tetonchief. They are all nice men and women, until you file a claim! After I got my current coach (used), I opted to get a one year extended warranty from GS. I had 2 claims, that was refused because I did not have any service records from original owner! Warranty $ 2,419, Repairs $ 3607....I did not renew! Now I have a Coach account. Back in the 90's, I had extended warranty's on a couple off blue water Cigarette boats and it cost a bunch, but it did pay for most of my breakdowns and what it did not cover went on my Insurance, witch also cost a bunch. My CPA told me that I broke even after 7 years!!! I just can't justify the cost on a coach. Insurance, yes! I guess it all boils down to "what your comfort level is"! Carl

Thank you all! I did not know that Hydralift had a system for a trike! I will check it out, I hate leaving my bike at home. ultraglide. You could just get something for the bike and drive the car, as there is both of you. I don't have that ability, since my dog don't drive. Carl

Looking For A Good Insurance Company For Full Timers
manholt replied to ultraglide's topic in RV Insurance
Thank you, Medico. Glad to hear that. I was getting concerned about your earlier quote! Wish I could register my coach in FL. $60 for tags would be heaven! Here they go by weight.... Where in FL are you? Carl -
RVPA. Now that you have the opinion of a bunch of males...you really need to ask the wife! You said "travel 6 weeks at a time". What does the coach do the other 46 weeks? Are you in it for more than 6 weeks? Like a campground. When I'm home, I use my dishwashers all the time! Carl

Mattyboy, I would get a second opinion from an electrician, not a mechanic, about what needs to be replaced. Most insurance adjuster will simplify and low boy a claim if they can. I hope you have an Insurance that knows about and specialize in RV's, not just cars. Good Luck.

Roy and Emma, It's a pleasure to hear from someone who does not have a problem! Enjoy your retirement and happy trails. Carl C.

epstep, welcome to the forum. I had a 2006 Southwind for about 18 months and was very happy with it. Only reason I traded it for a 40' DP, is that back then I had to pull a big trailer full of parade funny cars (Shriners International) and the gas rig just could not do it! Good travels. Carl

I use Corell plates for all hot food and wash by hand, with HD Latex gloves. Also, only use plastic spoon for Blue Bell ice cream. Can't stand plastic knife and fork! It's just me, so why carry a bunch of dishes in dishwasher around until I get a full load? As a caveat, Corell will break in HOT water.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Problems -- Any Ideas?
manholt replied to ultraglide's topic in Type A motorhomes
There is a lot off disinformation out there! When I had my Allegro Bus 2011, I had what turned out to be a bad sensor, about half way between Odessa and Amarillo. I called Cummins in Amarillo and asked, "is it OK for me to drive the coach in? Or do I need a tow?" They told me to drive on in and no it would not damage my engine or exhaust system, nor would it do anything to my warranty! Prior to that, I was told that my engine would shut down and it would require a Cummins Tech to come and start the engine! Lots of $$$$ A friend had to replace the DEF tank (it got damaged in Alaska), he drove over 800 miles for a replacement, with no DEF! Also, no damage. So much hype from Govt agency's, Dealers and experts! Carl -
I would put it on/or in a trailer! Carl

I have it on mine and covered 16,000+/- miles last summer. Used jacks 2 times. Wish I had this system a long time ago! Carl

Correct Herman. But I, like Brett, would like to know more about the coach...30A or 50A. Would be nice to hear back from Mattboy Carl!

Kay...LOL. I have washer and drier, staked. Love it. As for dishwasher, I tried it a couple of times after throwing a dinner party. Did not like it, so now it is storage for all paper products. I can wash dishes, pots and pans (after feeding 5 friends and me) in 30 minutes or less and I know they are clean. Show the dishwasher to a woman, who has none and they want it! Will they use it? Have only met one! The rest, use it mostly for storing pots. Good luck and enjoy the trips! Carl

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Problems -- Any Ideas?

Ultraglide. Good Morning. El Paso and Albuquerque, have Cummins and bigger than Las Cruces. As for DEF, I also don't like it! Rich is right. Good Luck Carl -
Spot on, Kay. Another good reason to have a hard wired surge protector in coach and/or a portable at outlet. Mattyboy, did the electrician check to see what kind off amperage you needed? Was he/she a licensed electrician? Carl

I had all 64 lights replaced with LED at Lazydays in Tampa, where I bought my current coach. The one thing I was told is never use your bare hands to re-place or change a bulb, seems that oil from hands will shorten or make bulb inoperable. I have replaced all my house lights also and used latex gloves. My 2 cents. Carl

Had the same problem, turned out to be loose ground and the back up monitor was on for day! I might be wrong, but I believe that the Winnebago Journey also has docking lights. Carl

Thank you Herman. I guess that between the delayed action off Fogger and Flea/Tick spray, my problem might be solved...have not seen a bug since the 20th. Could also be that they died of old age! I also spread some powder tide on floor ( accident), if tide can make things go boom and clean cloths, I suppose it will also get rid of bugs...I'll try that in the garage when I get home. I'm currently freezing on a ranch between Ingram & Mountain Home, Texas...the ground around my bus is white! My beetle was gray! Thanks all. Carl

Towing A Lifted 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
manholt replied to gelo.keith's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Thank you for pics! Been wanting to do the same with mine. I currently use the normal set up, but want to put in full skid plates and can't do it. Where did you install the lights and brake connections, also safety cables? Carl -
I agree with State & National Parks, also most RV Parks. With a Jeep Wrangler 2 door as my toad, I'm at or slightly over the 65' limit in Texas, but each State has their own length limits. Anyone who has a 45' and a truck is beyond the 65'! A Staker trailer, has a different hook up for towing and attaches to a ball on back off bus. A 20 footer would be about 67' to 68'. Stakers are also close to the same height of bus. The down side is that they are heavy, expensive and triple axel. Unless you plan on staying in a Park for less than 3 months at a time, I would not bother. You really need 2 sites and both of them pull-thru. I have never had a problem with 4 wheels down and don't need a pull-thru! Good luck on full timing. Carl

Sorry! I miss read it. Herman is right. Good luck Carl

Both of mine are due this month. This years inspection sticker will be good for 9 months....I feel cheated! Carl
