  1. There are 3 options to this situation. Check it yourself, have some one else check it, or let it fail and then replace the whole thing. The option is up to the individual.
  2. Thats why I do all my own wiring, then I know its done right.
  3. I would go with a major brand such as Sony, JVC, Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc. There are many models with different features to choose from.
  4. If the circuit is completed to ground you may have a short to ground. Test the leads on the switch. Disconnect the wires and if one of them is hot with the key on and the other is not and the light is on then its not the switch. If the both disconnected wires are grounded then you have a short to ground.
  5. The reason you do not want to leave the black tank valve open is that the liquid drains out and leaves the solids to pile up. You will have to then fill with water and let it soak for a while to soften it before you can do a complete dump.
  6. The switch on mine is on the yellow valve release.
  7. This type of thing is common in the industry. Going back a lot of years I had a 1980 Sportscoach which was built on a Dodge M600 chassis. Dodge quit building that chassis in 1978 and called it a 1979 model. Since the chassis is the foundation of the motorhome it would be nice to know what you are getting.
  8. When my cooler hose clamp broke, I couldn't run above an idle.
  9. Some years ago I had the factory in Elkhart replace a cooling unit under warranty. It failed so they did it again, It also failed and I lost my cool. After 3 failed units and 2 weeks in Elkhart I had a discussion with the company and talked them into installing a complete new unit on their dime. What really upset me is as the new one was being installed one of the workers told me that they never had sucess in replacing a cooling unit and this is the factory talking. It was a RM100. To this day I don't recommend a cooling unit be replaced. In our shop we refused to do replacements and just sell new units. Much more satisfied customers.
  10. I have always maintained that "toys" should be purchased with cash. All my boats and motorhomes in the last 38 years have been bought with cash. Sometimes I had to wait until I had enough money.
  11. I have an automatic watering system with a gravity feed tank. Works perfect and is very simple to use. Just keep the bottle full of distilled water.
  12. I talked with an Allison tech at one of the FMCA conventions and he told me to disconnect the cooler return line at the transmission and put it in a bucket and then overfill the fluid 4-6 quarts. Start the engine and when 4-6 quarts of fluid go into the bucket shut the engine off. What has happened is the fluid from torque converter and the cooler has been replaced with new fluid and not diluted the new fluid with some old fluid. He told me that they do this at the factory. Then its good to go for 300,000 miles without a second change at 25,000 miles.
  13. I think I would go for a test drive in one thats already been converted to see if it really makes enough difference and is worth the money.
  14. You can check the flame temperature with a infrared thermometer.
  15. That should work just fine. There are battery mats also available.
  16. You might consider just using a standalone cooler with a fan and not run it through the radiator.
  17. I've toured the Newmar plant 3 times and am very impressed with the quality of craftsmenship and the quality of materials.
  18. If you have enough room to run the plumbing it can be done. I have done it in the past.
  19. If the light fixture does not come with a switch you can add one to most bases. Usually take a 1/2 inch hole. Switches are available at hardware stores, toggle, lever.chain,etc.
  20. I'm not talking about the engine manufacturers but rather the coach builder. He's the one watching the dollars. I have had this disscussion with several coach builders.
  21. It sounds like the brake was released or just doesn't hold. I changed my arms to the new style which has a crank and worm gear, no springs. It won't release unless you crank it out.
  22. There are 3 ways for the coach to get 120 volts. Plug in the shore cord to a receptacle, it has an automatic line transfer switch, or there is a manual transfer switch. You should have one of the three.
  23. Manufacturers use the least expensive filters to do the job. Thats why they don't recommend a premium filter such as K&N.
