob. An have all the windows locked. When coaches are buttoned up they can be very difficult to get into !!!! Rich.
  16. Brad, Good information already posted. I have had a thermostat fail(the spring retaining metal hoop failed at the top) this allowed the valve to twist sideways. Almost a total blockage of coolant flow. The thing failed suddenly, no indication of a cooling problem before hand. Hope it is a simple and easy fix. Rich.
  17. expdek570, Welcome to the FMCA Forum! From your information, it sounds like there might have been some air in the system and it was replaced by the coolant in the overflow tank. When you filled the system to near the top, you might experience an over flow the next time you get the engine hot. I always fill my reservoir to just a little above the cold line and when the engine is hot the tank level is between 1/2 and 3/4 full. Keep an eye on the level for the next trip or two thought, just to make sure things are working properly. Rich.
  18. adrainey, When you turn on the hot water and you get good flow, then the water heater is filled to the proper level. Manually open the pressure relief valve to test that it does open and then seals again when released. Then turn on the water heater to check that it starts, heats the water and then turns off when water is hot. Should it cycle around 3 times and not start or stay lite, then one needs to do some trouble shooting. Rich.

  20. ObedB, Sounds like a plugged drain hole(s)in the AC base plate. This is a totally different problem then a rain leak because of an AC to roof seal failure. Water collects (condenses) on the low side pressure line and drips off into the pan/base. It then should run off, if the drains are plugged the water level will then enter the opening for the unit cold air output. Need to turn off the AC power breaker,remove the cover, inspect the base. The drains are often in the same area as the output and input copper plumbing, only higher. You might need to remove the cover for the evaporator and the opening for the cold air duct to get a good idea on where the drain restriction is - or the point in the base that might have some rust damage.   21. Tom, Measure the distance of the front and rear of the roller from the coach wall. When extended. If one end is farther from the wall, the fabric will not roll up evenly. Might need to completely unroll the fabric and get it nice and square in relation to the roller! Good time to check the extended distance from the top of the coach to the roller are equal; at both ends. Also,you might check the ends of each arm to make sure there are no issues with the bearing mounts at the ends of the support arms. Twisted, cracked or damaged in some way. Rich. NOTE, if you do not have a long ruler, a piece of string with a mark on it from one end - compared to the other will get you a close measurement comparison.
  22. My pet peeve is the use of copper clad steel wire in equipment that is exposed to vibration or areas where it is constantly being flexed. Been chasing broken wires that would last a long time if made out of 100% cooper. Bottom line looks good to the bean counters, but the buyer pays a price down the line. There are a number of recalls in the pipeline just because of poor wire selection. Rich.
