  1. Rick, Herman, Kay. Total agreement on all points! Rick. It's called a smart wheel, I got it on my Spartan! Suspect Herman has it also. Kay's coach is a different animal !
  2. He's lost or they did a lousy job on his driveway! OMG...
  3. Roland. If you look at Prevost and Newell, you'll only see a stiff mud flap, between the drive wheels and tag. We had a very long Post on this same issue a couple of years ago! On top of main page there is a box for Search, enter rock guard and you'll find it. I towed my first toad in 1985, behind a 1981 Apollo 31 foot gasser, no RG and no damage. Then a 1987 Barth 34' DP, no RG, no damage. Currently, I have a RG and need to replace windshield on Jeep...I think it was the luck off the draw, never had it happen before and this is my 9th toad ! Does a RG help to keep rear or side radiator cooler in summer, due to turbulence? The Vote is still out on that too! My feeling is that if 2+ million dollar coaches don't have it, I don't need it. Carl
  4. Had the same conditions in Deming, NM about 5 weeks ago and in a RV park, I had no choice about where or how to park. I took the wind on passenger side, with my slides (4) out and on air leveling only. It works like a floating foundation of a house, coach moves with the gust's, no fear of tipping over. I have jacks also, but never use them! Carl
  5. krzaugg. Welcome to the Forum! I have heard of Duncan. This contraption seams like a take on the old A frame hitch, it fits over a ball hitch attached to the motor home receiver. It's safe, as long as it has a locking mechanism to prevent it from jumping off ball. This unit is sold by Roadmaster from 1982 to present. It was originally designed and made by Lee Duncan of Eugene, OR. You will also need an auxiliary brake system for Jeep, I use the M&G on my Jeep, but Air Force 1 is also a good plug in system. Carl
  6. Welcome to FMCA! Nice looking rig you got. Carl
  7. Kay. I read it. How many if any OTR 18+ wheelers do you see out there with a camera on the box? My humble opinion is that your not committed to the whole trailer thing to begin with ! If you where, you would be out there right now and we would not be having this discussion.
  8. Since I have had all 3 variety's...Pass thru storage under coach with no slides, pass thru with slides and storage attached to slides ( like Wayne ), I like my current pass thru with slides, but I'm not full timing! If I was full time, then I would go with a Prevost, 2 slide out, 45 foot ! Carl
  9. I'm sorry, Herman. In writing, there is no misunderstanding! Carl
  10. Herman. Quite right, and nothing to be sorry for!
  11. Some times you really need that second cup of coffee!
  12. If the Rally in the Valley, Chandler, AZ is any indication of the health of FMCA, then I don't think we are going away, any time soon! Since we all are now in the computer age, it's easy to get an average age of our membership, so I wonder what the average is for GS? Anybody on the Executive Board know? I also wonder, like Joe, how we would get cross overs from GS to FMCA...what can we offer that GS does not already offer? I also, would like to know, where do you think or what kind of study has been done, to lower the age group of RV owners? I know that Jeff and his group are working hard to make Rally's a fun experience for children and teens, but they're not about to go out and buy a RV anything, at this time! Let's say we open up to towable owners, and we get 10,000 new members in FMCA. I think the age average would be about the same and we would have the same financial burden as we do now! Older people join clubs...today is not like it was, pre 2000. The family unit has changed, dramatically in the past 20+/- years! One thing is for sure, in my humble opinion. We do need to change with the changing time, we can't think like we did from the 1960's to the early 1990's and expect to survive! My other thought is that only RV owners can give an idea as to what they want, not spending a bunch of $$$$ that we supposedly don't have, on outside consultants, that probably don't have a RV ! Thank you for letting me put a few things out, here! Carl (74 years young)
  13. Send a PM to Bill Edwards, he tows a 25 foot, triple axel trailer. Include your email and phone number (nobody but him will see it) he's out in AZ somewhere and checks mail and PM's on Forum every 2 weeks...or you can wait until April 10th. he'll be back home in Evergreen, CO. Carl
  14. Warning for anyone, wanting to go North or South on Hwy. 285 between Pecos, TX and Carlsbad, NM. Don't. The road is horrible, lot's of Oil Field traffic, construction and one lane! 18+ wheelers come out off side roads, with total disregard to traffic, very dangerous condition!!! My lady and I were on it south bound 2 days ago... Carl
  15. Roland. Is it on the Bounder, what brand? If you Goggle the manufacturer, with the Model number of the motor, you'll find out if they have discontinued it or it's still available. Mine was no longer being made (Girard) and a replacement awning was $900 + Tax and S&H = $1,200. I don't have one anymore! If you can get a replacement, it will have instructions with it. Works best with a helper.
  16. Tim. Great news. Glad your rolling again! Was the Mobile Tech from a major company or just a local? Carl
  17. drtramdo. Welcome! 08 Allegro, What? Gas or DP, model would help? There are extended warranties available from other firms out there, me I just put the premiums in a separate account every year. Something breaks, I pay for it. Always read the fine print...99% don't. Take a copy to an attorney, before you sign, a couple of hundred could save you a lot of grief. f442...Agree! Carl
  18. Joe. Mine ran me about $1790 + Tax, removal of old and installation of new, came to $2,200+/- ! I'm not 45 and short... Also, from NAPA. Blake. Your right, I forgot about Inverter! My bad.
  19. BillA. Not really, I had the 40KD with a 400 Cummins, Allison 3000, Onan 8KW, 2 AC's (needed 3). They also, made a 36 foot. I think it also had the 400Cummins, but not sure. I do know that they both where on the Freightliner chassis, mine had 295-80-22.5...don't know about the 36' Carl
  20. Red. How much does your trailer weigh empty and what do intend to carry? Also, what is your coach rated to haul? I have seen the end result of a coach rated to haul 5K and they where pulling a 10K trailer...very expensive! You can put any size hitch on the back, but that will not increase the rating of the coach! Carl
  21. Couple of drops, 3 in 1 oil, or sewing machine oil and 8 pound fishing line....wear leather gloves! Takes every thing off. I also use 3 in 1 on my step now, no more "clunk", in or out (found that out by accident, ran out of Lithium).
  22. Bill. Same one I have, I can pull it out about 2 feet.
  23. Tim. The only Coach that I know off that uses Volta Lithium battery is the 2017 and 2018 Prevost by Liberty! I have used all kinds of high dollar AGM's in my race boats (when I had them). Lifeline are the only ones that held up to the pounding of 120+ knots in offshore racing! I have AGM's in my coach, by NAPA (Western Auto) currently...only ones I could get in an emergency at the location I was at. So far, they are holding up far better than I expected. I do about 30% Freeway. If your replacing batteries every 18 months, you got a serious problem! That has nothing to do with the integrity of the battery! Carl
  24. I have to agree with Ray on that. Places like Motorhomes of Texas and PPL, is a great place to buy! Not sell. Carl
  25. Tim, I would love to have one, it could replace all 8 of my house batteries and be 600 pounds lighter...but, they stll have a nasty habit of catching fire...think the Dream Liner Airplane or Tesla!
