  1. Great idea to ask questions! You hit the nail on the head, most don't ask until its too late. Hydraulic jacks have a stop on the ram inside the cylinder, unless that fails its not an issue to worry about. Battery light; as mentioned those will need to be load tested individually, if you look on the sides of the battery it will have a round sticker with something like B1 which is a date code, chart is below to identify when it was made.
  2. If it shut itself down, that's a relatively expensive problem that a regen will not fix, the filter will have to be removed, cleaned and reinstalled. If you shut it down in the middle of a regen, that's worse, all of that high temperature within the exhaust system and no air flow will probably crack the filter and or damage sensors ($$$$$) from an improper shut down. Part of a regen is a cool down cycle in the end, that is a crucial task. Sounds like the filter pressure differential is out of spec and the engine is in Derate (power cut back, limp mode), I'm guessing the filter is plugged to a point where a forced regen will not cure the problem. You will need to get that to an authorized Cummins shop ASAP.
  3. Wait until January in PA then I'll need that photo to survive
  4. Great site and view. thanks for the information.
  5. Rich, those came from the Ford service manual for his year F53. The F53 is wired for exterior lighting and comes with a 7way trailer plug from ford, the body company just plugs their harness into the Ford for exterior lighting at the take offs shown in the schematic.
  6. Ok, the common item I see is the trailer plug on the rear, when you turn the ignition on it energizes a power feed to the plug, if there is a short back there it could back feed down the parking light circuit. Un plug the trailer plug right behind the 7 way, replace the fuse and try it again.

    Body Side Trim

Yea, the tacky wall paper can hide a bunch of mishaps
  8. Carl, that is an amazing story. This is why I brought this post back to life. I was pleasantly interested in Hermans story, it drew me in.
  9. This post needs to continue with all of the Newbies......

    Body Side Trim

I figured all of this out, just have to take the time and fix it, and think about how I should attack. The old owner had something mounted in the closet, he ran screws into the closet wall that were too long, it appears he struck the truss in the side wall of the coach and snapped off one screw just as it dimpled out the side skin, that is what's causing the push out. Thinking I will remove the inside closet wall and see if I can remove the screw, perhaps inject some glue and go outside and push it back into place. I told my DW, if I destroy the interior wall in the closet, you get the cedar closet you admired at the RV show.
  11. We tow a 4 door Wrangler behind us now, seats 5 comfortably, nice to drive (DW's daily driver). Plenty of room in the back for stuff you might want to purchase. This is one of many Jeeps we have had over they years, the last 4 door we had was an 09, I towed it with our Class C with a V10 it weighed 1800 over my max towing capacity, when we traded down to a 2 door Wrangler (a little over 1000lbs less)It didn't feel any different to me behind the RV. Get a high quality tow bar and a Proportional breaking system and enjoy it. I wouldn't look toward a Patriot or Compass due to the weight difference.
  12. Richard, beautiful coach! Please post some interior photos
  13. is that what I have to look forward to next summer?
  14. 3? I carry two. 2, 15's and the coupler to connect them. Just used them on our last trip to DE
  15. While I do agree some are worse than others. And some don't give proper access for repairs and maintenance. Nothing like needing a sawzall to access the engine
  16. Obedb, maybe you are thinking of Winnie?
  17. Carl, good to know for when we head your way next summer, I'll have to remind the wife people over in those parts are friendly. Every once in a while I get an older couple that is friendly and wants to chat, any in our age group or younger wouldn't give us the time of day if I asked. I'm a friendly guy I always say hello and good morning to people, I get snubbed. If I'm near the coach, if I'm not they will respond back, very strange. I hope that don't make its way onto here if this restructures, it will be a sad day.
  18. Here is a topic that might help; Just my personal opinion, If I were shopping for a new coach Newmar would be my 1st choice, probably my only on that scale of a product. The placement of items that require maintenance on a Newmar are placed properly for access, they seem to be the only one that has common sense in their engineering practices. You never hear someone bragging about how they had to drive 2000 miles for warranty repairs in a Newmar, that in of itself still baffles me why that is so common with Tiffin and that they allow their dealer support to be so poor.
  19. Ditto! That has paid for itself 5x over in discounts. We hung out at a GS rally once, we were out of place and didn't realize it, surrounded by trailers that only go no more than 100 miles 3x a year, they looked at us like we were strange when we discussed all the trips we have taken in the coach. Once they saw what we had for an RV, the cold shoulders came out and that was the end of that. They like you when they think they have something on you, once the hand changes you are ousted. I hope this is just an East Coast thing and its not this way all over the US, its getting old.
