As they say. "If it works, why fix it": For you I would say, it's working great ! Carl

Rich. Good thought about GFI...thankfully mine are visible, 2 in kitchen one in bathroom. Brett. Point taken! Wayne. I would be looking at the receptacle. Everything else, besides a GFI has been covered... Carl

Lyle. I can see all my rollers, by opening up the 3 bay doors with slide out. As for the screw, still don't know where it came from, I have a 3/8" x 1" magnet, on the end of a 3 foot x 1/4" round pole, that fits under the slide floor and I use it when slide is just into level when it comes in, at that point, the rollers are just clearing the up slope and you can use a slim led light to check for obstruction around front of roller. Got both items at True Value, Home Depot does carry it, but my local one was out of stock. Less than $15 for both items! A bad roller does happen, but I have never experienced it. Carl

MONTIE. I was down there 4 weeks ago, with a chapter of Escapees...we stayed in Lajitas at Maverick RV Park, Black Jack Spa and Golf Resort...$35 per night! It is well worth the visit, especially if your in a coach over 36 foot. It's located between Big Bend National Park (best done by toad) and Big Bend State Park. Each park entrances is about 40 miles away. Since DP's are not fond of lots of dust and sand, I would stay away from Rio Grande Village...but, your choice. Each Park has a RV primitive camp ground for rigs under 36 foot. There are 2 good ways in...Hwy 385 out of Marathon, thru Big Bend National Park (45 mph limit in Park) or Hwy. 118 out off Alpine. Definitely go to Mt, Davis and there is a campground there, with full H/U. Do not attempt to take your coach West of Lajitas...very narrow, sharp curves and 15% up/down hills! The toad is good for that run, 40 miles to entry of Big Bend State Park! Carl

"PEX" Water Lines In RV - Has Anyone Replaced Them?
manholt replied to MadHungarian's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
PEX came with the coach. Great stuff, had a bad (plastic) on/off ball valve and replaced with brass, Home Depot..they let me borrow the tool. Took 20 minutes in parking lot. My next house will have PEX. Carl -
Blake. Looks like you had fun! How many Beer stops? Looking forward to see the after! Unless I got it wrong, he does not do floating floor or electrical heat under wood...I may well be wrong! Call him before you get to much input on the brain! Carl

Since most coaches have a governor set at 86mph these days (stupid), it's a mote point Bill. BillA has a coach that will do about anything you ask of it, speed wise...first thing I did, was remove the governor...darn things are dangerous ! Most speed limits now are 65 to 80 Nation Wide...if your limited to 85, you'll take a county passing someone that's going 65. Most of the time, I'm at 64, West of Kerrville, TX, to Van Horn, I'm at 73+! That is 350 miles plus of nothing...

Would You Let Your Teenager Drive Your Motorhome?

2017 Vehicles Towable 4 Wheels Down
manholt replied to Dsellman's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Know one who tried that, one 135 mile round trip, 3/4 sold and a one ton bought! Carl -
Jerry. Welcome! Per your original Post question (things get lost sometimes), Go ahead and remove the shroud on AC, not hard...don't fall off the roof, turn off electric to coach and check the wires up there. The ground wire should be green and will be attached to metal. Remove it, clean connector and metal, make sure you have a good connection also that all other wires are tight...while up there, you might as well look at the other AC unit...good luck! Carl

Would You Let Your Teenager Drive Your Motorhome?
manholt replied to aztec7fan's topic in RV-ing with Kids
Joe. I would guess one of your girls, would need the same as yours! So, that means, you would have to be the instructor, then drive her to DMV for her test...if she passes, all the post's above, is a mote point. Bet your premiums would go up! Not to mention, your blood pressure... Carl -
Jim. Happy for you! It would help us, to help others in the future, if you would post the fix! Carl

FIVE. Agree with everything in your response, with one exception. Tireman said, you must stop and think, what to do, and do it often in order to know what to do..in the event off. He made no mention of doing that, should it be the actual event. You and I have both been there...but for one who never has, you can get a pre feel for what to do, if you go thru the does in your mind often enough! Carl

Lance. Since you are in your 30's, you are toda'ys norm! When FMCA and Good Sam was formed, the age group then was in their 50's+ and that was the norm! We had mostly white collar, RV owners and the mind set that mom did not work. In your generation, high tech and .com rules and a lot more $$$ to be made at an earlier age, as long as you have the right education, than back in the 1960-1980 era! When FMCA was founded, most "RV campgrounds" were pastures...no hook ups! Like everything, it evolved over time...That is one of the main reasons that we want to expand the Constitution and By laws as written in 1971, it's too restrictive, with no wiggle room for 2016. Backing Up The Coach With The Toad Attached
manholt replied to CarlAda's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
If your DW is in toad steering, it's then a lot easier, trick we learned in the 80's, backing out of Canada to USA side, after refusing to pay $1,800+ in liquor tax that included cooking sherry! about 100yds. Carl -
Jim. I had a similar problem...find the outside bay that has the motor, it will have a 3" round shaft on each end of motor, the arms for the slide are square and both motor shaft and arm will have a 1/4" x 2" bolt holding them together...one of my bolts had snapped in half and prevented one end of slide from coming all the way in=5" on mine ! Took 2 people outside and me working the switch inside to get it back in and locked. Carl

Joe. FIVE would have a 2013 engine, since he has a 2014 Eagle. Could be a 12 or 14, but I doubt that. Carl

Byron. On some of these post's things have a tendency to sometimes get lost...even people! Carl

Diesel Motorhome MPG-- Honest Answers Please

WBill, I would guess it has to do with the gears also? Carl -
I'm as confused as you!

Have not had a front blow out in about 30 years, but I do remember in my mind what not to do and what to do! The biggest problem, for me anyway, is that your "power steering" disappears, you still have it, but because of a front tire loss of air, you got to hang on and fight to hold the coach in control. Hard to keep off of brake, you will be surprised at how fast you go from 65mph to 10! Turn on signal or emergency blinkers ASAP after you have control and ease over to shoulder. Best thing of course is that you'll never need to find out. TPMS should be mandatory on all RV's...It's not cheap, but then what would it cost to replace half the side of a RV? Or a life?

Dicor comes to mind...it's good for all types of roofs! They also have tape and caulking,,,Amazon, Camping World, PPL. Carry it. Carl

Diesel Motorhome MPG-- Honest Answers Please
manholt replied to luckydog1949's topic in Type A motorhomes
Back to MPG. If your in a DP and getting more than 7mpg avg. then keep doing whatever it is your doing! I personally think that most folks, really don't care or pay much attention to it..I did not shell out hundreds of thousand dollars for great mileage! I did it for the ride and longevity of the Engine, towing ability and larger fuel, water and holding tanks...if I wanted to save $$$ at pump, I would have bought a green car and stayed in Motels!
