  1. Reply to my question. Read it and weep. " Thank you for your interest in the Natchez Trace Parkway. Hopefully I can clarify this. 1) The 40,000 pound limit only applies to commercial vehicles, which are not allowed anyway. RVs do not have a weight limit. We have removed this from our website. 2) The Natchez Trace Parkway is a national park and adheres to federal regulations. According to the Code of Federal Regulations, (CFR Title 36-Chapter 1-Part 4- §4.11 Load, weight and size limits. (a) Vehicle load, weight and size limits established by State law apply to a vehicle operated on a park road. However, the superintendent may designate more restrictive limits when appropriate for traffic safety or protection of the road surface. The superintendent may require a permit and establish conditions for the operation of a vehicle exceeding designated limits. You can access the entire CFR here: https://gov.ecfr.io/cgi-bin/ECFR In our Superintendent's Compendium, you will see where our superintendent designated more restrictive limits because our roads are only 11 feet wide, and the 55 foot length was determined to be the maximum safe length. We do not charge recreational vehicles with a weight restriction. I have copied and pasted the pertinent information from the compendium for you. (a)(1) Recreational and non-recreational hauling regulations: Hauling associated with recreational activities is intended to include activities such as camping, boating, horseback riding, and ATV use. Hauling of multiple pieces of recreational equipment on a single trailer is permitted provided the total vehicle and trailer length does not exceed 55 feet. 2. Erniee is going to tell you that you can't afford it.
  3. Here is a tip for anyone that makes something that may be "to" spicy (not for me, but DW) Add a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter (creamy) to the pot and blend in by stirring. Give it the taste test and if still spicy do it again. Trust me, it works. My pot of gumbo:
  4. Here is the recipe I use for Gumbo (with a few modifications on spices) Instant Pot Gumbo
  5. My latest is Pasta Bolognese: Following the recipe off of pressureluckcooking.com (great info on IP) it was good but I made it better the next day by adding some spaghetti sauce when I warmed it up. Turned out delicious. Keep this thread going with recipes or pictures of things you have done in the IP. Clam Chowder has been my favorite if anyone is interested.
  6. That's what I said, or close to it.
  7. My 2008 Winnebago Destination with a 340 cummins and a 2500 transmission with fly-by-wire controller towed my 2007 Saturn and then my 2013 Lincoln MKX with no problems. Destination was GVW or 27,400 with GCVW of around 32,000 I think. I asked Cummins about increasing the HP to 350 and they said they could not do it because the transmission would not take it.
  8. Did you miss my point Joe: "Drinks for 6, dinner for 4 and sleeps 2. Definition: no overnight sleepers.
  9. Might just have to make a stop up in that area some day. I can stay home to have some really good food. My creation of Pasta Bolognese in the Instant Pot.
  10. There have been RV forum threads dedicated to part timers who want to beat the system, as Jim stated, and register in States without taxes, and other items. Many states are cracking down on those types of activities. Some states will even compute the difference in the tax rates between states and if you come up short in the new state you may end up paying the difference. Best advice was what you gave yourself. Call Fl and ask.
  11. Wow! My MH is considerably different then yours. Mine has drinks for 6, dinner for 4 and sleeps 2. With that said, the extra tent is the way to go. Kids love sleeping in tents. Many campgrounds, especially KOA's have tenting areas. Just get a big tent or two and let the kids have fun tenting. Is there anything close like that? Biggest problem is transportation to the campground. DW could drive the TOAD with kids in it and a couple could be in the RV. Just make sure everyone has a seat belt.
  12. I swear I didn't know my wife had two other sisters.?
  13. MIke, Any chance of just removing the graphics and buffing out where they were. Nothing wrong with a bare naked RV.
  14. Michelin and Hankook most likely have different inflation's for their tires. May be close, but no cigar. It would be interesting to compare tables.
  15. New one for me also Andy. Hmmm! Does your DW suffer from small print read! ? Oops! Now she'll go searching.
  16. DB, we have a place about 10 miles up the road where you can "Eat All You Want" catfish for about $12. They also make the best Jalapeno Poppers you have ever eaten. LIke I said, we have the resturants around here.
  17. Now Herman, cut that out! You know what he meant. You can talk Texan and say "Shank." His "Off the hoof" = "Fresh.
  18. We were on a part of it for many miles in our 43' towing. No problems. We took it because at that time we called and the person on duty stated that the 55' length was an old law. With that said I just called the Parkway and spoke with Andie and she said that the 55' length is a must and it is also a Mississippi State Law. (Don't shoot the messenger) Yes, it is a two lane road but no worse in width than any other 2 lane road. For information Natchez Trace Pkwy and RV's Edited: I just sent an email to The Trace asking for clarification.
  19. We have so many good restaurants around here I could not list them all as we'd run out of space. Just about anything you would want. BBQ places galore and all good. Get out of the cabin and head south.
  20. That is a stupid barrier. If it has not other purpose then supposing to be pleasing - yank it out. That is like a coach with opposing couches and behind one couch is a pop-up TV. You are not going to invite friends over to watch TV unless someone wants to see a plumbers crack.
  21. It basically bypassed us. I can remember in the days of golf we would be playing at TX GC and the thunderstorms and other storms would be all around us, but like miles and miles away. We could see the ominous cloud systems but we were dry as could be. We went to a soccer game at Dickinson High School and left at half time. Got into TC and the roads were dry.
  22. My 2015 WB has the wall behind the chair when the slide is in. Fortunately I'm only 5'9" (almost just as wide, sheesh.)
  23. Going to 48? overnight here and warming to 65? tomorrow, then another 46? night then back up in temps again. Wacky, but still Texas weather.
  24. Yep, I knew you would recognize it. I had an off duty firefighter helping me as much as he could and a patrol car came up behind me and turned the lights on so people could detour around me. Earlene sent a nice letter to the PD/FD thanking them for the great help they were and how nice they were.
