I'm not sure where you get your information, but you have a lot of misinformation regarding Maxxforce. Navastar's MaxxForce 10 engines have been used very successfully in motorhomes. Mine has 31,000 miles without a problem. Navastar has not started putting Cummins engines in their trucks. They had a problem with their higher end, over-the-road, engines meeting the EPA requirements using the same technology they have used successfully on the MaxxForce 10; therefore, they have adopted the Cummins exhaust technology in their larger engines. My MaxxForce 10 does not require DEF, and has significantly more torque (1150 lbs) compared to a Cummins of similar displacement.

Just read somewhere that the 2015 Honda CRV and Fit will not be 4 wheel towable.

I also had a failure of the diode in my heater. I took the old diode to Radio Shack and found a replacement. Replaced the diode and heater works fine. I also installed a switch in the heater bay that permits me to turn on the heater without the temperature being low enough to trip the disc switch. This allows me to test that the heater is in working order before a cold night. Otherwise, you turn the bay switch on inside, but you can't tell if the heater is in working order. I use this test procedure when I think the temperature may drop below freezing. Works well so far.

I have had one on my unit for over 2 1/2 years. Works better than advertised. Of course, if you have mechanical problems, it won't solve those.

I use a TPMS on my coach and toad. I feel it gives me an additional level of confidence that all is well. I use a separate gauge to fill my tires, and the sensors may vary by 1 to 2 psi. To me the primary purpose is to see pressure changes in relation to where the sensor was originally set. I'm looking out for the dangers related with low pressure. As to the temperature, again the readings are relative to each other. If one tire is getting out of range with the others then I likely have a problem. I have no expectation of exact readings for either psi or temperature.

With regard to the Prevost VIN requirement, there is an email address that you can send a request for a VIN that will get you in to the application. With regard to the Pilot/Flying J card, it is not a debit card. In the standard mode, $1,000 limit, you will be billed monthly, and then you will request a transfer from your account for payment. There is no automatic withdrawal. If you have the $2,500 credit limit, they will still notify you of the date scheduled for withdrawal; therefore, you can be sure you have the required funds in your account.

Black & Gray Tank Level Indicators Incorrect
wigginsjsr replied to brown774's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
It is not unusual for tank sensors to be incorrect. They often have debris on the contacts. There are many suggestions, but the one I use that works for me is to add a cup of PineSol to each tank before I travel. Each tank should be at least 1/3 full. While I travel, the solution cleans the sensor contacts. I don't know of a permanent solution other than installing external sensors. -
I use both the Prevost card for Loves and the GS card for Pilot/Flying J. Both work fine and permit you to fill in the truck lanes, with the faster flow rate, without having to go inside. I tend to use one of these all the time. Get 10 cents off the cash price at Loves, and 7 cents off the cash price at Pilot/Flying J. Occasionally I could find cheaper diesel, but if I save 3 cents on a 75 gallon fill, I've only saved $2.25 and I have to go inside, and run the risk of bad diesel. I "know" that these two brands have fresh diesel.

The manual for my 2011 Monaco Knight recommends pumping the brakes while holding the air dump switch to decrease the time required to dump all the air. If I do not pump the brakes, it takes a long time. My coach has hydraulic levelers, not air leveling.

Best Satellite Provider?
wigginsjsr replied to BruceDouglas's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
We use Dish both in MH and at stick house. When we are ready to travel we just move one Hopper and One Joey to the RV so each TV can watch the channel of their choice. Have found service to be excellent. We use the Winegard automatic antenna. Winegard now makes some less expensive automatic antennas for Dish. -
Looking For A Top Loaded Clothes Washer...2 cubic feet
wigginsjsr replied to pamkay0707's topic in Systems and Appliances
I believe Kenmore, Whirlpool or GE makes apartment size stackable units that are top loading. I suggest a Google search for apartment size, stackable w/d. -
You might want to consider Mustang Island as an alternative to South Padre. Several nice CGs; we think Pioneer Beach is the best. Nice beach, and close to Port Aransas and Aransas Pass. Plenty to do close by.

Equinox Turning Problems While Being Flat Towed
wigginsjsr replied to 13111lakeshore's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
I had a similar problem with my Saturn Vue, which is the Saturn version of the Equinox. It turned out to be the "steering rack". If there are problems with the power steering, it can contaminate the fluid in the rack making it hard to turn and return to the forward position. Do you notice that the steering does not return to center after making a turn a quick as normal? If so, that could be your problem. -
How Do You Know You Are Clear To Pull In After Passing?
wigginsjsr replied to kaelalynn's topic in Type A motorhomes
I suspect that all rear cameras do not have the same field of vision, but in my case, the field of vision is adequate to clearly determine when I have completed the pass of a vehicle. I also use my side mirror to make sure no vehicle has sneaked up beside me. If both indicate everything is clear, I then turn on my signal and return to my original lane. I can't imagine a scenario where the combined use of my mirror, and the camera, is not the safest option. -
I recommend Escapees mail service. We have used it for 5 years now. Very good and responsive.

I would be concerned about the 10 year old tires more than the uneven wear. I would get new tires and then have the alignment checked.

Have you considered changing to the Jack antenna. I did with really good results. Not having to raise and lower is a big benefit, but the reception has been great. The ability to use the tuning lights saves a lot of time and frustration. BTW, it will fit in the same hole as the old antenna.

I can't find where Progressive Industries makes a transfer switch. Could only find one made by Progressive Dynamics - seems to be different company.

El Paso Texas Road Closures-- I 10

I always use the 375 bypass around El Paso. Some road work, but I think it is a better option. -
Surge Protector - Suggestions for Buying a 50-Amp
wigginsjsr replied to jlandon13399's topic in Electrical
The hard wired Progressive is a lot less trouble than keeping up with a portable. It can always be uninstalled if you get a new coach. -
Yes, the seal could be damaged. I had that problem with mine. You will probably have to contact the coach manufacture to find who made the reservoir in order to order a replacement gasket.

Portable BBQ Grills For Carrying In RV
wigginsjsr replied to petersensrv's topic in General Discussion
After trying a number of grills, we settled on the Charbroil Grill2Go. It is small enough to store in a compartment, and uses infrared heat. Well built and inexpensive. http://www.amazon.com/Char-Broil-Infrared-Grill2Go-X200-Grill/dp/B00BFPMLI8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1402928504&sr=8-1&keywords=charbroil+grill2go -
This CG says it is about 9.5 miles away. Take a look http://www.hopevalleyresort.com/

Route 550 from Albuquerque to Silverton
wigginsjsr replied to klcracing's question in Destinations/Attractions
The road from Albuquerque to Aztec is about as gentle as a mountain road can be. Anyone competent to drive a MH should not have a problem, assuming it is a well maintained rig. Aztec to Durango presents more problems because it is mostly 2 lane. Once you go north from Durango is where the real mountain driving comes in.
