  1. Our last coach came with AGMs. Even though it was RV number five, and I'd been a big time boater for years (used 4 D's in the last one), I didn't know an AGM from an ATM. Now I know enough that I'll never own another RV/Boat with other than AGMs. Too many advantages to even list.
  2. You must be very careful as to where you live, where the coach is tagged, what state your DL says on it and how often and how long you travel out of state. My state got smart and noticed lots of RVs that were always in the area, but had Montana tags. Long story short, those drivers that lived here but had Montana tags paid huge fines, all the back taxes that they had avoided and interest on the taxes they paid that were "late."

    Tire Air Pumps

My coach has the same on board air system. It's a PITA...have to start the coach, use high idle and time the process as to when to use the air system so it actually puts air in these big tires. Got tired fooling with it and got a Porter-Cable, 6 gallon, 150 PSI, portable compressor at Lowes for $100. I got mine on sale, the one in the link is $130. I never leave home without it. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Porter-Cable-6-Gal-150-PSI-Portable-Air-Compressor-C2002/203162815?&cm_mmc=Shopping|THD|B|0|B-BASE-D25H+Air+Compressors|&mid=qhRFVpyN|dc_mtid_8903vry57826_pcrid_73804731432598_pkw__pmt__
  4. Happy Birthday to you guys in the junior services.
  5. Roger Hunckler, the owner of Magna Shade, has also done extensive testing and states black windshield and tire covers are the best. I had five of his window shades on a previous coach and have tire shades on this coach. http://www.magneshade.com/
  6. I drain everything, put pink stuff in the P traps, and two trouble lights in everything likely to freeze.
  7. I for one would sure like to see the CRV go back to being four down towable.
  8. Agree, or a fluid that is on the Transynd list as being compatible.
  9. Here's the American Coach logic for AC numbering. For years there were two ACs, front #1, rear #2. When they added AC #3, they didn't want to confuse the techs, so they simply made it #3....and put it in the middle. Don't know when they changed the numbering, but my 14 Eagle's ACs are #1, #2, #3....front to rear.
  10. I don't want to muddy the waters, but a note on 'charging' the batteries, not necessarily running off them. When I'm going down the road, the alternator charges the chassis batteries only. Once that charge rate is 13.3 or higher, the system allows the charge to go through the chassis batteries and charge the coach batteries as well. When on shore power, the process works in reverse in that the coach batteries are being charged and when the charge rate reaches 13.3 or higher, the system lets the charge to through the coach batteries and charge chassis batteries.
  11. Call Good Sam. They will check around and find you the best deal. They saved me $600 for the same coverage.
  12. Same with us. Our previous coach had Flexsteel, they looked great but not very comfortable,. This coach has Villas, don't look as good, but much more comfortable.
  13. I would not rank manufacturers. All of them have lower priced DPs and higher priced DPs. All have their share of issues, there is no perfect manufacturer. Go out and look and see what's out there. It's easy to do research on line. When you see one you like, bing it and you'll instantly have many to look at. That way you can see what everybody has to offer, check them out on line, then go look at them.
  14. I take it you know the Allison 3000 is rated for a max of 450 HP and 1,250 ft/lbs of torque.
  15. My last coach had a 2862 in it and called for a 10 amp fuse....is 5 amp the correct fuse?
  16. Why would we "go under" if the vote fails? All the powers that be have to do is shut down FMCA Assist, and we are back to the way it used to be. We won't need the revenue or the membership of towables.
  17. Save your self some money. In the future use the Rotella in both the eng and gen....and avoid Onan brand oil. I don't mean to infer Onan makes bad oil, but $11 quart plus shipping is pretty steep.
  18. Very few miles for a 16 year old coach. Be sure to check the maintenance records (engine, trans, gen, etc, for fluids and filters), tires, all seals, parts rubber/plastic and as noted above....water leaks. Has it been stored inside or outside, that will make a big difference? These diesels like to run, not sit.
  19. Nothing to taking my panel off...just a lot of screws, some a bit hard to access. Take a picture with your phone so you'll know what goes where when reassembling.
  20. I prefer the old fashioned way of washing/waxing. I wash the entire coach, then dry it if it spots...sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. Then for about three hours a day for the next five or six days, I put on NuFinish or Meguiers Cleaner Wax as I work my way around the coach. Granted, it takes more time and work than the Wash/Wax products, but only do it once a year. When I did it this August, the coach was still beading water when it rained. As long as we're on the subject, here's what else I put on my coach: Metal antennas on the roof: NuFinish or Meg Cleaner Wax. Plastic roof vents, plastic shower sky light, glass solar panel: Protect All Black plastic A/C covers: Back to Black All lights: Protect All Stainless steel trim around bottom of coach and around steps: Meg Cleaner Wax...tried others, this is the easiest to get on and especially off. Windshield: Rejex Radiator grill cover (aluminum): Meg Cleaner Wax Tires: 303
  21. Yep, that's why my manual says to lube them monthly.
