The vote Is In: We Are No Longer A Motorhome Only Group
manholt replied to jimnorm's topic in FMCA Feedback
I have been a GS member since 1973, Charter Life...after I became a FMCA member! My only regret is that I didn't take a L# when it was available, like I did with GS! I also have a Escapees membership. One thing I noticed is that GSamer's had this same "knee jerk" reaction when the Class A's first started to show up at the National Rallies, along with the Big Rig Manufacturers! Now, it's Ho, Hum. All are accepted. The same will happen within FMCA! Some will drop out, some will trade or sell their coach and get a towable and of course we will get others who already have a towable...like my best friend's and golf partners! FMCA is not going to get a massive amount of trailers over the next year, anymore than GS did. Most of you are GS members because of the 10% discount at Campgrounds and CW parts store. Just as most are members of Passport America for the discounts! I'm paid up for 5 years and though disappointed and sadden, I'm not going anywhere! End of one era = the beginning off another! 74,000+ members had an opportunity to cast a vote, you, for whatever reason, allowed 12% to make the decision for you! -
Ken. Welcome. What name brand and make, awning is it? Manual or Electric? Have you sprayed WD 40 ? I'm thinking, whoever installed it, put to much tension on it.

Roland. As Jim say's! Since I use it quite frequently, when I'm driving long distances, my rig don't get a chance to get dirty. In a extended campground stay, I clean when I get there and then as the mood strikes me! Linda got the simple solution with pole for $186, in Texarkana FMCA Six State! She cleaned with it on her rig, I used my Lucas & a aluminum extension, painters pole, from Harbor Freight. Light and stable...took me 30 minutes for rig and another 30 for rims and everything chrome. Linda's pole is heavy, the stuff works about the same, time=same, the biggest difference is cost and I can replace mine at any Wall Mart...Linda's is mail order. Oh, Linda is using my pole!

Too funny! You can also use the Microwave door!

I had the same issue on a 2011 Allegro Bus. Red Bay put the coach on a rack and found that there was a separation between the metal and rubber on L/R rear airbag, replaced both on warranty and never had a problem again with air pressure!

Other than Parking at a FMCA sanctioned event and the possibility of a couple of Discrimination issues, I see no problems! Carl -
Looks like my reply, is in computer thrash heaven! Any way, my bad!
-
Yes, I also see them, but mostly from the North to South on 281. Have a friend who modifies or builds them from frame up...all are on trailer, because their not street legal...client's from all over the World. He's up testing every month for 4 days! They all leave in one piece!
-
No, mine would if I had an Eaglet ! I even found that my solar power was not hooked up, not that it matters, it was installed for the genny battery!
-
Yes, many times since I moved part time to Linda's place in Burnet, 21 mile drive! Got a dozen+ friends from Houston Area that come up a couple of times a month. All they do is the Blue Trails...been on one, one time & almost lost it. Now that I have a set off 35" tires and 100% articulation, I'll try it again in 2 weeks! Bill. Some do, some don't....I understand.

Well, according to Herman Mullins, the Fat Lady sang...70% Yes and 30% No. Our future is no longer Family MOTOR COACH Association! Thank you to those of you that voted. No comment to those that did not !

I know, contract issues...it's obscene how much $$$ the Factory & Dealer makes! Look at MHS in Alvarado, they discount from 25% to 45% depending on Brand ! 2 years ago, when REV moved in across the Hwy. MHS took in all the AC coaches that Acira had...called me and gave me a offer on a 2015 Tradition at 45% off MSRP (Factory)!

House batteries will be fine as long as you look at water level if acid type. Depending on how it's wired, you may or maynot have to put a trickle charger on engine start batteries! Good Luck & Merry Christmas!
-
To each, their own! I'm just trying not to look forward too the day I got to give it up!
-
Jim. They live in Liberty City off Hwy. 29.
-
Jim. You can buy direct from Newmar, go to factory and tell them what you want...they list their suggested MSRP on the web. You can have it built, interior colors, wood and more, Exterior design and paint colors, other than what's offered in catalogue...get a total MSRP, then negotiate with a dealer....We have a member of River City Travelers who did it that way and the Dutch Star will be ready for PU at factory in Feb., he got the best deal thru a dealer that's 35 miles from Factory and recommended by Newmar...as soon as he said yes, Newmar call and gave a heads up to dealer. You can also, have the coach delivered pre painted and taken to a Custom Paint Shop in Bremen (8 miles from Newmar) and they do some unbelievable paint jobs....we toured that place before Indy! They had a booth in Indy..cost $18K- $40K.

You are the owner of this coach, right? How long have you had it? -
Kay. Me thinks there is confusion on OP's part. I read it the same as you! Had to do that on a 2009 Jeep Wrangler!
-
Bill. Yes! I base that upon the thought that you don't (or can't) go extreme 4 wheeling as I do! I don't foresee my Wrangler lasting 117,000 miles... I have never seen a Liberty in the Lizard Pass Mountain range in Colorado or the back country of Moab, Utah.

Don. It's OK. The Vote is now over! Now, we sit and wait, for "the Fat Lady to Sing"! I wonder what the future will bring? All "Snail Mail" ballots, should be in by the 6th and counted by the 15th! If it's YES, that is by no means the end of the process....Lots of people on this Forum will say (and they know better) that it is! If it's NO, then it's a dead issue and FMCA has spent a lot of $$$$ for nothing!
-
Smithy. I just signed on!
-
Depends, a loud bang in the morning=Linda is hunting Armadillo, that will get your attention at 4 am! Knocking on the door, is a lot more interesting!
-
Both of my Magnum 2800's charges only my 8 house batteries. Have a trickle charger on my Engine batteries (2- 12Volt). All are AGM's. I did leave the coach inverter on and had no problems for 3 years...that was in a garage with 20A, 120V electric! Now, I'm on 50A all the time, even if the electric goes off, then the 22KW generator back up system comes on.

Richard. Your right about cars sitting and not getting exercised enough. As Jay Leno said. "I take a different car out once a week"! With his massive collection, I presume he has a lot of employees doing the same! Cars, Motor Homes, Boats and houses, have the same thing in common...if you don't use them often enough, you'll lose them!
-
Well, it did prove that if one is on the losing side of that, you start claiming your the inventor of all kinds of BS, like the internet. Did he really think that would make the chads go away? Leary. Great thinking! Been almost a year now, I forgot all about the Snowflakes and the PC thing!
