Replacing Holding Tank Valves
wildebill308 replied to Joeandkathyray's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Welcome to the forum. I believe you are asking about the cables used to operate the dump valves, right? Did you have one break? Are they just hard to operate? It makes it easier if you add your coach to your signature, look at carl's and T Butler. Bill -
Nice coach, You should add it and some other info to your signature. I looked up on the Michelin site and the XRV in 19.5 is speed rated at 75 mph. By the way do you know about the date codes and the general rule of only keeping tires 7 years? Bill
-
One of the problems is if you are towing a toad it may have speed restrictions. My CR-V is it is limited to 65 mph when being towed. Are you clear now on the different letter codes? One is weight and the other is speed. I don't know of a 22.5 tire rated over 75 mph. What size tires do you run? Bill

Yes thank you and welcome to the forum. Bill

Well we will see I just had them order 2 load range H for the front. Will be having them installed Friday. I will up date my experiences later. Bill
-
I would never want you to stop being you. The issue is availability of tires in load range G, I can get them in load range H. Just wondering how much stiffer/harsher they would be. Bill
-
Welcome to the forum. No it does not register miles when being towed. Bill
-
How much stiffer would the ride be for a load range H tire be over a load range G. Taking into consideration of inflating to load. Bill

We did the 375 loop going to Chandler this spring and it was a good way to miss most of the traffic. Bill -
What are the positive aspects of this? Bill

I agree with Carl. Bill

It never hurts to check on them. I don't think this is a hi failure item because we seldom hear about a problem on the forums. Maybe they all change them out and never say anything about it. Bill

I think 3 days is already to many hours a day on the road. You can't make the time that you can with a car. If you need to make time I would just go on I-10. Though like Brett said I-40 would be cooler this time of year. Bill -
Don't they like to hid things in the darndest places. Glad you got it fixed. Bill

Synthetic Transmission In Older Allison
wildebill308 replied to sierrastarr1@sbcglobal.net's topic in Type A motorhomes
When you do the change, be extremely careful when cleaning any stuck on old gasket. I recommend using a plastic scraper on the aluminum. If you use a steel scraper you can scratch the surface and create a leak path. This is mainly on the filter housings as it is a thin paper gasket. The one other potential problem is to use a good torque wrench. The torque is pretty high for bolts going into a aluminum casting. Going over the called for torque will make more work. All in all it is a simple job just like changing the oil. Just 2 internal filters to change. Bill -
Synthetic Transmission In Older Allison
wildebill308 replied to sierrastarr1@sbcglobal.net's topic in Type A motorhomes
Well just maybe they used an aftermarket part instead of a Allison part and installed it poorly and damaged it. Now it is CYA as they don't want to be on the hook for re doing the job. I would go to a certified Allison shop. By the way Welcome to the forum. Bill -
If you don't want to pull the batteries you can sprinkle some baking soda around them to kill the acid. DO NOT get any in the batteries or it will kill the batteries. Bill

Just a reminder or if you did not know, National Parks Seniors Lifetime Pass is set to change on the 28th of this month, for the $10 lifetime pass for seniors 62 years or older. It covers everyone in your car. After August 28th, they will still offer the lifetime seniors pass, but it will be the same $80 as the annual pass, but for seniors 62 or older, it will be the seniors version lasting the rest of your life. At $80.00 it is still a steal but If you can get one for $10.00. ;D https://www.nps.gov/planyourvisit/passes.htm#CP_JUMP_5088578 Bill
