  1. Buy a pole, then you can sit and turn on switch by shower...LOL
  2. That storm has stalled out and it's ice rain all the way from Amarillo and North to Chicago! I would suggest I-30 to I-20 to I-10. I'm slowly going to AZ also, but not until the 22nd out of Ft. Stockton...this time off the year I-40 is not your friend. What is "new to you?? And color?"! Carl
  3. Puff. What goes in, will come back out...good luck on doing it in one piece! When your generator problem started, was it in a campground or where you on the road driving? I'm thinking a relay is going bad or a bad connection in your on/off switch in coach. Carl
  4. Joe. What now? Your dash must look like a airplane cluster by now! Carl

    HEST Lamp Came On

Time for an update on my exhaust problem! Spartan Chassis had a recall in August 2015 for the flex pipe, that Joe was referring to. I received the notice from Spartan this past December and after calling Spartan, had it shipped to Cummins in Houston and they did the install this past Wed. Now, I have no smell of exhaust in coach and both exhaust #1 & 2 are at the same temp +/- 20 degrees at 525. Coach ran good coming to Schulenburg, TX. all parameters on Silver Leaf was at the proper numbers, not mpg as I had a 30/40 mph head wind....got 4.7 at 60 on CC. Big thanks to everyone for your input... This "Rolling Earthquake" is on the road to AZ. Carl
  6. The only pattern, I see here, with age comes oops! I have had class "A's" since 1967 and had to wait until last year, to do my oops! The back end of my coach took out part of the front end of another coach, at the 6 State Rally. $7,200 out of my pocket... My new bay door was $472, fabricated at a Plasma shop in San Antonio, TX. That means Red Bay, charged $800 bucks too much.. and they make the part in house! I use Texas Custom Coach in Pipe Creek, TX. Labor $75 an hour, custom built items $80 an hour! Herman still digs me about it.. Carl
  7. Owners manual...yea, either TMI or not enough! But you really need to go thru it all on a rainy day or two, it will save you time and aggravation later on!
  8. I agree with most of what Bill say's and all of Herman. This time of year, is not spring, summer or fall, your first trip in a DP any length should not be fighting a possible blizzard and black ice roads. I would drop down to I-40 ASAP and go across to I-25N and up thru Raton to CS or Denver! It's a little longer, perhaps a day or two further, but your not driving a truck and long trailer, nor a sports car...take the time and get to know your coach. Put a anti-gel in your fuel tank. Carl
  9. Do you have a name on the control panel? If you can't find a number, give a call to Monaco Tech Dept and have your Vin# handy. They may have it in stock or know who the original manufacturer was...I don't know if Beaver in OR. still have a parts dept. Carl
  10. We are suppose to be paperless, to be green and save the trees! I'm guessing that 75% of the world never got that message! Then there is the National election, none of the tree huggers were paying attention to the mountain of mail I got... I get extended warranty solicitation on every car, truck and coach that I don't have anymore, including the ones I have! I'm on a no call list, that don't stop them either! The forever stamp goes to 49 cents next month! Man, our postage is cheap!!!
  11. Herman. We had the same weather and temps on Island. Be glad you where not on I-20 or 30! Gladewater got down to 6 with a 25/35 North wind. First time that I opened my bays in coach and placed 3 oil circulating heaters in garage to keep coach from freezing ! That's not my house garage. BillA. Your right about lots of un answered questions! Something here that is being left out by OP! Carl
  12. It's a throw of the dice. If mine was an 04, I would probably have your policy also! Happy that it worked out and your on the road again or able to get on again! Carl
  13. Tracey. Welcome! The few times that I'm in an area that might have a hard freeze, I put a clamp shop light in my water and sewage bay. I also have heated bays that run off Aqua Hot. I use a foam tube, split down length and place around water hose. I also carry 10-1 gal. jugs of water in coach to use for whatever. How did you store your fresh water hose, since it was frozen? Try a hair blower on your outside pipes, I doubt your pipes are frozen inside coach, just turn a faucet on first. Carl
  14. Well, I guess we got to get back on subject and DOT...moderator would like it. Keon. Pretty funny! Carl
  15. 2008Monaco. Have you checked toe in and front end alignment by a shop? Have not heard about any Chevy, that is 4 wheel down, having a "wobble" problem! Carl
  16. Kay. Wish more States was that way! Perhaps they take less Dunkin Donut breaks...
  17. Herman. You got it... Hence the reason I try to be somewhere else in September! Carl
  18. Bud, Is that a generator slide out in front? I had a 07 WB Tour 40' DP and the hinges would open by themselves and slide would come all the way out, when I applied the brakes...a real trill. I replaced the hinges with locks. Took longer to open, but then it was only needed for Service and had no further problems! It was the same latch look you have for access to engine! Carl
  19. Yea, I noticed that last year. My best friends daughter built a massive house on 5ac. in 2015. I wish I had bought 50+ac. on I-12, between BR and Slidell, 25 years ago! Richard lives in Kaplan, but worked for Chevron and that's what he did, instead of a 401k ! Chevrons Covington office is sitting on part of his acreage and they don't even know it..LOL Carl
  20. Puff, it sounds like a loose connection or a bad ground connection. I don't have to tell you what to look for, but take a couple of hours and go thru your system. I had an on/off problem with my 10Kw last September, it was a bad oil sensor and it would send info that it was low oil when in fact it was full, gen would stop running, after a couple of hours it would start again. No fun in 108 degrees from Roswell, NM to Bandera, TX.
  21. Wayne. What happened in or too the other 2 States? My problem with any sensor device, is time and distance, in the event all power or AC is off on a 90+ degree day, the coach is going to be in the 120+ range when you get back and you'll likely have a dead pet. I like peace of mind when I'm away from the coach! Each it's own thing.
  22. Just one model, the Jeep Cherokee. It started when Daimler Corp. bought Dodge! Model year 2014, 15, 16 and probably also 17 now! They came out with a after market wire harness last year, that was suppose to fix the problem! I towed a Isuzu Trooper 11 during the 80's, Jeep Wranglers and Chevy trucks from Colorado to 2500 Duramax and never had a "wobble"! But then they where all 4x4 and standard or automatic shift. None was AWD or full time 4 wheel drive, like the new Cherokee! The Isuzu had a bumper mounted "A frame" hitch that connected to a 2" ball on coach...back then there was no Blue Ox or Roadmaster Sterling or Falcon like we have today. You could see 100 coaches and one would have a toad.. Carl
  23. Your Mini Cooper is worth more than you think. Saw a 2006 at CarMax in Houston, TX. $6,499 about a month ago...Google CarMax, they'll give you listings for whole US or local, might be a good place to check out a trade or less $ vehicle! Carl
