  1. We have been to 48 of the 49 contiguous United States including Wash D.C., and have traveled through the lower part of Canada from Niagara Falls to Sarnia. I'm licensed to carry in Texas and reciprocal in many states. In the many years of roving around the country, and knowing that there are firearm restrictions - I just don't carry when in the RV. In those many years I have never, never had the necessity to have a firearm. We enjoy the military RV parks and the less than expensive stays. Saves a few bucks.
  2. I always ask for a military discount and I have an id card that says across the top, "UNITED STATES UNIFORMED SERVICES" and it gets me all of the same access to military bases that active duty does. (Excluding restricted spaces). My wife has exactly the same wording on hers but her id card is a different color. She also gets the same access. I always ask for a military discount. The worse I can get for asking is a "No!" Same thing for a veteran as many places give a discount to veterans. Take Lowe's and Home Depot for example.
  3. In many instances the "community businesses" complained about pricing. The DOD in its infinite wisdom decided to be nice and make prices relatively close to the outside community. Hence, pricing is comparable. The big savings is on the tax as large purchase taxable items are the savings when shopping at an exchange. On a $1, in Texas it is only 8 cents but on $100 you can save $8. Buying a smart TV for $1000 can save oneself $82. It pays to shop around. Another thing I have found about Exchanges is that the brand of clothing and items always seems to be the "upward" brand, whereas when I shop I'm okay on Vanity Fair for clothing and a lot cheaper.
  4. I like the signs that say "No trucks over 40 T"
  5. Something to avoid for sure but have you ever been on a road where the bridge limit was under what you weighed and there was no place to turn around? What to do? My old MH was 13.5 tons and the new one is 23.5 tons, not including car. Coming up to a bridge with a weight restriction sign at the base of the bridge is not a very good option. How many have run into this situation and what did you do?
  6. Joe, I also enjoy Community Club Dark Roast K-Cups. Another one you may want to try is available everywhere. Walmart (Great Value) Arabica French Roast K-Cup. Also, Amazon sells all, Pinion, Community Club, Arabica and just about any other blend one would want.
  7. Security is a state of mind and what a person adds for security is for their piece of mind. With that said, nothing is 100% secure. Don't overkill on a security system. if any. A security system other than vehicle alarm is most likely going to require constant internet access via a router. Data plans need to large enough to accommodate the data. Loud sounds and bright lights deter most criminals and since you have a Class B you may want to look into an aftermarket, or manufacturer's, alarm system. If you do, make sure you have an isolated dedicated battery as most criminals that steal from small vehicles know to cut the battery cable supplying power. As for the compartment doors on any RV, or locked entrance doors whether they are just the entry lock or dead bolt, can be pried open with a large screwdriver, claw hammer or nail puller or similar items. Stay away from areas that look like there could be a problem and if you visit a Walmart after Sundown try not to leave the unit vacant. In all the years of RV'ing we have never had a problem with any type of thievery. We always stay in a campground and do not boondock. Others that do boondock can give more information on security doing so.
  8. Joe, I've seen many a coach bra but I was referring to you. Any pictures?😁
  9. I have a cracked windshield and the crack starts at the bottom and continues over and up to the side. All happened on this last trip. If I were to stretch the crack out to a straight line I would estimate it would be 2 feet. All interior to the glass. No outside edges. I doubt it could be repaired.
  10. No, just that 3m film that scratches real easy if you try to hard to get a bug off of it. Someone before me did it on this MH and there are a few fingernail or pad scratches. I just cleaned the front a little while ago and I used Awesome. Just a little spray with a microfiber cloth under the area to catch drips, wait about 10 seconds and wipe off. Worked well on the bugs. What does Joe L's motorhome have?🤡 Oops!
  11. On this last trip someone told me to try 303 protectant on the front of the MH (paint area). I tested the top panel above the generator opening slide out. Put some 303 on it and wiped it all across the panel. Came home through a mess of bugs. Turned on the hose and on that panel the bugs just washed away. Oh, on the 303, a friend found some at Bailey's in Indiana for $4.99 a gallon. Bailey's is a place that buys damaged pallets of items like off of 18 wheeler that loses their load. Good friend, just gave me a gallon.
  12. Vary nice looking unit. Saw a 1977 GMC at the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart, IN. Didn't get any of the inside but it was as modern as modern could get. The outside looked like this: (With write-up) (Lots of money into this one, for sure.)
  13. Carl, that is the cost of buying locally. Mini in the Box is china and 1/10th the price. Now I know some will say, "Don't buy china," but that is even where the local ones come from. From Mini-in-the-Box you can get a 20 pack for $20.00
  14. Our 2008 had the bi-pin halogen. I purchased LED from Mini In The Box and they ARE based in China. I first bought some "soft white" but we determined they were not bright enough. Next I bought some 5000k bright white and they were much better. You may have to snip the leads as some are very long. A pair of cutting pliers will do he trick.
  15. Come on guys! At your ages take what you can and carpe diem. You are truly a master Ernie.
  16. I replaced my Michelins, on my previous MH, with M154 Toyo The numbers you have I think are the Toyo M140z
  17. Have you looked at this site: Tire Size Calculator
  18. Thank goodness my post was so short with the link to all that has been said, whew!😇
  19. I have used Progressive Industries for 10 years and now have the PT-50X. It can be purchased on Amazon fo the same price as Camping World if you are not near one for the same price of $334. There product has saved me from electrical problems several times over the years.
  20. Progressive Industries has some, here is a link: Progressive Industries
  21. Yes, just don't want anyone to think that automotive antifreeze can be used anywhere but there. I sometimes get confused on topic!😹
  22. For Aqua Hot only use boiler antifreeze. it is different from antifreeze in composition: Aqua Hot Boiler Antifreeze Also there are two different colors, pink and lime(yellowish) green. Do not mix them,
  23. I'm with Joe S and I'm not going to drive around city blocks seeing if I can get my 43' footer with TOAD into a station. --------------------------------------------- And as Jim S stated I also remember the very close to $5 a gallon days and it still didn't stop us from traveling. Many RV owners got rid of their rigs because of the ever increasing fuel prices, same in 2008 when the economy was dwindling down. --------------------------------------------- Yes, when using the PFJ card he pump display will ask for your "control" number and it is a pin number that you set up. First time I ever used it i thought it was a "trucker control" number and, as easy as easy does, it had me confused for 2 seconds. -------------------------------------------- I just found out something that I'm going to have to test on the way home regarding Loves Truck Stops. I hate having to go in and tell them how much i'm going to pump. Talking to another Love's card holder he stated that with the MyLove's card you swipe the card at the pump then swipe your credit card and you don't have to go in. Can anyone confirm this?
