  1. Come on, who cares. Don't we all come to this forum dolling in hopes that some newbie will post a question that only we know the answer to? It's always disappointing when the OP does not respond but even so you, like me, will be back the next day hoping that someone new is going to post a question that only you know the answer to!
  2. All the roads in an out of the park are fine for any size RV but I would not recommend it as a way to get to all the various things to see.
  3. I have had mine for many months. Yes, it's unlimited (with a limit) and yes it's $20/month plus a couple of bucks in taxes. The first 22GB of data is at full speed and if you exceed 22GB in a month then your speeds "may be" reduced based upon network congestion. This means that if you are on a tower with a large number of users, the requests you send to the internet will be at the lowest priority of all other users on the same tower. Most users have not seen any noticeable slow downs but there's certainly no guarantee that you will get full speed everywhere every time if you exceed the 22GB/month threshold. I am currently sitting in Salina, KS for an overnight stop.
  4. You buy the surge protector that is appropriate for your coach. If your incoming power is limited to 30 amp (known as a 30 amp coach) then you buy a 30 amp surge protector. If you have a 50 amp coach you buy a 50 amp surge protector. No matter what adapters or dog bones you use to plug the coach into the available plug will have no effect on the surge protector.
  5. Try Bothel, WA. Lake Pleasant, I think. They will keep you plugged in to 15 amp while you are gone for around $5/day. Great place. That's assuming you are leaving from Seattle.
  6. https://harvesthosts.com/ Code of conduct. https://harvesthosts.com/code-of-conduct
  7. If you are in the Los Angeles / Arizona area I really would not be looking to TX to do this update. Maybe someone familiar with the area you plan to visit will be along to help.
  8. I does not need to be changed. I just like something more personal than a network identifier (SSID) that's something like ATT12345. It's just a thing but not a required thing. For me it's called Cat House ATT. I also have Cat House Sprint and Cat House Verizon. I always know what network I am using.
  9. Sounds like it's still apart. If so, take a picture so we can see where you stand.
  10. While you are in there you can set your own SSID and admin and WIFI passwords.
  11. I don't believe FMCA ever had an agreement/contract with Verizon that allowed them to re-sell the service but that was clearly FMCA's plan as the monthly payments were to be made to FMCA directly.
  12. Just open the browser on your computer. I think the default is 192.168.1.1 and enter the default user name and password listed on the Mobley. One of the options is to change the time out from 30 minutes to Never.
  13. As long as the topic remains open anyone who wants to comment can comment here. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If you want to vent, feel free. This is not Herman's (or my) forum.
  14. I have been around to watch 2 other VZ plans implode exactly as this one did. Now, in all 3 cases, Millenicom, OmniLynx and now FMCA, an agreement was made with VZ based upon a specific member base or terms of usage. Just like this VZ shut the plan down when it became obvious that the plan would not be used as agreed. When VZ got word that everyone, everywhere would qualify for this plan they shut it down. Surprise!
  15. Took me a few tries to figure out what BDing was. Silly me! On the other hand, are you saying that it will cost you $50/night to park your RV on a patch of dirt?
  16. Well, you should be! At least one poster said "I don't have an RV but I plan to get one in the future" and one said they that they have an RV but it would not quality for FMCA. FMCA has nothing in place to prevent anyone from anywhere from joining this group and that was the ultimate downfall of this agreement. Just look at the folks that are now demanding a dues refund from FMCA. They only joined FMCA to get the Verizon plan and now that the plan is not going to be available they have no interest in being associated with FMCA.
  17. This is NOT Verizon's fault. You can write anyone you like but that's not going to change the facts. FMCA told Verizon they wanted to offer a plan to their members and then Verizon started reading all those posts making it clear that FMCA had no plans in place to limit this plan to motorhome owners (or even RV owners) and they pulled the plan based upon faulty information. Verizon offers unlimited plans to a number of business interests but those businesses have a known number of employees. This is not that and I suspect that FMCA tried to convince Verizon that it was. I got lucky that it imploded so quickly as I had already called Sprint to cancel my truly unlimited plan in preparation for this plan. I was able to call Sprint and have them NOT cancel my plan. Had it gone a few days longer I would have been screwed twice!
  18. Brett, where are those other threads that were discussing the Verizon debacle? It does appear that the threads have been completely removed.
  19. The whole thing has been weird from the beginning starting when Herman mentioned the plan here but would only say to call the FMCA office. As things progressed and it went viral on the WWW it was clear the plan was doomed based upon the OmniLynx and Millenicom deals and FMCA's inability to control who became a member. I was only glad that it imploded early so the only real problem will be when the magazine comes out with the big announcement of a none existent member benefit.
  20. iRV2 is a for-profit business and, in my opinion, a poorly run site. If you do post something a moderator does not like or you disagree with a policy they ban you from the site rather than allowing a differing opinion. There are some who can do or say whatever they like and if you try to challenge them you are banned. It is a very heavy handed site so anything that they perceive might effect their earnings is deleted or the poster banned. I was a long time user before it was bought out but now you have to be one of the cool kids and do as you are told.
  21. Some joined who did not own a qualifying coach and some joined who don't have any RV at all. I suspect the plea to stay with FMCA will fall on a number of deaf ears.
  22. Apparently no one at FMCA can spell Millenicom or OmniLynx much less look into their history. How does that old expression go? If you fail to learn from history you are doomed to repeat it.
  23. I have NEVER seen a GFCI on a 30 amp or 50 amp circuit at any campground I have ever visited. I don't think the campground owner/host has a clue what he is talking about. Do you see the 2 little buttons on any outlet in the box other than 1 possibly being on the 15/20 amp plug?
