  1. If a large accumulation of dirt mixed with road grime I do what Moonwink does except I just wet the rag and slosh and wipe the grime off. Doesn't matter if there are spots as the Wash-Wax-All will take care of that.
  2. Carl, so marvelous that great brains thin alike.
  3. Wash-Wax-All, have been using it for several years. If it's good for the aircraft industry it's good for me. Haven't waxed the RV's I have owned.
  4. Joe knows his "stuff," and I'm going to agree with him. (Smooth talking Devil, me.) My coach several years ago needed the air gauge replaced. When I picked it up and started down the road my tach, speedometer, etc just stopped working. Turned around and went back. To make a long story short, the said the harness cable was not "clicked" into place. Do the wiggle check under the dash and see what falls out.
  5. Or hardware store and ask for stair tread paper. We use that also and put a foot mat down for wiping feet.
  6. Opps! When I said I can see water it was raining outside. Nope! have to drive 2 minutes or so to get to it. 😎
  7. I can see the water! Just takes me 2 minutes to drive to it. The Texas City Dike is 5 miles long. Has fishing piers, cleaning stations, Boat ramps, swimming beaches and the seawall has power glider areas, wind sailing areas and fishing wading areas. What's not to like.😜 Oh, and check prices of homes on Zillow.
  8. Always read the small print and restrictions.
  9. It may have been the other Bill I posted the link for tax calculation. Good link for someone looking to re-locate. You are absolutely correct regarding the variations from county to county and city to city. I'm a veteran homesteading and senior so my taxes are locked in. They are low. Insurance gets us here on the Gulf Coast. Including taxes and insurance we estimate about $400 a month. the taxes are around $500 a year the rest is insurance.
  10. Think of it two ways. First the church may get royalties and second the oil well was there first and the church bought the property without mineral rights. If the owner that sold the property retained the mineral rights he can put in an oil well. Heck, I married a Texan 'cause I thought all Texans had oil wells. Boy, was I mistaken. I don't know how I put up with her for 57 years. (That is my side of the story.)
  11. Absolutely, and by county and city where one wants to reside. Varies a lot. The tax calculator I posted gives a good indication of what property taxes will be for an area.
  12. Bill, See if this helps: Tax Calculator Texas has some of the highest property tax rates in the country. Really depends where you are. Also there are "discounts" for Seniors that are homesteading, disabled veterans, etc. It goes by County. I'll try and find my last years paper work (which means I'll ask Earlene to find it) and give you some other numbers. Also, once you reach 65 yeas of age you qualify for other benefits. Here is some other information: Property Tax Burden for seniors No income tax though. Sales tax on items purchases is 8.25%. It has been reported that those states without an income tax seem to have the most growth.
  13. rfsod48, Lots of places in the Hill Country that is as nice as Kerrville. Take a trip down there and drive around. One example would be New Braunfels, about half way between San Antonio and Austin. Close to Canyon Lake, another nice area. Boerne, Marble Falls, Fredericksburg, are all nice areas. Good luck.
  14. We have two to three weeks of Winter. However, it is a day here and a day there and it all adds up to 2 or 3 weeks.
  15. One thing to consider if relocation to Texas is that all of the Gulf Coast is prone to hurricanes. When one is coming it is get up and get out. Don't mess with mother nature. Also there is an additional insurance, Flood Insurance. Not to high a cost but still a cost. Texas is hot in the summer.
  16. Aufgeblassen, I have grommets for my long stems, apparently you don't. Bookmark this page and in a couple years we will compare notes, if that is okay.😀
  17. I signed up over the phone, North Carolina office, and there was no references to weights. This was just last April or May. I was given 1 transponder and 1 windshield sticker. When I enquired about the sticker being double charged they advised to not put it on and just transfer the transponder back and forth. Now y'all got me wonder what the heck is going on. My wondering stopped when I come to the conclusion that it is most likely a state by state mater of interpretation. Also, according to federal regulations anything over 26,000 pounds is a commercial vehicile - go figure. Oh, the NC Quick Pass sticker is good for NC, FL, and GA whereas the EZ-Pass transponder is good in 18 states. (Federal Law) Excerpt from one site: "A vehicle may be considered a commercial vehicle if: [...] Exceeds a certain weight or class and therefore, is "classified" as commercial even though it may not be commercially used or commercially owned. A weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more is always considered commercial." Let's not get into license requirements.🚫
  18. The real friendly Texans are on the Gulf Coast.
  19. Bill, I checked an the rates seemed okay to me. I just checked the transactions again and the car rates are considerably lower than when towing with the MH.
  20. We leave the Gulf Coast for 4 to 5 months in the Summer season. This year we left Jun 10th and returned 1st week in October.
  21. Not whipping around but there will be much more vibration where the stem goes into the tire. The rubber wheel grommets for the stems are not that expensive. Dually Valve is where I got mine from.
  22. Love the Hill Country Area and love San Antonio. However, many Left Coast people are moving to Texas so in another 20 years or so it will be just like Calif. for lots of things. Housing cost have increased in Texas but still cheaper than Calif.
  23. When I received my package from NC it included the transponder and the windshield tag. NC office said to not use the windshield tag if I'm going to be towing the car as it could cause double billing. With the tag axle that would be 5 axles for the MH and then with a NC pass tag another for the TOAD. I did not install the sticker. When we park in the CG site I transfer the transponder to the car for our day trips. When we are headed to our next destination the transponder goes in the MH. Works well. Since it is a central billing office it is slow catching up with all the toll booths one travels through. Texas has EZ-TAG and TX-TAG and they both work on each other's toll roads.
  24. It's an insurance policy and when you need it , it is very nice to have. If you don't need it you still have peace of mind.
