  1. We have spent many a weekend at the KOA in Newton Iowa. We have not noticed the sites to be any tighter or the roads to be any more difficult to navigate than many other KOA's that are just off the interstate.
  2. You are correct. Many folks other than RVers also rent tow dollies with surge brakes from Uhaul to tow their car behind their Uhaul truck as they move across Canada.
  3. That's 1 for Demco, 1 for Bkue Ox, and 1 for Road Master. Just keeping score...🙂
  4. Have had a Blue Ox for 14 + years. Latest Blue Ox inspection and tune up at the rally in 2016 in Springfield. No issues to date. IMHO they make a pretty good product!
  5. Have had both over the years, Road Master car mounted, and now a Blue Ox coach mounted. In the early years when we had the car mounted towbar, we would travel to our destination, unhook the toad, and then I would spend at least 20 minutes removing and storing the towbar. Once removed I was always left with "where to store the towbar". (I always removed it as we often wanted to run the toad thru a car wash). Usually I ended up storing the towbar on the ground under the MH. Secured it with a cable lock to the frame. Now we just unhook and fold the towbar against the RV. No need to lock, already held into the receiver with a locking pin. Takes less than a few minutes. IMHO the coach mounted option is the one to go for.
  6. We're partial to the 2016+ Chevy Colorado, 4 door Crew Cab, 4 x 4. lots of room for you and your friends, lots of room in the bed for your golf clubs or whatever.
  7. By the way Bill, thanks for the tip on this RV Park just outside of Ottawa. We often head into Ottawa for the weekend, would love to stay in the RV rather than a hotel. I didn't realize it was there.
  8. I'm thinking the $1.299 is in Canadian. We reside about 2 hours west of Ottawa and that's what it is here.
  9. Glad to hear that your slide issue is resolved! Thanks for letting us know.
  10. I have a 2010 Itasca Suncruiser 37f with the full wall slideput on the drivers side, same layout to the Adventurer. My slide is powered by powergear. I have some sync issues. Is this the same system? I do not have issues with it moving out after retracted. And no leaks.
  11. I take it by this you mean Miles Per Litre? that's pretty good, I barely get 2!
  12. A friend of mine got his new cards today for his renewal. Out of curiosity he decided to look at the coverage. While doing so he realized his plan no longer covered motorhomes. He called to enquire and they told him that you now have to order the "Auto and RV Platinum" package to get Motorhome coverage. All other packages are just for towables now. Apparently this changed mid year. At $159.95 a year, not so much of a deal!
  13. Yes, if my memory is correct, I believe it goes into effect 2 days after you sign up.
  14. I would say yes. In most provinces supplemental brakes are required on anything towed over 2000#. 1500# in some. Regarding desertdeals post above, commercial trailers requirements are totally different, more stringent, and don't apply to you.
  15. KL Parker, I could be wrong but will be interested to know how you make out.
  16. That's your issue, not enough juice in your batteries. Hydraulics will drain a fully charged battery in no time, never mind one that's down. Start you coach and try again.
  17. What model Itasca? I assume hydraulic powered slides? Do you run your MH engine when operating slides? If so,, have you checked your coach batteries? Sounds like a voltage issue to me.
  18. As mentioned in past posts, we have frequented Blue Beacons in our travels every year. Out of the dozens of washes we have had, only one bad experience similar to Brian's. Was at their Monee, Illinois location, I-57 at Exit 335. Most times they use brushes in combination with their sprayers in this instance they didn't. Needless to say I wasn't happy either so I emailed Blue Beacon at wash@BlueBeacon.com. to complain. Got a letter from their president apologizing and a free wash to make up for it.
  19. Rob, isn't your 2018 Thor Aria 3401 still under warranty? I would be taking it back to the dealer to fix before I started drilling holes and adding steel plates. just a thought..
  20. Another option is Blue Beacon Truck washes. about 100+ locations across the US and Canada. To find a location near you or on your travels, go to http://www.bluebeacon.com/ for more info or download the Blue Beacon Truck Washes app from Google Play or I tunes. Most are located right off the interstate. Our unit is 38 feet, with our toad about 62 ft. no issue getting both washed, usually runs about $50. They generally do a good job.
  21. Yup, been there, done that! We used to travel and sightsee 20 years ago just like Clark Griswold! On vacation we'd spend 2 or 3 weeks cramming in as much as possible. As it turns out, missed a lot of the really fun and interesting stuff! Much prefer a slower pace, way more fun!
