  1. For all Dome satellites they only received on satellite at a time. Domes programmed for DISh will get Satellites 110, 119 and 129 one at a time and most domes are automatic tracking. For DirecTV it is only one satellite, 119 and on SD not HD, whereas DISH gets both SD and HD from their satellites. The original poster does not indicate how old the antenna is that he has. Some of the older domes came programmed with only one of the providers, DISh, DirecTV, or Bell. When I had a KingDome back in 2007 there was a program stepping of the controller I had to go through to get DISH satellites. I never fooled with DirecTV so don't know. For the portable domes the are DIP Switch dependent and can be programmed for each service. If you have the book, look at the instructions and it should tell you. You can pull the dome off of the antenna and obtain the model number and then call KingDome. If you really want the best of all worlds replace the KingDome with the Winegard Traveler for either Dish or DirecTV. Each traveler for those service providers are different and receiver specific in some cases. Costs are going to be dependent on the service you may have now. If you have a Stick & Bricks house with satellite then a receiver for the RV, in the case of DISH Network, would be an extra $7 to $15 a month depending on the receiver. Seven dollars for Wally and $15 for Hopper, I think. Definitely $7 for extra Wally.
  2. Yes, we will be there from the 14th through 24th and leave on 25th for Fort Sam Houston. Yep, Mon through Thur to avoid the crowds. The river tour boat takes you back to the point you left from. I think there are two points of departure. When you get down to the River Walk, just ask anyone standing outside the restaurant that wants you to come in where the nearest one is. The tour boat does not stop. Just goes and comes back. There is a River Taxi that you can take and get of at different spots. I have never taken it so I don't know what the cost may be. It is just a ride between points and does not point out the different land marks like the tour boat does. Bill the tour boat ticket booth is where one can pick up the dinner cruise. It is the same boat as the tour boat but equipped for dining.
  3. Two toilets here, both Thetford macerators. From what I have been told a pedal push flush toilet has to be seated over the black tank so it has a direct downward drop into the tank. Macerator toilets can be anywhere. So I guess in Winnebago's wisdom of old craftsman the put the black tank in and then decided to put toilets in away from the black tank. Every time you flush a macerator toilet it is almost 1 gallon for the "little" flush, and a gallon or more for the "big" flush. We can go about 3 days maybe a wee bit more, without dumping the black tank. It is 51 gallons, but the grey is 71 gallons, go figure.
  4. Oh yes! Those lights are beautiful. If you go to the Buckhorn Museum make sure you go into the Texas Ranger's Museum part. Be sure to notice a book depicting the family of John Himes Livergood and his pistol. John Himes Livergood came to Texas just after "The Alamo," and was in many fights with Indians of the time. He was also on the Meir Expedtion. He was the first Justice of Lavaca County. He is Earlene's Great Great Grandfather. p.s., we will be in SA from April 25 through May 4th. Prior to that we will be in Johnson City from April 14th through 24th. Come on down!
  5. Roland, I suspect you will go into San Antonio and to the Alamo. If you have Disabled plates or sticker you can park anywhere there is a parking meter for free. (Yes, you can park in the non-metered spaces for free also - duh!) However, finding a parking spot is the trick. Directly behind the Alamo at the intersection of E. Houston St and Bonham street there is a parking lot. They charge $20 a day but it is an easy in and out and very convenient. You walk out of the parking lot and you are at the back wall of the Alamo. There is a back gate to the gardens and walkway. When you leave the Alamo at the front entrance into Alamo Plaza you can walk across the street and take the stairs, or the hotel elevator, down to the River Walk. In the least when you are on the River Walk take the boat ride. Worth the money, and not that expensive. Also while in the SA area take you car/truck and ride the Mission Trail. Stop at the missions and enjoy. The Alamo is one of the missions.
  6. She needs to send you outside to potty.
  7. Dang! Cool spell comin' through. Right now at 11:33 a.m. it is 66 degrees. Hope it goes up some.
  8. Going up to 83˚ here today. DBenoit - come on down!
  9. Well, I can tell you how to lock it. The 7 and 9 keys pressed at the same time. Call the manufacturer with the VIN and see if they can help.
  10. Richard, I would be extremely happy if all States performed in that manner. I am not against that technology but there are other states than NY that do not follow that regimen. It is also good that the DMV is so vigilant but again not all states follow that example. Until that process is followed, and more, then the potential to fake an ID is still there.
  11. I'd like to see one of those new fangeled certificates. Mine, DW's and kids are just pieces of notarized papers. When I was working I did forensic analysis on computers that were misused. On of such computers had several driver licenses on it, all with different names. The individual involved was just trying to show they were over 21 so they could get into establishments that sold liquor. No granted, those types of ID's are basically just scanned by eye and a wave through. However, I can tell you that those DL's would have passed any persons eye. I'm glad to see that they have made them more difficult to duplicate. However, if one thinks that the technology is so great then the technology for forgeries are just as great.
  12. Yes, I do understand that Bill. Not much conversation on the subject. Like I said, when I called last year they said "Go ahead." Just so we all understand that at any time they CAN pull us over and cite us. Personally I'd be more concerned about weight than length. the length of a vehicle doesn't damage roads, but weight can if the road is ot constructed correctly or is very old.
  13. Ah! The good ol' days of remembering 100's of phone numbers. Here, for you old timers: Pennsylvania 6-5000
  14. Birth certificates should not be allowed for ID purposes. Now-a-days home computers can make a copy look like an original.
  15. Don't y'all shoot the messenger, and I'm just the messenger. I have seen signs "No commercial vehicles," but I have not seen a sign stating longer than 55' excluded. They assume a lot thinking people read the rules on their web site.
  16. Sucks big time. The laws were written when motorhomes and toads were well under 55 feet. Strange is that the weight limitations are for commercial vehicles and commercial vehicles are not allowed on the Parkway. Go figure.
  17. Reply to my question. Read it and weep. " Thank you for your interest in the Natchez Trace Parkway. Hopefully I can clarify this. 1) The 40,000 pound limit only applies to commercial vehicles, which are not allowed anyway. RVs do not have a weight limit. We have removed this from our website. 2) The Natchez Trace Parkway is a national park and adheres to federal regulations. According to the Code of Federal Regulations, (CFR Title 36-Chapter 1-Part 4- §4.11 Load, weight and size limits. (a) Vehicle load, weight and size limits established by State law apply to a vehicle operated on a park road. However, the superintendent may designate more restrictive limits when appropriate for traffic safety or protection of the road surface. The superintendent may require a permit and establish conditions for the operation of a vehicle exceeding designated limits. You can access the entire CFR here: https://gov.ecfr.io/cgi-bin/ECFR In our Superintendent's Compendium, you will see where our superintendent designated more restrictive limits because our roads are only 11 feet wide, and the 55 foot length was determined to be the maximum safe length. We do not charge recreational vehicles with a weight restriction. I have copied and pasted the pertinent information from the compendium for you. (a)(1) Recreational and non-recreational hauling regulations: Hauling associated with recreational activities is intended to include activities such as camping, boating, horseback riding, and ATV use. Hauling of multiple pieces of recreational equipment on a single trailer is permitted provided the total vehicle and trailer length does not exceed 55 feet. 18. Erniee is going to tell you that you can't afford it.
  19. Here is a tip for anyone that makes something that may be "to" spicy (not for me, but DW) Add a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter (creamy) to the pot and blend in by stirring. Give it the taste test and if still spicy do it again. Trust me, it works. My pot of gumbo:
  20. Here is the recipe I use for Gumbo (with a few modifications on spices) Instant Pot Gumbo
  21. My latest is Pasta Bolognese: Following the recipe off of pressureluckcooking.com (great info on IP) it was good but I made it better the next day by adding some spaghetti sauce when I warmed it up. Turned out delicious. Keep this thread going with recipes or pictures of things you have done in the IP. Clam Chowder has been my favorite if anyone is interested.
  22. That's what I said, or close to it.
