  1. Ron, check out your Idler pulleys. Herman
  2. Thanks, Now I am not only getting old but so has my passport. I hope I am not replaced also. Herman
  3. FYI, it is called "GOLDEN AGE PASSPORT". Good Luck and enjoy the Rally. Herman
  4. If you are traveling during the summer months, then a nice stop is Canyon, TX to see the canyon and the play Texas in the open air theater. Also a must see is Cody, WY and the Bufalo Bill Museum. Cody to Yellowstone is a great road and wonderful sites. If I remember correctly there are some Dude Ranches along the way. Sorry that you only have 10 days, there is so much to see along the way from Red Stick in the Mud, LA to Yellowstone. Herman
  5. Question, do I remember that either Dish or Direct had a plan for RVers where they can receive either the East coast or West coast major new works any where you are? Herman
  6. Del, Welcome to the Forum. The first thing I would do would be to have all the tires inspected and balanced. It is one of the first things you can do to eliminate in your vibration. When you feel the vibrations is it in the steering wheel or do you feel it through the seat and floor? Steering wheel, front = front tires. In the seat and floor indicates rear tires. Also if you can take a look at the shocks and check for signs of leakage. Herman
  7. zse4dr5, Welcome to the forum. In the CDL books there is the exemption for Motor homes, farm tractor and so on. However if you look in your states operators manual it may tell you that you would require a A or B Operators License to drive a coach in excess of 26,000 lbs. as Wayne stated. So check out your Operators hand book. In Texas the difference between A & B is that A allows you to tow over 10.000 lbs. Good luck and again Welcome to the Forum and join a chapter if you haven't already done so! Herman
  8. QuiGonJohn, The check valve in your pump is very easy to change. At any time have you been hooked up to city water supply without your pressure regulator on your hose? If so there may have been enough pressure to damage your check valve. I had a pres./reg. that went bad for some reason and I had to replace it. Everyone loves the mysteries of the sounds coming from our MHs. Herman
  9. Less Ice Cream Socials will keep it that way. Happy New Year Bill. Herman
  10. Jackster, Welcome to the Forum. There is a Plastic wrench made for the filter. You may purchase them from your DYI stores. You may also use a strap wrench from your local Auto Parts stores. Good luck, Herman
  11. In the great State of Texas any thing being towed over 1200 lbs requires brakes. But I would check with your States requirements and also check with your insurance company to see what they require. If you are in a state that requires brakes and you do not have them on your tow and are involved in an accident, your fault or not you could be held responsible and your insurance may not pay off. Be safe and check. Happy New Year to all. Herman
  12. Yes Ticat some of us do need a smart phone. We only have our cell phones and no land line. Where we live there is only one phone company and the only thing we can get is dial up. We use our smart phone for the Wi-Fi Hot spot. We can use the hot spot any where. We can get a dish mounted for around $300.00 and then spend $50.00 per month for service where the data plan on our two phones is around $20.00 per month. So there are some people that are glad there are smart phones. So sit down, have a drink of your favorite beverage and relax. Have a Happy New Year. Your follow Rv'er, Herman
  13. ticat, Back in the sixties I did the adjustment with a machine for $1.50 the Inspection cost $2.00 if I remember correctly. I am going to print out your instruction and try it soon. One thing we all forget is the difference between our cars and the MH. Look how much higher we are to the road. Just the thoughts of an old man, almost as old as Rich. Merry Christmas to all. Herman
  14. Capt. Glad you got your unit working. Yes the solenoid valve get stuck quit often. However your unit needs to be serviced annually. But be sure you find a good tech. I had problems with mine but finally found a great tech, Blue Moon RV Service and Repair in Carrollton, TX. Mine works fine now. Herman
  15. AR, Congrats with the word from your Doctor. Try watching the magazine for all of the area Rallies. Check to see if one of them is having the driving school at their Rally. Just after the Six-State Rally in Sedalia there was the SMART Rally. They had a Driving Instructor that gave a private session to one of our friends. Give me a Personal Message and I will give you their name and you can call then and get the name of the Instructor. Herman
  16. While everyone is giving their suggestions on the way they dump here is ours. When we leave for home I disconnect the water solenoid from the ice maker, ( the power wire). This way the ice tray will dump and no water will inter the maker. When we are several miles from home, the DW will dump all the ice down the toilet. The ice will slosh around and loosen stuff. We then dump when we get home and then put the coach in Barn. Herman on the dump.
  17. You never get too old to learn. After having my coach serviced the shop owner told me that my coach batteries were down. He said that he used the boost and it started. I told him I didn't think is was worked. That was when I learned that you need to hold the boost in for 10 to 15 seconds before trying to start. Guess what, when I held down the switch as he had directed the engine started. DUH, old man. Herman
  18. One of the things that is hard to find any more in shops are head light machines. That was one of the main things for inspections in the past. Some where I have seen an article on adjustments where you can do it on your garage door and with measuring tapes. Anyone out there remembers it? Herman
  19. Thanks Rich and the same to you and Lois. See you in Perry. Herman
  20. tagcat, Welcome to the Forum. Since you have never had a motor home my advise to you is to rent one. If you like it then you can know what you would like in your own. However if life in a motor home does not suit you then all you are out is the rental. Good luck, Herman
  21. Jim, I agree with you. However I do use chemicals in my holding tank when I store it for a period of time. I do use a lot of water. Since we store the coach in a building and there is no air flow over the vents, I use the chemical just to keep down any odors. Even our body needs lots of water. Herman
  22. Rob, I have had this same issue several times. Check your solenoids. You have a 12 volt constant duty solenoid that pass power when the ignition is turned on. You can check it with a test light. Turn on your key, ground the test light and check both large lugs on the solenoid. If you have power to both they are good. If not they are faulty. They can, if going bad, work intermittently. If they are good then see if you can remove the solenoid from the starter. The contacts may be burnt. If so they can be cleaned and returned to service. Herman
  23. Harvey, I am assuming your are speaking of the AC cable. If so here are my thoughts. The cable is attached to the frame and into the Gen Set. Therefore to lengthen the cable you might need to put a water proof box in the location where the cable is attached. Put a 90 degree water proof connector on the gen set and add enough new water tight conduit to give you the correct length as to be able to move the gen without putting it in a bind. You will also need a longer cable (12-2/ground or matching what is there now) from the gen to the box. When you put it in a loop be sure that it doesn't rub or snag on something else. I hope this helps. I can see it in my mind and hope I have presented it properly. Herman
