  1. Yes, along with Kwikee and a lot of other components. They have gotten real big. I just had some work done there a few weeks ago when a Power Gear motor was failing. They were able to work me in at 0700 on a Monday. BTW - If anyone needs any repairs/replacements, Master Tech RV in Elkhart are great to work with. The have a very large place, all inside. One of the owners having repairs done said they could stay in their MH hooked up to power in the evenings. Their hours of operation for repairs are 0700 to 1530 hours.
  2. PowerGear uses the rack and pinion also. The motors run off 12v provided by the controller. The controller keeps the motors in sync. Load sensing stops the motor. Interested in hearing what you find out.
  3. Byron, Every single day will be an improvement day. She'll feel it in the the therapy sessions. Tell her to use the cane for balance and just in case situations. Happy to hear all is going well.
  4. Call Lippert Components Inc., as they now own Power Gear and what you are basically describing could be a Power Gear rack and pinion type system. Not positive on this with a Tiffin though. If the "rack" looks like a serpent it is a Schwintek. If it is a straight rack with teeth it is Power Gear or other than Schwintek, me thinks. Calling Tiffin with the coach serial number and ask who makes the slide motors and controllers that were put in it is going to help. Power Gear and Schwintek controllers can be used for either type if that is what they were using in 2007. If the controller looses its memory it can get out of sync and needs to be reset. Waiting to hear what you find out from Tiffin.
  5. I just have to ask. Are you using RV(septic) safe toilet tissue? Also no Kleenex type tissues in the toilet? You may know this already but if you take a square of toilet tissue and drop it into a glass of water it should break up and sort of dissolve to nothing.
  6. After the costs you are going to incur for repairs and no guarantee the repairs will last a long time it may be time to replace the unit. A Coleman Mach 8, 13,500 Btu can be found for under $1000, and closer to $800. What are the repair costs for you now? We have 3 AC units on the roof. We left Texas June 10, 2018, and went to Florida, then up the East Coast. It wasn't until after we left Fort Belvoir, VA, that the temperatures were below 95˚. If we tried running all 3 AC's the 50 amp pedestal circuit breaker would trip so we just stopped trying to run all 3. The ceiling fan in the bedroom helped circulate the air from the front two AC's and were were very comfortable in the low 70's inside the MH. This time of year you should not have any problem staying comfortable.
  7. I recognize that and can add that mine sometimes talks to be using sign language gestures.
  8. There are some states where it is illegal to wear headphones or ear buds while driving. Motorcyclist typically wear a helmet with a built in system. Don't know about the legality of that.
  9. Aw Carl! I'm sorry. I should have realized that Kay and I were most likely having a private exchange of information not suitable for virgin ears.
  10. Byron, Back in or aroumd 1970 or so I had my first CB radio. Can't remember the name but it was a tube type antique, maybe now but not then. I went to Syracuse University Research Center for some testing and evaluation of radio equipment. One of the tubes gave out i the CB and I was explaining to the engineers there what I had. One of the engineers said to bring it in and he would change the finals out to transistors. I did, he did. Then to test it he took a metal coat hanger, cut it to about 19 inches, stuck it into the RF Output connector and started calling. Got a couple replies from passing motorist and said I was good to go. In todays world we still call it "Antenna Theory." I spent 3 years in GTMO before I got my= ARC sign. Took some RG-8, took of the insulation with the length removed corresponding to the center frequency of the CB band, skinned the shield back down over the insulation to act as a ground poise, hoisted it up into a tree and communicated many a day by "skip" back to the states. Antenna Theory - we are still learning, but there are things that are proven to work.
  11. The operation is only about two hours and PT is 6 to 8 weeks. My bet is on PT being extremely important. Don't be a nurse, Betty, just do as the PT person says to do - no more. It's not going to get better faster by doing more.
  12. Chipped, cracked, even when trucks are approaching from opposite direction and in their lane. Angle of the dangle when the truck hits a pebble in the road, or force flies it from the tread of his tire Nature of the beast and not really something that can be protected.
  13. With both my ACL, right knee replaced and two rotator cuff repaired the only time I took the hydrocodone was about an hour before physical therapy and that was only for a few weeks, then nothing. My pain threshold is high. To explain that, I don't take novacain or gas when I get a tooth filled. I also had a root canal without anything. Last colonoscopy I did not take anything and I can tell you this - next dang time I will,
  14. ...and GFI receptacles are polarity specific and are usually marked + and -, hot and neutral. If the wires are crossed it will never reset.
  15. Owners were very accommodating for us. They are pretty full up but they made room.
  16. Wishing Betty a fast physical therapy recovery. Because of her background I won't go into doing what the PT's say and nothing more. I have had two ACL reconstructions, two rotator cuff repaired and my right knee replaced. When it was all over each time, it was worth it. ACL is the same PT as knee replacement. Wishing her the best.
  17. 1 watt and a wet string with conditions right and you can transmit around the world. KE5QG
  18. I'm playing catch-up, and I think I'm there. Started our trip June 10th. Along the way we started having slide problems. It is about 12 feet long, and one side did not want to go out/in (depending on were it was at the time of the push of the button). It is a PowerGear slide with a Schwintek controller. We were on the East Coast on our way to NE and only 1 more srop from our destination when we decided to cancel. No refund on the two weeks we had reserved and payment was in full. So 630 miles from Goshen, IN., and LIppert Components we trekked West. BTW, if you can avoid I-80 in Indiana it would be worth you while. The should pay people to use that highway instead of charging tolls. Lippert was able to work us in this coming Monday at 0700 hours. Hope I can get up that early. We are staying in the Elkhart County 4 H Fairgrounds RV Park and we can say that if you ever have to stay somewhere around here, this is a great place - and huge. The sites are grass with FHU 50 amp and the price is right. Tuesday we move to Pla Mor in Bremen IN for 12 days and we are just going to laze out and explore Amish Country. If you are in the area, stop on by.
  19. Several years ago I had to get towed to Cummins Houston. It would have taken six weeks for Winnebago to start a manufacture of the engine wiring harness - don't keep them in stock and they re-manufacture them on the go. Houston Cummins was able to repair the harness and I was on the road in about 4 days. Great service.
  20. In you electronic management panel you should have a power management system display. If you scroll through you will see L1, L2 - Voltage on each and the amps they are drawing. After I fire up I always scroll to that reading and watch when I have to turn things on/off. With 3 AC's running I pull 41 amps and that will only work on pedestals that have 120v line input, not 115 or weak breakers.
  21. It is philosophy 101 Expressed another way: IF anything and anything equals 5; THEN 2 plus 2 equals 4
  22. I have a different approach. I watch the engine temperature gauge, When it starts to get higher than 207˚RR I'll down shift until I can get the RPMs to 2000-2500 RPM. I may have to reduce speed also. I'll notice a drop in temperature almost immediately. You have a 450Hp Diesel pushing you along so you should not have a problem, just keep your engine happy.
  23. Math logic: If 2 plus 2 equals 5 then 2 plus 2 equals 4. (Truism) See what studying can do for you?
  24. Carl, time for your annual checkup a the doctor's office.
  25. Paying our SS and Medicare!! I want to add a thank you for your taxes paying my other retirement pensions. Let's see, 1, 2, 3 additional Govt., ones. p.s., they are small ones.
