I have not towed a Smart, but was on the verge of getting one last November. The factory representative was at the dealer that day. He showed me the two tow points, and how easy it would be to install the tow bar. He also told me about Smart-tow, and highly recommended that method. The receiver that will use rf will have to be set to receive rf. The default is ir, therefore no other receiver will receive that signal. Kay

Being from Alabama, I would suggest looking at the Tiffin line. They are built here in Alabama in Red Bay. I have been to their factory, and was impressed with the finess that is put into their homes. They offer Allegro, Phaeton, and Zephyr. Your choice on whether new or used, they seem to hold value longer than some of the others in your budget range. Good luck hunting and hope to see you here. Kay

I would take I-10 to the last Panama City exit, which is highway 231, and go south all the way to highway 98, then turn east. There are shorter routes that I know, but I have been traveling these routes for 50+ years. As Brett said, the congestion is not worth the effort to run 98 all the way. The scenery is very good east of Panama City, and when you get to Apalachacola, there is many good places to eat some of the best seafood on the planet. Happy holidays, Kay

If you are in or traveling through the Southeast during the holiday season, a good point of interest is Callaway Gardens, at Pine Mountain, Ga. The holiday light show is fantastic, and will be viewed till Jan. 1, 2014. Located near Warmsprings Ga., which is the home o Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Little white house is located there, with a noteworthy museum in honor of FDR. The town of Warmsprings is a quaint little town full of hospitable people, and oriented toward a Christmas Spirit. I stay at FDR state park when I go, and find a nice park. Just a tidbit in case someone is looking for little trip. Happy Holidays Kay

I asked if you have the Poe injector, also. This is how it gets power to run, which requires 12volts to operate the unit through the Ethernet cable. I have e-mailed my phone numbers, will be up about 30 more minutes. Call me if you need any help. Not surprising that the company hasn't replied, sometimes takes weeks for that to happen. I used a 100 amp Powermax RV converter which I ordered off of ebay. Fully automatic, it has worked flawlessly for over a year. Kay

Yes you can change your current driver license to Florida dl. Also is still true, no state income tax, and tags are cheaper than most places, although, there is an impact fee for each vehicle when you change from another state plates. Not sure how much that is, but it is assessed on the basis of the value of the vehicle. Anyway, that is one thing to look out for. Good luck, Kay

Box stores usually carry 15 amp, and 20 amp gfci outlet/breakers. Be sure to not put a 20 amp on number 14 wire. Also, some gfci outlets are wired so that there can be other outlets downstream from them, which could mean that there is too much current draw on that receptacle. Check to see if other appliances are also affected when the breaker is thrown. Good luck troubleshooting Kay

Excuse me tcat900, ask the Mercedes factory rep, not me. I was only quoting what I was told. Also if the battery is disconnected, there is no current being used, therefore no recharge required for the rather short periods that it remains disconnected. The factory has a reason for suggesting the battery be disconnected, therefore the question should be asked of them. Sorry that some of us are not quite as smart as you. Kay

If you disconnect the battery, why would have run a charge wire? If the Battery is disconnected, it cannot use any current. I am looking at a Smart for two, the company rep., told me that the reason for the battery disconnect is simply an assurance that the switch cant possibly become set as to allow the computer onboard to become active. The occurrence if that happens will be detrimental to the drive train. Just wondering!!!!!!! Kay

I use 16 ounces of household bleach, 2 ounces of laundry detergent, to 1 gallon water. Scrub it on an already wet surface, then rinse and rinse and rinse with water. Works well on my awnings as well. Kay

With all the above info, maybe an obstruction, but sounds like that you know if all is clear. I would have an extra coax in case this happens again just to try replacement. Could be a break in the conductor of your present coax, which vibration while moving could open, and or close. Only other thing that I can think of, is the possibility of the lnb going bad. I had 454 in p30 chassis 1988 Southwind Class A, only thing that worked for me with similar issues, was to go to a racing store, purchase a new solid center plug wires. I tried three different sets of the over the counter sets with carbon center, none of them worked for any length of time. The racing version worked for me three years, and were going strong when I sold her. This may not be your issue, but a thought to remember. Kay

Is the dish on the roof of the RV? If so, is the dish an automatic signal finder? If the same coax was used in both places, and was not unhooked, the possibility that the elevation was a little off could be the culprit. Or if the coax was unhooked then rehooked at the campground, possibly the center conductor was not making contact properly. I had a same situation on my last outing, I unhooked the coax then reseated it, and it came back to life. Also, did you go through setup, on receiver at the new location? If so, the possibility that wrong dish setting may have occurred, ie round versus slimline, or vice versa. Hope you find the answer, Kay

I have heat pumps on the roof with heat strips in them, which change to heat strips at 40 degrees. I also have an infrared cool touch 1500 watt maximum heater. The kind that Bob Villa used to advertise. The infrared heater was the best investment so far. I have been in 11 degree weather with this arrangement, and never had to call on propane. Kay

Honda CRV tows well, 30 mpg avg. Automatic is towable 4 wheels down. Many other good ones if you are willing to drive manual shift, or pay the price to add transmission cooler to auto. Also if you are looking for a used suv, Saturn Vue was a good one that needs no conversion. I'm sure there are many others but these are a few, with the Honda as a new choice being my favorite. Had a battery quick disconnect fail one time with the same symptoms. I took the disconnect out of the system, and wired around it. That worked for me. Hope yours is as simple. Kay
