  1. 2stroker, that is common with HEUI fuel systems. Its actually caused by the high pressure oil regulator and an imbalance of oil pressure in the fuel injectors/pump system, sticking regulator or oil gumming in the fuel injectors. While cranking you need a minimum of 100 PSI of high pressure oil to actuate the fuel injectors, once at idle the pump is usually around 500 + PSI, pressurizing the system, when you step on the accelerator or bump the idle the regulator accommodates by raising oil pressure all the while its still trying to establish a base pressure balance, thus the loping idle, or caused by oil trying to force its was through sludge and crud. Some will lope violently at idle when first started, I get it that would bug me also. You could ask a CAT dealer if a fix was ever implemented or what they recommend, I have had some stop with a new regulator on older models, however I believe the regulator in that year is built into the pump and no longer serviceable separate. I have also had good luck with this additive cleaning up stuck spool valves in the injectors and gummed up oil in the regulator. It goes into the engine oil and works wonders on HEUI fuel systems for their quirky issues. I would add this on Ambulances once a year at an oil change interval just for routine maintenance. The problem is engine oil is not really designed to be compressed to over 3000 PSI and as a result it breaks down in strange ways. http://www.archoil.com/ar9000-friction-modifiers/
  2. Here's the headlights I put in two years ago
  3. Thought the same until I drove one, Spring suspension in the front , the term "Shaken not stirred" comes to mind . I agree, they are much easier to work on and much more accepted in a truck shop environment.
  4. Freightliner is be dropping the ball lately on their tech line or playing possum. I have heard of this happening on a few RV's and its very common on the M2 truck with is similar to the RV chassis, but with the engine in the front (lots of shared components). That and the wipers coming on by themselves along with hazard lights and heater fan is also VERY common on the truck line. If it went to Zero, it wasn't an air leak or you would have come to a fast stop when the parking brake applied. My bet, another computer blunder or sending unit problem. Try and see where the gauges get their signal, start with checking the electrical connection for corrosion.
  5. Bill, looks great!! I see you had Ford F-series Bronco lights from 87-91. Here is the link; top row third light in. Dominator lights https://www.iowa80.com/browse/semi-truck-fog-lights-and-driving-lights/FOGLIGHT/?catPage=2
  6. Bill, that was the only way I could copy the link . See below...

    Best Tow Dolly Tires

I had a tire failures on my Demco dolly, did the same, upgraded the wheels to 15" and installed a ST225/75R15 10ply trailer service tire made by Maxxis, never had a problem after. Taller tire spins slower, was the thought behind it. I had to raise the fenders slightly, but both were torn up pretty bad from the other tires already. Try a heavier tire trailer service and better brand.
  8. Ok, had enough of not being able to see very well in the dark. Installed these in place of ,my driving lights. https://www.iowa80.com/view-cart/ I have a two way rocker switch on the dash for the Low/high function. While at it, I put in a set of Sylvania Silver star headlamp bulbs. They fit perfectly in the existing spot. Only issue; they are designed to mount into a headlamp bucket with trim ring, I had to fabricate mounting brackets.
  9. Patrick, I used the Hopkins kit on our 2014 JKU, no issues. I understand the Mopar kit is easier to install as it only plugs into the interior of the Jeep, you don't have to route the harness to the rear. But it is 4x the price; https://www.moparpartsdeals.com/oem-parts/mopar-tow-vehicle-wiring-harness-82211156ab?origin=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5vaGzOX51QIV1TqBCh2icAGYEAQYAiABEgIBIvD_BwE
  10. RSBILL, I change mine every two years. Due again in 2018, last time I installed a remanufactured dryer assembly, The previous dryer appeared to be all original, including the desiccant . Some genius built a wooden box around it and moved it back off the factory mount with a hole in the side of the box. I couldn't locate the dryer when we bought the coach, at the time it was 12 years old with 59,000 miles on it. I removed the box, put it back where it came from the factory and replaced the entire unit then. The only thing I could think was he didn't like the noise when it purges, and he was successful, you couldn't hear it purge, I swore it didn't have one.
  11. DD, replace it in the am, as mentioned mark the lines maybe photo the line configuration with your phone and take the old one with you. There isn't much to them and they are prone to failure. I also carry a spare like bill does. Several resemble each other, with the correct one in hand should eliminate any confusion.
  12. BBB, huh, never thought of going that route. Do you have a link?
  13. Replaced my center caps and lug covers. These are vented to allow hot air to escape, the center cap on the front can be removed to inspect oil levels easily, unlike the Monaco covers that came with it.
  14. I voted Few items to note if anyone read the information in the magazine, that was a bit confusing, I wasn't impressed at the verbiage utilized, I feel it was written as a play on words to confuse the situation, frankly it ticked me off. Right along side of "towable". Trailers (most) are not "self contained", no generators. That phrase was used at every RV dealer I have ever walked into while shopping both times, every dealer told us trailers are NOT self contained unless you special order it with a generator, even then only certain makes and models offer it.
  15. His CW stores are terrible and mismanaged. He was quoted in an article not to long ago about how he doesn't like RV people. Thats enough for me to stay away from his businesses.
  16. Obedb, same system in ours, never used it. When you plug the hose in ours turns on, either location (kitchen or bedroom). We also use a Dyson cordless, resides in the bedroom in its cradle out of sight. Between the bag of hose and needing to purchase clean out bags we opted to forget it was there. It's unplugged now.
  17. Bill, we want to hear about the trip on the forum, not the 6:00 news, behave yourself!
  18. A little patience on the motorhome's part would have prevented all of that ciaos! Carl, I have to agree with you and it seems like its getting worse as each day passes by.
  19. Puff, Rand McNally is a slimy company. I kept following their instructions updating sent it back, Updating....updating they assured me the fix was in the next update all the while the warranty clock was ticking, they were stalling me and then denied any further assistance under warranty.
  20. Nice!! Let us know if it worked! I am pulling mine apart this weekend (light out on a gauge), ill snap a photo of the back if you still need it.
