Renting Out Your Motorhome- When You're Not Using It?
manholt replied to mweiner's topic in General Discussion
Linda does not drive my coach & I don't drive hers! So, why would we rent them out? Both are DP's, both are paid for & we don't need the money (if we did, we would be stupid to have a coach to begin with)! -
I got a mail from MB (yes I do own them) in Austin, TX. 2018 diesel cars for half the price of a gas model....they are selling them as used. I told the Mgr. No Thanks. I got a 2005 SLC 550 24 valve aspirated AMG for Christmas...Speedometer goes to 360km/h ! Never said I wanted to go out handsome!

Installing Ground Effects Surround Exterior LEDs
manholt replied to Rewillia's topic in Type A motorhomes
Rich. Very well done! Your awning and under slide lights are blinding, while the Boogey Light's are pleasing to the eye! Sorry, but like Rich, Linda and I have more stuff than you! Total of 4 houses and 2 coaches between us....that's going to be a garage sale! LOL Looks like the RV park is a sports field, got more light's than needed. -
It is compatible with Dish and Bell (you have to get the DIRECTV Receiver and a separate controller for each of the 3)! You will not get HD and you will have 3 separate monthly Bills, with 3, 2 year contracts! It's portable, but that's a lot of bucks up front and per month for Analog only!

Mark. Your own questions, are the answer! Your correct. As for BM, you have (can't expect you not to) done far more reading on the subject than I have. You have the engine, so that's expected. I hope they, BM, get the issue resolved. There are far more MB/Sprinters sold for the service & commercial industry than RV!

Hoggem. Which one/ones of the 3 side windows are we talking about? The 2 fixed ones or the one on bottom that has the screen and slides to the front?

I saw that also. Kay, your right...up above. You really were a Custom Cabinet maker? I'm impressed, that's a long way from Electronics! -
Do You Have A Motorcycle With You While RV'ing?
manholt replied to redandsilver's topic in General Discussion
Kevin. You got my vote! It's all about what makes you, and the DW happy! -
rr. It's a diesel, we are never going to put the kind of miles a trucker would. My question to you is a bit more information, like Engine and HP, have a mechanic that you know check out the coach. It's a Aspirated re generation system, has it been baked or is it due for replacement (that is not cheap), DOT of Tires, age of and what kind of batteries, service records, etc.

RR. RV Mobile Service, Houston...don't have a phone #. Should be on Internet. Freightliner in Houston and South Plains Cummins are both very good. I still have a house on Galveston, Island...spend most of my time in Texas now, in the Hill Country or Gregg County!

Joe. I take it you have a warranty?! Take the coach out for a 300-500 mile shake down trip & write down anything that happens...Every coach has gremlins and your better off in the long run, by finding them now, before they become big gremlins!

Mike. The last Sta-bil for diesel, I bought was found in the Garden Center of Home Depot.

Anybody Going To The RV Show In Quartzsite Jan 2018?
manholt replied to punxsyjumper's topic in Let's Meet Up
Suggest you send a PM to RSBILLEDWARDS, he's either there now or on his way...all he does is Boondock! -
Jim S. There is no dumb question on the Forum! My guess would be yes, but much higher heat than your thinking about...kind of like Paraffin extraction from crude, there is or was such a plant in Bay Town off of I-10 before Belmont, TX.

Self Financed RV or Underwater With Traditional Loan?

Tax free Municipal Bond fund, such as, but not limited too...Levine, Eagle or Blackrock paid 6.25 % average per year, over the past 7 years. That's equal to over 9% taxable, per year! You don't need mega bucks to get a Mutual Fund...$50 a month from any brokerage, over time it builds in value and yield. Now that's IMHO mathematics. that anyone can understand. -
To me, very interesting! My work as a retired Petroleum Engineer, was to drill for oil and gas, not refine it ! That part was never high on my wish list...now I got a taste of what I was missing! Thank you.

I'll second that ! Beg Mother Nature, no more last 2 weeks in Texas, Please! Flip Flops and T-shirt is the norm.

That's a good thought....only from a Sail boater! Back in the late 70's, early 80's, my DW would take 2 of her kids skiing in Ruidoso, NM and they would stay at Apache Mountain, right behind the ski lift, all weekend in sub zero weather, over 11,700 feet. Never had a problem with the Dometic fridge. She had it on LP!

Guess, he was not very hungry for "Ex-Northern cop"! They still have all the Rubber Gators on 41? csipple. Welcome to the Forum! Are you camping for a while in that area? You can't see all there is in just one or two days...I really have no suggestion of where to stay, because of Hurricane Irma...I suggest you hover your mouse over ISP Avatar and you'll see message, send him one...he lives there.

You only forgot, by running your hand from bottom towards the top of a bottle, as it's being used or just shut off, you can feel the cold, then warmth and that is how much liquid is still in bottle(if you don't have a gauge)! On the small green portable bottles, most users will throw them away, there is still enough liquid left to grill a steak!
-
Kay. The tank pressure gauge says 50/50 mix, so it would freeze at the temps Richard has had. Normal for North America (Canada included) is a 20/80 mix.

Yep. This time of year, I use the Kleen White, warm, hot months, the Silver/Grey. I get most off it at Wall Mart or Tractor Supply. I run the gas version in my Jeep! Rich, totally agree.

WBill. Linda kept telling me, "Bill is not from Texas! He's like you, a transplant"! LOL...Thanks, now I got to eat crow!

ccummings7. Welcome. I had a similar problem with mine, when I had it operational, it's still in Jeep, but now using M&G as it is a better set up for "Off Roading"! My mechanic, did the same as yours did, it works. He went one step further, enclosed the whole unit in a Plexiglas Box with rubber seal around the lid in front, so I could still open it and adjust the brake setting. Total waterproof, you might want to do the same, since your floor is a lot lower than mine...by the way, we did the same with the on board computer, that's still functional.
