  1. Joe, On our Dynasty the slides will not work with the Ignition switch, key, in the on position. Must be off. Herman
  2. Todd, Changes are always difficult especially with computers. Program changes even worse. Thank you for all you are doing to make this transition smoother for all of us. Your efforts don't go unnoticed. Again, Thanks Herman
  3. Tim, Thanks for the update. Lots of problems have been solved that we never know about or what cured the problem. You are correct, Tiffin is an upstanding company and once again Bob proved that in Perry. Thank you Bob for demonstrating what real customer service is all about. Herman
  4. Granpa, It is a beautiful car. If it is to be used for your tow vehicle you should only tow it in an enclosed trailer. It is too nice to be exposed to the dust, dirt and all other kind of debris these motor home can kick up. But it sure would be the talk of the town at a Rally. Herman
  5. My tire dealer, a good friend of mine, told me on both Heavy truck and motor home tires the only warranty is Mfg. Defects. No time, mileage or road hazard. Do I understand this wrong? Herman (???)
  6. Thanks for all the information. When I last replaced my tires I went with G670's. I have no complaint, they have served us well. However I am going to have to replace all 8 of my tires soon. I will compare pricing with the Tire program and my local dealer. I will most likely go with the Michelins and change the fronts to 315s. Being in Texas we have to go through both Oklahoma and Louisiana to get to most of our destinations and maybe the softer ride may help. When going through either one it's like a 6.8 earthquake. Herman (??)
  7. Thanks Carl, I hadn't noticed that change. I thought I still had to go to the Forum to respond. Send me a PM when you can and I will try the new response. Herman (? I think)
  8. I feel like Vennie Babareno on Welcome Back Kotter, "I'm So Confused". Questions, What happened to the number of post on my profile?? What Happened to our signature information?? I know that some changes are good, however I'm like Carl Ada, I'm Ole ****. But I know Todd will walk us through this, the sooner the better. Herman (I think)
  9. Carol, To replace the struts on my coach I use a 24" of 1" x 1" x 1/4' piece of angle iron. I have taken a large Drill bit and drilled a indention on the inside of then angle. This allows me to pry the strut up and out and replace them. This just gives me some leverage to compress the strut enough to go back over the post. You can just post the clip off the old strut to remove it from the post. To replace the strut just slip a small flat screw driver blade under the clip just enough to pull it out a very short distance. When you have slipped it over the post just remove the S/D. Hope I have explained it well enough. Herman
  10. Alde, If you will take a close look at your lenses you will see a number at the bottom. Google that number and you should find what the lenses were used on. They will the same lens used on either a car or truck. As an example the head lights on our coach come from a 1996 BMW. Try this, I hope it helps. HERMAN
  11. Rick, If you plan on financing a coach then if you can put off retiring for a few months. This way it will show that you have a steady income. After you obtain the loan then retire. They are not allowed to ask your age or if you plan on retiring soon. Good luck which ever way you decide go. Herman
  12. This has been an interesting post. It has been viewed 39,934 times with only 80 responses. Of those 80, 75% (60) say they change their own oil and 25% (20) say they don't. I was wonder of these numbers how many that do change their own oil are gas coaches and how many are diesel? I have no way to drain 24+ quarts of used oil nor a way of disposing of it. Herman
  13. Thanks, now I understand. This is where having your coach weighed would help make the decision on the larger front tire. But the old pun still makes sense on the rear, "Size Does Matter". Herman
  14. JR Cary posted this question in July of 2015. Never another post, I wonder if he ever found the cause of his dilemma or is he just driving down the road with his slide going in and out. Now that is a sight I would pay five bucks to see. Herman
  15. Back a few year ago I saw a Safari coach in Lawton Oklahoma that had both, a front and a side entry. There was the standard drivers and passengers seats and had a bench seat with three sets of belts behind the driver. My only thought was that it had to have been a special order unit. Herman
  16. HemiGpa, Welcome to the Forum. Have you joined FMCA yet? If not, stop what you are doing and do so right now. Just kidding, it is a great organization with many benefits to the Motor Home owner. We are having wonderful weather right now here in North Texas. Where will you be coming from and where in Texas will you be visiting? We ask lots of question here on the Forum. Herman
  17. superkoop, Welcome to the Forum. You may turn the engine by hand if you pull all spark plugs. Then you can turn the engine rotate the crank to the timing make (top dead center). at this point you will be right on or 180 degrees out. Compare the timing mark to the number one cylinder. If number one is to the top, you can check by pushing a small screw driver into the spark plug hole, then you should be it the top. Them matching the rotor to the Number on plug wire on the distributor cap, back the rotor up just a bit so that the marks will line up when you put the distributor in. Another way you might try, if you haven't cranked the engine over, is to try and put the distributor back in. If it drops right in then you are close. the distributor drives the oil pump and if you haven't cranked the engine over then the pump drive should be in the same place. You may have to put the distributor in more then once. You will have to move it one notch at a time till it drops in completely. At this point you will be dead on or 180 degrees out. If out just pull the distributor out rotate the rotor 180 degrees and drop it back in. This is what I would try first. However the most expeditious thing might be to call your Road Side Assist or Insurance company, have it towed to your local mechanic. Now, might I ask, why did you pull the distributor in the first place? Not trying to be a smart posterior just wondering. Good luck Herman
  18. Rosie, Welcome to the Forum and congratulation to you husband on his retirement. Have you'll joined FMCA? If not the benefits are out standing for RV'ers. If you would like more information just PM me. Herman
  19. Grammygrams, Welcome to FMCA and to the Forum. Maybe your Door Latch assembly could be rebuild. Go to your local lock smith. He may be able to repair it. if so it may give you time to find a replacement. You might also check with a mobile home service center. Some of the doors in RVs are the same as mobile homes. What part of Texas are you in? My wife and I are members of the Lone Star Chapter of FMCA and would like for you to join us at one of our Rallies. If you would like, you may send me a Personal Message from here. Just click on my name and then click "Send Personal Message". Herman
  20. John, Welcome to the Forum. Many different covers. Please list coach make, model and year as well as brand and model of refrigerator. Then we can better assist you. Herman
  21. Widewader, Welcome to FMCA and the Forum. Your plaque(aka goose egg) will be vinyl. You will also receive the Family Motor Coach magazine each month, information on the Michelin tire discount program. Another great benefit is the FMC Assist medical repatriation program. All great things plus you become a member of a 80,000 person family. Christmas cards optional. Herman
  22. Bill, You are correct that the 295 is only 0.78" wider then the 275. That wouldn't matter much on a single tire however on a set of duals that takes 1.56" out of the spacing between the duals. Tireman knows the correct terminology, all I know is driving down the highway on a day when the temperature 105 degrees, I want as much space as I can get between my duels. I'm still wondering about the post where it was said that he had 315's on his front steering tires and 295's in the drive tires. Tireman can you explain that for me, Thanks. Herman
  23. Speck, Motor Homes of Texas has 98, 40 foot Newell with a mid entry. If I remember, it's something like $74,500.00. http://motorhomesoftexas.com/ Herman
  24. Gary, it's a large state, what area you would like to be in? We have been there once. The one thing we found hard to find were parks with full hook ups. Give an area and I'm sure you will get lots of good suggestion. Good luck and enjoy the trip. Herman
  25. Due to lows water pressure in son many places, I am considering adding or modifying my present pump to be used to increase the incoming water pressure. Haven't quite designed it yet but will post the results when I do. Lots of times I will fill my tank and just use the pump since it is much better pressure. But that is a pain so I will go with my additional pump idea. Herman
