  1. Marty, with a continuity tester check each white wire to ground. If the two white wires in one bundle both show continuity to ground then it won't matter which white wire on one side is connected to which wire on the other side because they are both grounds. Am I making sense to you? Herman
  2. David, Congratulations and Welcome to the Forum. Have you joined FMCA? If yes how about a Chapter. Our Chapter, Lone Star, is having a Rally at the North Houston/Lake Conroe KOA December 2-3-4, 2015 and would like to invite you and your to join us. If you would like more information just click on my picture and send me a personal message. Again Welcome. Herman
  3. Are the wires not color coded? Check each white for ground. If all are grounded then it is just white to white. The remainder should be color coded by color, stripes and size. Herman
  4. ninadan, Welcome to the Forum. I am going to ask a dumb question. Auto Park light? Do you mean the day light running lights that are come on when you put the vehicle in drive? Or do you mean the automatic head lights that come on when darkness comes? Herman
  5. As Puff said, a WalMart with an RV Park close by and not allowing overnight parking is just being a good neighbor. Another reason some do not allow over night parking is not the stores decision but the local government. Some cities or townships do not allow overnight parking on any public parking areas. Again the city or township may just, again, be respecting their local RV Parks that are also revenue for the city through taxes. So lets all be respectable RVers and respect WalMart by asking each time and respecting the local governments by either going to one of their RV parks or by moving on to the next area. Herman
  6. RL, If you have seal beams it may be a simple as bad connections. Pull the plugs on the back of the bulbs and check for corrosion. It might also be adjustment of the head lights themselves. However if you have complete units with plastic head light covers they may need to be polished. 3M make an very good Head Light Restoration kit. The head lights on my coach were very bad and I used the kit to restore their luster. "I can now see the Light." well at least I can see the road better now. Herman
  7. On our 2002 Dynasty the slides have a strip of slightly rough tape on the slide. when the slide goes out the seal will flip out and when the slide goes in the seal will flip as it passes the strip. Works for us. Herman
  8. Shawn, On many coaches, they will locate the inverter on the overhead in one of the compartments(bays). In most cases it is located on the drivers side close to the shore power receptacle or cable reel. I believe that Motor Home manufactures have a meeting during the design phase, covering component location. They must have a pool set up for who can locate a vital component in the worst location. To date, the winner in my book was on the 1999 Beaver Patriot Thunder. A brilliant engineer put an inline fuse in taped up in a wiring harness under the dash. Can we get a standing ovation here? Herman
  9. Hawk, you may have an element that is shorted. If so, they aren't hard to change. Herman
  10. In the Dallas Fort Worth area, we have Toll Tags issued by NTTA. I have three tags. One on the car, one on the truck and the third on the motor home. Rather then set the coaches tag for 5 as axles I have it set for three. This way if I am not towing I only get charged for three. When towing it reads both tags and I am charged for five. NTTA set up an account for you on your credit card for $80.00. I'm not sure at what balance they recharge but you will see it on your statement. Herman
  11. 57, Welcome to the Forum. Are your other zones working? With your front zone on are you just getting cold air coming from the vents? Have you had your unit serviced this year? Do you run the Aqua Hot at least once a month? These units have to be run at least every 30 days. If not they will clog up and have to be serviced. If your unit is working in all of your other zones and water heater here is where you may have a problem, a solenoid valve. Each zone has a solenoid valve that opens and closes when heat is required in each zone. This may sound strange, but if you can access those valves you can very :gently tap" each valve with a small hammer. These valves sometimes become stuck and need a little encouragement to open. If all else fails check for the next Area or National Rally for the Aqua Hot rep and have them look at your unit. Lloyd DeGerald got mine fixed in Madison after close to $2700.00 spent with a service shop (Aqua Hot Certified) and they only got the electric to work but not the burner. Lloyd found the problem and the unit has worked flawlessly ever since. Hope this helps, Herman
  12. Lenp, Do you have a shut off under the sink? If so the rubber seal may have broken and is stopping up the hot water line. Maybe I should ask, do you have water pressure with only the hot on and the cold off? If no pressure then my answer stands. Good luck, dishes washed in cold water just don't come out clean. Herman
  13. grayhound, Go to most any RV shop. You will find one that will help unroll you awning. They may smile a bit but most likely not charge you. Good luck, I am smiling just thinking of how many time this has happened to me. Herman
  14. DK, It seems that you have been down this road before. We all have our favorite make of coach. And which one is best for you has to be up to you. As you are aware of, you can spend half a million dollars on a coach and end up with a lemon or spend $100,000.00 and get one of the best coaches on the road. So my advise is to look, look and then look some more. Then one day you will walk up to a coach and Bam, it will hit you, "This is the one". Good luck and we all hope you find the one that suits you best. Herman
  15. dmkroona, Welcome to the Forum. Do you currently have or have ever had a Motor Home? How do you envision using the coach? If you have never owned a motor home before let me suggest that you rent one. If you enjoy the outing then you will have an idea of what you would like in your own coach. However if you find that you did not like the outing then you are only out the cost of the rental and not tied up with an very large expense. Both the Manufacturers you mentioned make fine coaches. Being said there are many more fine coaches being made today. Some will have the floor plan that is right for you. Hope you find what fits your needs and can go and enjoy. Herman
  16. bgusty, If you have the ability to do it you can buy new rotors and pads, pack and/or replace the bearings for a lot less then a shop would charge you. I love doing as much coach work as I am able to doing. Getting a bit long in the tooth but what the heck, I just pull them out, put them in a bowl and dive in. (Then I take several Aleves and rest till the next repair comes along) Herman
  17. Haeffle, Where did you purchase the mattress? If you are in California, I'm sure you didn't go to North Carolina to get it. Why didn't you go back to where you got it? They are the ones you should be dealing with and not calling the manufacturer crooks when they are doing what every company would do. "Did it fail because of defects or was it damaged due to miss use." That is what any company will want to know. Herman
  18. Ben, You may find a number of good preowned tow bars on eBay. When you find a good one then go and purchase a New set of base plate for that make of tow bar. The new plates will be fresh and never stressed. I'm not saying that there are not some good used plates out there but you can have a tow bar reworked at any national rally. Good luck and Happy Towing. Herman
  19. Allen, What concerns me is if your unit fit within your GCWR and you have corrected the capacity with a better hitch, is the tongue weight. 800 lbs. is quite a lot. Is there a way to distribute the weight better on the trailer? I would be worrying about how the trailer would sway at the slightest change of the wind, road and movement. Herman
  20. Oynex, When checking the front end check the mounting bolts on both upper and lower shafts. Loose upper bolts will cause loss of alignment shims and allow shafts to shift and bang when bounced. Herman
  21. Oynex, Welcome to the Forum. Independent front suspension or solid axle. If independent check ball joints and upper & lower bushings. Solid axle check for loose king pins. Also check for loose drag link, tie rod and every other part of the steering linkage. ?missing any golf clubs?:-) Herman
  22. David, Sorry for your problems. If i t were my coach I would go get my coach and take it to where you can get it fixed. No amount of insurance is worth the hassle you are going through. Pick up your coach, pay what ever they say you own on a credit card and put the charge under dispute. Get your coach back have it fixed and get back to doing what you bought the unit for. Herman
  23. If the gang plug is disconnected and the short is up stream or down stream the dead short can be located with a continuity test light. Find a good ground and test each pin. When the light comes on that will be the wire that is shorted out. A simple test from my simple mind. Herman
  24. Mike, Contact Either or both Blue OX and RoadMaster and see if they make base plates for the Miata. If they do then Contact David at Drive Shaft King in Dallas. David will know if a disconnect will work on the Miata. I will look up David's number and PM you. Herman
  25. csims2, If you were down this way I would suggest taking your coach into Motor Homes of Texas in Nacogdoches, Texas and have it detailed inside and out. They can make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Herman
