  1. Roland, The steak Bill is speaking of is at the Big Tex Steak house on I-40 in Amarillo. When it first opened many years ago it was on Route 66. They have a 72 oz. with potatoes, salad and roll. All of which you must eat in one hour. If you do it is free. If not you must pay. Once you start you can not leave the table. If you throw up you are through. They have a wall full of those that have eaten the whole thing. However there are many more that did not eat the whole thing then those that did. It is one of those places you have to go to at least once in your travels. Herman
  2. Tommy and Kim, Welcome to FMCA and to the Forum. It appears that you have already set up an account. Give it another day and try again. If it doesn't work, then contact webmaster@fmca.com. He will be more than happy to assist you. Again, welcome. Herman
  3. Lyle, you might also pour some bleach down each drain let it sit for a short period of time then flush throughly. Then I would flush the entire fresh water system. Add bleach to a full tank, drive a short distance then run water through all faucets both hot and cold till you smell the bleach. Let the system sit for a while then drain tank and refill and flush till you can no longer smell bleach. System should be sanitized. Herman
  4. Sorry Roland, I got carried away with all the great places between Tenn. and AZ. Gladewater is way south of I-30. Shallow Creek is still a nice C/G but a little far south. If you go I-40 there are several Parks in Amarillo. On the West of Amarillo there is the small town of Vega. On the Business I-20 there is a good over night stop, I believe the name is Walnut RV Park. If you go through the Dallas/Ft. Worth on I-30 I would pick up I-20 (I-635) and skirt the southern side of Dallas. And staying on I-20 you do the same to Ft. Worth. I-20 and I-30 merge into I-20 on the West side of Ft. Worth. In Weatherford there is a nice park, Oak Creek. It is right on I-20. Nice park with level concrete pads. With the dropping of the pricing of oil, you should find plenty of RV Parks in the Midland/Odessa area. When going through Midland check out the Comparative Air Force at the Midland/Odessa Airport. As said before watch the weather on the roads west of both Amarillo and Abilene. This time of year the weather can be nice one day and rough the next. Enjoy your trip and AZ. Herman
  5. Parks that drain their system will normally have water near the office where you can fill your tank before parking. Herman
  6. Carl mainly it was the controller. I will take his a picture and text it to you tomorrow. Herman
  7. Bring enough wine, cheese and crackers to the Meet the Forum and having your teeth removed won't be a problem. Look forward to seeing you again. Herman
  8. moutonla, Be sure to come to the Meet the Forum get together. It will on Thursday, March the 17th at 5:00 pm in Seminar Room 5. But be sure and check the schedule for any changes. It will be a good time to put a face to the friends you have made through the Forum. See you there. Herman
  9. Joe, Carl and Patron, Thanks to each of you for sharing your positive experiences with both RV Dealers. Good report are always nice to hear for all of us as well as the Dealers. Thanks again, Herman
  10. green, Drilling into S/S with a left twist drill is a good idea. But use a lubricant to help keep down the heat on the drill bit. Might I suggest that you use WD 40. It will keep down the heat and at the same time penetrate the threads and help keep down the stripping of the treads. If you are able to remove the broken bolt you may have to put in a heli-coil to replace stripped treads. In trying to drill out the you have nothing to loose but lots to gain $$$. Now if that doesn't work I have a unit that I just removed from my step that your can have for the Gear box. Its yours if you will pay the freight. I can even try to remove the gear box and send just that to you. Let me know. Herman
  11. Patriot44, Welcome to FMCA and the Forum. I see that you travel with your children, which is great, I know that the Winter FMCA Family Reunion in Perry would not work for you. However there is the Summer Reunion this August in West Springfield, MA. The dates are Aug 3rd to the 7th. There will be things for all age of children and there are Seminars and Vendors for the Adults. There is nightly entertainment but most of all there the area would be a great area to visit for the children. Herman
  12. Carl, If you are looking for alternate places for RV Repair and Painting, here are a couple that are very good and really nice folks to deal with. Xtreme Graphics in Nacogdoches, TX 936-560-5888 (Tell Gene or Jennifer I told you to contact them) www.xtremegraphics.com North Texas RV Repair in Denton, TX. 888-399-0973 www.ntrvrepair.com Good Luck and hope to see you in Perry. Herman
  13. Pallums, Sorry for your dilemna. But you are trying to make since of a state government. Can't be done. In Texas my coach annual registration is way over $300.00 and several others state are much higher. Herman
  14. J. If I can get a residential referigerator through my front door the couch should also pass. One thing I did before trying to put the unit through the door was to make a light weight frame the exact size is the refridgerator. I tried and it fit, when installaling the unit I did have to back out and remove the TV. It hung on the corner. Good luck. Herman
  15. Roland, Have you tried Drivers Ed? Herman
  16. Lj, There is a company that sells tour buses. They have from 6 to as many as 15 bunks. I believe their web site is http://www.busforsale.com/home/index.php Herman
  17. Roland, If you are a golfer then there is another park near Gladewater, Texas. Shallow Creek. Nice park, all concrete and on the Shallow Creek Golf Course. It is about 7 miles south of Gladewater and about 2 miles from I-20. Herman
  18. Carl, That is one coach I would not like to have purchased. The fresh water pump may have been connected to the holding tank. Herman
  19. J, I'm not sure if it is 3M or Diamond Shield. But it is real bad. Waiting till Gene has an opening to have it cleaned off, repaired and the front cap repainted. Herman
  20. Wine, cheese, Doritos and more wine, who cares about maintenance. (that is until time to leave) Herman
  21. Puff, I have used the same space for my ladder. I used 5" PVC. I would do the same with the sewer hose, however my bay door for the Fuel/Propane tank is under the slide. The first thing the DW does is put out the slide when we park. Then it is too hard on my knees to get to it. I do like the gutter idea and will look at a place for storage for both on the drivers side. Hope to see everyone in Perry at the "Perry Forum Get Together". Thursday March 17th 5:00 PM. Herman
  22. Jeff, Since the Rally begins on Thursday the 17th, parking should be over. If not Steve will let you off early to come. My wife and I are the Water Dawgs. See you in GA! Herman
  23. Harold, Thanks for the up date. And please pass your praises on to Cummins Coach Care in Coburg. Most of the times they see and hear the complaints but seldom the praises. Herman
  24. Peter, Don't forget to have your unit serviced each year and exercise it at least once a month. Herman
