  1. Gmac, Just wondering, who told you that on your Cmax you cannot adjust the caster? I have never heard of the caster, camber and toe in on any vehicle not being adjustable. Herman
  2. On every 4 way plug there is a white wire. It is the ground and for some reason it is always very short. However it is a very important wire. Too many folks just leave it disconnected, saying , no problem it will get its ground through the hitch. (as well it can). Then they go and cover the ball in grease, kill the connection and wonder why their lights are dim or don't work . Always connect the GROUND wire. A loose or bad ground has caused more problems in homes, cars, boat trailers and RVs, then any one can imagine. Herman
  3. Tommy, I stand and salute you. Please keep us informed on "LZ". Thank you for your Service! Herman
  4. Calamity, Welcome to the Forum. Did you say you pull a 50 ft. Trailer??? Herman
  5. dc27526, Just a suggestion. Until you can find a solution you could connect your discharge hose straight out, drain your tanks then remove the hose. Then I would contact Newmar and see if they have a solution. Herman
  6. Gmac, I haven't noticed here as to whether you have had the Alignment checked after having the tow bar brought to close to level. Being that far out it may have changed the alignment specs. How does the vehicle drive under normal circumstances? Ok? (when not being towed). This may also be a bit far out but how are your tires? Belts can become loose, rims can be bent, you might try rotating the front tires with the rear tires. I am sure you have tried so many things and I hope you find the problem soon. Herman
  7. Carl, one thing I can assure you is that it won't be in 50s when you wake up tomorrow. Be safe. Herman
  8. Chris, one problem with park website pictures are how old are they. We have seen places that had beautiful pictures and when we arrived the place was the pits. I like to use http://www.rvparkreviews.com/ . But again how current are the reviews. A friend made reservations at a park based on trailer life book. Shrimp fry every Friday in the restaurant, when they arrived they found that the restaurant hadn't been opened in 3 years. I myself like to see a place before I put out my money. Herman
  9. Puff, Yours is a prime example why you need to always fill up when returning to home base. Happy sawing. Herman
  10. DO NOT CUT THE FRAME. Call Blue Ox. Sometimes you have an existing hole that must be drilled through the opposite side. This is done with the base plate in place to use as a guide. But please do not cut your frame. Herman
  11. Gp, Welcome to the Forum. Have you joined FMCA and if so have you joined a chapter? To check your batteries, be sure they are charged fully and pull a load test on them. This a good way to check their condition. My batteries have gone down several times due to inadvertently leaving the radio. It gets bumped on when you lest expect. Herman
  12. adrainey, As Carl said after the cap is turned part way it must be pushed down and turned. The cap should have the model number and pressure marked on the cap. If you still have difficulty getting the cap off, see if Carl's friend can com over and remove it for you. Herman
  13. mrblfx, Welcome to the Forum. I have had several Blue Ox units on several vehicles. On my last install, (2008 Chevrolet) I had to drill a hole for each base plate. It was spelled out in the instructions. If your instructions don't call for drilling give the tech dept a call. They can be very helpful. Herman
  14. Congratulations, beautiful coach. Herman
  15. Mark, does yours door have hinged arm at the top, that prevents the door from opening too far? If so one piece will have a raised dimple while the other will have a recess for the dimple to pop into to hold the door open. You can bend ever so slightly to make the door hold open.:-). Give this a try. Herman

    Shimmy/Vibration

When I went to Bear Alignment school many, many years ago one thing really stuck in my mind. If you have a shimmy in your vehicle where do you feel it? If you feel it in the Steering Wheel it is coming from the front tires. If you feel it in your Seat it is coming from the rear tires. Also any time a shimmy suddenly starts, check your tires for a bulge on the side wall. If you find a bulge replace the tire imminently. 40X glad you found and cured your problem. Good luck, Herman
  17. bbevers, Welcome to the Forum. You are correct, there was a recall on the trailing arms. However after Monaco's bankruptcy and. Uh out, that went away. Sorry. If you go back in this posting you will find a company that makes a replacement trailing arm that is much, much better then the original which was used in the recall. Wolfe 10 has the name. You can personal message him. Herman
  18. Ditto Carl, I have three Toll Tags, Car, Truck and MH. When we use a Toll Road it read the vehicle. When we are towing the truck with the MH it reads the MH and the truck. This works on all Toll Roads in both Texas and Oklahoma. That is nice. Kansas has the same agreement with Oklahoma but not Texas yet. They hope to have it in place soon. I sure wish there was a National Toll Tag. Herman

    Shimmy/Vibration

When you replace your tires most dealers don't have the capability of balancing the tires on the vehicle. They will put the tire on the balancing machine. That is a good time to check the run out. Then it there is a problem the tire may be rotated on the rim. And if that doesn't correct the problem then you can ask for a different tire be mounted. I take a different approach to balancing, I have all 8 of my tires balance and watch as it is done. What may be close enough for the tech may not be for me. A past experience for me. I needed tires on my vehicle I used to travel for work. 4 GoodYear Eagles. They were always considered the best in the past. Drove 450 miles had them rebalanced drove back and went back to have them re-rebalanced. The manager of Discount Tire had one of his tire gurus look at them, after he inspected them his exact quote was "I wouldn't put this set on a trailer". He had 4 or 5 defects marked on each one. My point is that no matter who is the manufacturer is there can always be a bad run or batch. Herman
  20. Thanks, Carl did you get this? Herman
  21. Stoloffs, Since you have problems with it on the windshield wouldn't it have better to mount it to the front of camper above the windshield rather then down on the bumper where it could be stolen? Herman
  22. W, I'm sure what you have is Rack and Pinion steering and without the steering wheel lock you should be good to go after you place the transfer case in neutral. However as I said before, with a Buddy Brake you may want a charging line when towing to keep the battery charged. Herman
  23. Wayne, Things to try. Small punch that will fit inisde the set screw. Strike with a hammer several times. This will shock the threads and loosen them. Heat like Rich said, but put the correct size hex key into the set screw. Hold the key with pliers and apply heat to the key. This will transmit the heat to the screw, loosen the screw without damaging the Chrome. A impact tool. It will take a socket with the correct key size. When inserted into the screw, twisted and struck with a hammer it will shock the threads and loosen the set screw. Hope one of these works for you. Herman
  24. Wayne, Several things you may try. First try taking a small punch, one that will go into the hex set screw without bing forced. Take a hammer and strike the punch several times. This can shock the threads from either rust or thread lock. Another is to use heat as Rich suggested. Take a hex key (Allen Wrench) that fits the set screw. Insert the hex key and holding the key with pliers and apply the heat allowing the heat to be transmitted to the set screw. The heat will expand the set screw and as it cools it will retract loosening the set screw. Also there is impact tool that will take a socket with the correct key. Tool is twisted and struck with a hammer. The twist and impact should loosen the set screw. Sorry to be so long. Herman
