  1. Another excellent reason why we live in Texas! We do get some cold, sleet and snow, but it's gone in a day or two and followed by balmy 70+! 4cs. Welcome! As Herman suggested, you don't want to mix the 2 types of batteries! I have a over ride switch that I can use, in case my 2 start batteries are low. It then takes all 8 of my house batteries to crank over engine. Carl
  2. Bill, Michelin has high price due to advertisements...they got to cover cost somehow! BF Goodrich and Continental don't have much coverage...Oh, forgot, it's all part of the Michelin group!

    DEF Hydrometer

When I had my Allegro Bus, it used DEF and had a 13 gallon tank that could only hold 11 1/2 gallons, my best friend, a retired Chemical Engineer, advised me to put no more than 5 gallons in at a time...all that meant was an added 2.5 gallon "Cummins" jug about every 1,200 miles. Never had a problem! Carl
  4. Joe, great. Now tell the good folks here, that you are not the guy in the picture...good luck with that.
  5. Joe. Your old acids look just like the ones I replaced, last September, egg shape and all ! Herman, you ought to use the new Flex Tape, then Flex spray the coach.. Kay. Payback will come! Wayne. Caught me by surprise. Brett. Your going to miss this! Every time during a full moon.
  6. When I got my new set of 8 in August of 14' I paid a federal tax of $340, no sales tax in OR. $435 was total labor to shop, including balance and a replacing a valve stem. Steer tires are 315 other 6 are 295....I'll let the next owner figure out where to get new DOT 295's. Carl
  7. Brett, your right. It took a day and 1/2 to prep the trailer, 2 days for paint in 2 colors and 2 days for clear coating, 2 coats with sanding between each. Carl
  8. Looking at the top invoice I see a different designation on 4 of 6 tires...why? You have 1 XZA 2, 1 XZE 2, 1 XTY 2 and X in city Z. I feel you have been ripped off by one or the other! Your steer tires should be the same designation and you drive tires should also, all be the same ! I'm confused. Bill, the Continental Tire program was in effect before the Rally in the Valley! Carl
  9. Price of paint must have tripled...A member of the Escapees in AZ. had it done in 2015 for $2,800, full body on a 42 foot Fifth Wheel. That's = to a 45 foot DP ! I was there and the result was a stunning transformation!!! Carl
  10. Roland. Stay with what you and DW want now! It's your life, future and trip...in due time your son's will find their own future and trips! Besides, you will probably downsize, long before you look at roots from the underside! Carl
  11. Kay. First thought was to far, about 12', so I called a friend this am and he gave me a suggestion to relocate the slide tray that I have about 42 inches...good access, good air circulation and away from turbo and most of heat from engine! Will have it done in Gladewater and he has plenty off the gauge wire since it's a working ranch.
  12. Herman. Could not have said it better! Between Steve's crew and yours, once in the holding area, it all went slick...50 minutes in line to get into holding area and 35 minutes later both Linda and I was parked and hooked up! Great job Carl
  13. Sharon. Good luck, hope it all works out for you! Please, let us know the results. It will help another, who has your situation. Carl
  14. Doug. Welcome to the Forum! What year and model is your current CC 40 footer and what year and length Beaver are you looking at or for? As a overview, the Beaver and CC, was at the top of the line up! They where both built in Oregon. Never heard off any ride issues or complaints about either chassis, don't know what you mean by "Creature comforts"? With top of the line coach, you got quality! Parts? Yes, just like CC. The parent company for both was Monaco, when Monaco filed for Bankruptcy it dragged Country Coach, Beaver, Holiday Rambler and Safari down with it. Today, all but CC is owned by Allide's division REV. They have all the parts. CC is owned by Winnebago as of 2015! Carl
  15. Lajitas, TX and Big Bend Park, comes to mind, unless you have Mexico/Canada!

    DEF Hydrometer

Joe. Somewhere in my feeble memory, back around 2006, when I got my Chevy P/U with the Duramax, I was told that all diesel engines had to be EPA complaint by 2024 with the exception of trains, military and Government vehicles....strange that I should hear the same at 9am today! Also, the new DEF compliant from you in this Post. Now who do you think pay's? Not the EPA. Government. That leaves the Industry, then the Consumer !

    DEF Hydrometer

Don't bet on it...the Green Huggers are coming after anything that they don't have or need. Who thought that a new mandate for DEF would come out 7 years after introduction? I didn't know, Joe had no idea! What's next? It's in the books, 26% more reduction by 2027, they just moved it up by six years after meeting by RV and trucking Industry with the Government 2 weeks ago, who wanted it by 2021...Oh, I forgot Government and Trains are all exempt.
  18. While your at it why don't you read my second reply to Phil. Apparently you missed it because I didn't put the "c" in Phil's name..
  19. Wayne. He might have already found "Dead End" and is now on the way back to Looney Toon RV park!
  20. It's not the sustained winds that bother me, I can adjust for that. It's the gusts and if your in a dusty area, like anything West off Ozona, TX on I-10. Poor visibility. Anything over 40mph wind and am off and sheltered...Don't want to replace windshield and windows, or a new paint job! Carl
  21. Tiffinallegro1. Welcome to the Forum and a Big welcome to our Family! Wish you well in your new mode of travel...happy trails. Carl
  22. I'm going to re locate my engine batteries to a more accessible location. Mine are on a slide tray, above the Jack hydraulic lines and reservoir. I have to remove the bay door to get to them, also the tray is right above the turbo...what idiot comes up with this? I have plenty of room for a 2 battery self in the house battery bay, still be able to get to both inverters! So, I will go to TCC before (I hope) Texarkana the 17th! Brett. Your right. Problem is, we get no feedback from Sharon, OP, but every 2 weeks or so, but no comment from her on questions! Frustrating!
