  1. Captain, check out PPL Rv in Houston, TEXAS. Their motor gear housing and controller cost me $232 shipping included. Give them a shout. They may have the motor you need. Herman
  2. And Bill knows Pies. (Ice Cream too) Herman
  3. fabosworth, if you are messing around with any of your air lines be sure to have your wheels chocked. The more the better. And have heavy duty Jack Stands under the frame if you plan on getting under your coach. It's hard to dial 911 with your coach on your chest. BE SAFE. Herman
  4. Bragg, Welcome to the Forum. You can click on ybrim's name and send him a personal message. It will show up on his email that he has a message and be able to read it there. Let him know what you want to know and maybe he might answer you. Good luck. Herman
  5. Blake, Welcome to the Forum and welcome back to active FMCA. In your area there are several chapter your area you may like to visit. Our chapter, Lone Star is having a rally just this week in Kerrville at the Guadalupe RV Resort. We are also having a rally in December at Rayfords Crossing RV park. If these might peak your interest send me PM (personal message). I can send you the information. Herman Mullins South Central Area, Southern Region VP
  6. I made my own circuit tester. I use it every time I am ready to connect to shore power. It is a simple volt meter receptacle tester. The one in the picture is for 30 amp. I also have one for 50 amp. I may have 20 bucks in both. (I had most of the parts in my junk drawer). I have used them many times at Six-State. My coach has a built-in surge guard. It protect from things such as lightning and such.
  7. That is a question above my pay grade.:-) You might contact the manufacturer of your RV antifreeze. Keep cool, I mean warm. Herman
  8. Ralph, I am sorry but the time are a changing. I still have the last magazine with the listing of members by last name and by "F" numbers. When we would be on the road the wife would see a goose egg and look up their name in th magazine. Several years back when FMCA was not doing so well money wise, they had to make some cut backs and the big issue in January went away. You might also note the size of the magazine now compared to old. Again due to the economy more than one of the coach manufacturer are also gone. But lets look at the bright side, FMCA survived and is doing much better now. Membership is climbing and some things are returning, such as FMCAssist (you may remember it as Medex). It also was gone for awhile. One of our current National President's, Charlie Adcock, and National VP Jon Walker's, goals was to reinstate the program. They did so and it is doing well. So sorry again for not having the big list but hey, WELCOME BACK. Herman Mullins South Central Area Southern Region VP
  9. dba, Yes, I did solve my issue. I had a switch problem. Someone had worked on the switch and crossed 2 wires.(sic me) This all started with a lock out switch in the bay doors under the slides. If the bay door is opened it locks the slide from operating. It could also be the switch. Hope this helps. Herman
  10. Hello Ralph Baker, Welcome back. You can access the directory from the home page. Click on the membership icon. From there you may access the directory there. There you may also look up a member by name. If you find a person you can contact the FMCA membership person. That person will email the person your information so they can contact you if they wish to. Herman
  11. db, by some chance do you have any bay doors open? My 02 Dynasty's slides will not operate if a compartment door under the slide is open. If you have opened a compartment go and reclose it, in fact open and close them all. Hope this might work. Herman
  12. Albert, Welcome to the Forum. In cold weather I will make sure my fresh water tank is full. Then discount the hose and stow it. Since you have an Aqua Hot system your tank bays are protected. Be sure your system is working and your fuel tank is full. Just a side note, be sure and operate your Aqua Hot at least once a month and have it serviced once a year. Herman
  13. Marvin, Welcome to the Forum. You might try checking with rv salvage yards. Colaws in Carthage, MO.They have lots rv part. I'm sure they will be able to help. Herman
  14. Slowe, Steering wheel locks have been an on and off situation for auto makers. Some had locks then removed them then put them back in. You never know from one year to the next whether they have or don't have a lock. Herman
  15. cmbar, Welcome the Forum. There are a number of lots in the FMCA magazine. You may find one there. Herman
  16. Charlie, Welcome to FMCA and the Forum. If you can see the problem roller check to see if something may have become lodged under the roller. If you do find something don't remove it but take it back to the shop. If you find nothing then check to see if the roller rolls freely. It could be a stuck roller can cause problems. Herman
  17. Roy, with a Remco drive shaft disconnect you will not need a pump. If you are in North Texas, Dallas, look up Drive Shaft King David will fix you up. Herman
  18. Ted, As Bill said, Welcome to the Forum. There is a unit for swimming pools called a "Freeze Guard". It can be found at places such as Leslie's Pool Supply. Although it is a 220 unit it may be used for 110 Volts by dropping a leg. It is designed to turn on the pump in case the temp. drops below a set temp. Most folk have it set for 34 degrees F. I used one for over 20 years and never had a problem with the water freezing. It can be wired to turn on a heater as Bill suggested of even a 100 watt bulb places in the compartments you wish to keep warm [be sure the bulb doesn't come in contact any surface]. Herman
  19. Ok Brett, Opps on you, Anti-Freeze doesn't freeze . As you stated there has to be a shut off for the water supply to the Ice Maker. My suggestion is almost the same as I stated earlier. Turn off the water, Disconnect the line and allow it to drain into a pan. then allow the Ice Maker to cycle the cubes out of the maker and it will not refill since the water is turned off. But another thought. If the unit was installed by the Manufacturer then the back of the unit will be insulated. If it is a replacement of a RV unit then there should be access to the Rear of the fridge and a shut off, if not then one should be installed. Again shut off the water cycle the ice out of the maker. On a replacement unit I would place an pad of insulation to the opening and close the hatch. Herman
  20. Yes, with a drive shaft disconnect. Remco make one for the Colorado. Herman
  21. jleamont, Aqua Hot units have a thermostat in the bay set to come on with the temp drops. Several things you can do is make sure you have a full fuel tank if you plan on running it on diesel. You will need to have the unit plugged in to shore power to insure fully charged batteries. You might check with Aqua Hot and ask if you have it plugged in, will the unit come on with the electric side in case of low temps. I believe it will. Herman
  22. F452573 Welcome to the forum. First I would open the outside compartment door for the refrigerator and unplug one side of the Ice maker solenoid. Then allow the ice maker to clear the ice in the tray. This will insure that when you turn off the unit there wont be any Ice in the tray to melt and leave water in the unit all winter. The water line to the should be insulated. I would place a piece of insulation inside the compartment and close the compartment door. Now caution: Be sure the refrigerator is turned off and and the gas valve is turned off to the refridgerator (also in the same compartment). When you are ready to de-winterize the fridge, Remove the insulation turn the gas back on (light the pilot light if you have one), replug the ice maker and turn the fridge back on. Be sure to clean the compartment and inspect for critters and dirt dobber nest. Good luck and again welcome to the Forum. Herman
  23. I can't remember if a '98' 454 has a module in the dist. If so you can drive for some time and when you kill the engine it will not start again until the module is replaced. Engine will turn over but no fire. Herman
  24. I had a leak and thought I would never find it. A tech was doing some work in my pump bay. When I picked up my unit he said, "Oh by the way I found that your water pump fitting was a bit loose so I tightened it, your good to go". Herman
