  1. Do I understand that if you have a dummy key you may put the vehicle in neutral but not start it? Herman
  2. On our 98 Windsor we had an air chuck in the front by the Gen Set. I checked it once and found no pressure. I was told that it was a connection for when you have to have the coach towed and the wrecker can connect the coach to the wrecker the same as we do our Toad. Any thoughts out there, true/false? Herman
  3. Welcome to the Forum. Some folks do name their coaches, while others put names of the Branch of Service they may have been in, their favorite sports team and so forth. Example: My Grandchildren call me Grumpy. On our first coach I had a spare tire and had the cover Airbrushed with the Disney Character "GRUMPY." I did the Same on our Jeep. On the back of our current coach, I have a Navy Expression: "Fair Winds and Following Seas." So you can name, brand or leave it alone. When in the middle of a cold winter storm or when you are making the payment, you may refer to it as that D@#$% Coach. But come spring you may call it Happy Trails. Go for it, use your imagination. Herman
  4. J, just be careful with the pressure washer on any Decals. They will come off faster then the green mold. Herman
  5. Wayne, Welcome, I had a Remco Drive Shaft Disconnect installed in my 2008 Silverado by Drive Shaft King in Dallas, Texas. It works very well. One nice thing with my truck is that there is no steering wheel lock, so here is what I do. Set the Parking Brake, start the engine, shift the transmission into Neutral, pull the disconnect to disengage the drive shaft. I kill the engine and when I am sure the trans mission has stopped turning I move the selecter to Park, remove the key, release the Park Brake and lock the door. One thing that David does is install a different Cable to the disconnect that Remco supplies. He uses a heavier PTO cable. Herman
  6. One thing you might consider is to take you unit to a boat dealer that has a good make ready shop. They will have a tech that came bring out a good finish to your unit. They have the experience to bring out the shine on dull boats and your coaches front cap is made the same way as a fiberglass boat. Herman
  7. I too would like to know where the water came from. Was it found when they were replacing the engine? There is a great suction on the air intake and it could have picked up moisture but it would turn into steam the moment it got to the turbo if I understand a turbo. Brett, does the term "Dusting" mean the same as glazing of the cylinder walls? I have heard of very small leaks after the filter causing the glazing in dusty conditions. Herman
  8. Rien & Yolanda, Again Welcome. One of the thing I would like to hear is how the previous owner handled the electrical set up in the coach. Every thing in an US built coach is 110/120 Volts including the A/C and refrigerator and if I understand it, Europe is 220 Volts. Herman
  9. Ray, I have several of the FMCA Atlases. They are good for major roads and Hi ways. But I have several older ones that have much more details. Herman
  10. aztec. I wonder how you only have 3 each 6 volt batteries. Isn't you coaches system 12 volt? Mrs Press taught me that 3 X 6 = 18. Herman
  11. Roberta, If not said before, Welcome to the Forum. We had a 98 Windsor and had the same problem. I bought both solenoid valves and when I started to replace them I found that the exhaust ports were stopped up by dirt dobbers. I cleaned them both and the air dumped just fine. I returned the valves for full credit and got some ceramic filters for the valves and never had the problem again. Hope this helps, Herman
  12. gs, Do you every use the microwave or coffee pot when staying in a WalMart parking lot? If so you are using the inverter. I for one would like to have a 6 battery bank, that is until I would need to replace them. Herman
  13. Changed ours last year. Took about one hour (learning). I think I could do the next one on half that time. Turn off water. Remove two screws. Slide unit out and down Unplug connection. Slide new unit into fridge. Replug connection position and replace two screws. It is almost that simple but still very easy. Good Luck Herman
  14. Tim,, If your buyer owns his home free and clear, have him look into a Home Equity Loan. Banks will give a a loan for up to 50% of the homes value. You do not need to take all of the money at once. You may draw it as needed. We took out one so we could buy our cars. This way we could pay cash for the cars and the HOE loans interest is tax deductible. but not on a auto loan. Also the interest is much lower. Hope this helps, Herman
  15. Gary as Rod said, thank you for the offer. When you get to the Rally look me up. I will be the one in the Orange Hat. Herman
  16. Garyntut, Let me introduce myself, my name is Herman Mullins. I am Parking Captain for the Six-State Rally Association, aka SRA. If you registered for 30 or 50 amp service you will have Electric, Water and Sewer. All of the hook up will be in the rear of your coach. There is one sewer dump for each site (4 electric with one water hook up and one sewer dump. Sharing the water hook up is handled by someone having a splitter. To dump each coach will need to have their hose out and share the dump. Thelma was speaking on the side of caution about the full tank. You are correct it is a lot of weight to carry if not needed. If you have any futher concerns when you arrive in Sedalia, look me up and I will be glad to help. You can't miss me, I will be the one with the Orange Cowboy Hat. Look forward to meeting you. Herman Mullins SRA Parking Captain
  17. dazzreds, Both are good, that being said there is one problem with the 3 point system. When parking on gravel you must use boards or pads under the center jack. In most cases the outer ruts have been well packed where the center is soft. It is always a good idea to put pads under all jack pads when parking on gravel or asphalt. Herman
  18. trahanp, Welcome to the Forum. Take the racket by the handle and have a Tennis Rally. You can announce it here on the Forum. If you get enough response you could form a Tennis Chapter. You could have Rallies to play and to watch. Herman
  19. Just to add my two cents. Both Brett and Rich mentioned connections. When it can be done it is good to check all connections on both the receptacles and plugs on the gen. coach and cords. This can be done at the same time you are cleaning the post and terminals. Good luck and keep your cables cool. Herman
  20. Look me up when you arrive in Sedalia. I will be the one with the Orange Cowboy Hat. I am the Parking Captain. Herman
  21. Michael, Come to Durant for our Rally Sept. 19-20-21 and I will check out your step and loan you a step stool if we can't get it fixed. Herman
  22. modemem, When you get to the town you plan to stay for a period of time go to the Local Post Office and ask about General Delivery. That way they can be expecting your delivery. However if you will be staying in a CG, you can have them send it to the Park. Herman
  23. cmarq, While at Gillette I visited with one of the crews washing coaches. The fellow told me that the spray wax they use on the coach help shed the rain on domes and dishes. I am going to wax my dome and see if it helps. Of course here in Texas we don't have a big problem with signal loss due to rain. John, If Jill would perfer the dome to be the color of the coach you could paint just the sides with a cheap non metalic paint and leave the top white. What she can't see wont bother her. And John, after all these years you can call me Herman. Herman
  24. John, If it hasn't been said before, Welcome to the Forum. I am such a simple minded person. So let me put this where I can understand. New Dome in another color, $150..00 (aprox) plus shipping, Can of High priced spray paint $ 8.00 at H/D or Lowes, hum? Either way, when you get on your roof to change or paint, be careful. Herman
  25. Larry, getting the hat you asked about with the FMCA Logo might help.(ha ha) Herman
