  1. randy, One more thing. It is not a bad idea to carry a spare solenoid with you. Solenoids are just a magnatic unit, so while there is power to it it is active. Over a period of time they just give out, as you found out. A spare will almost surely guarentee that the solenoid in your coach will last for ever since you have a backup. Good luck and happy you got your problem solved. Herman
  2. Leonard and Sondra, Welcome to FMCA and the Forum. We are so happy that you chose Sedalia to begin your adventure. One of the Volunteer Chapters for Six-State this year are the Gateway Getaways. Their Chapter President is Keith Jerome, who is also the Northern Region Vice President of Six-State. They have a great chapter and Keith would be happy to visit with you and tell you all about everything. So when you are settled at your site look Keith up. If you need help I will be happy to assist you in any thing you need. Just look for the guy on the golf cart with the Orange Cowboy Hat, that would be me. Again welcome. 3. rim030150, Don't despair, all of us understand your dilemma. Your are very smart to document everything. In Texas we have the Lemon Law. I am not sure about other states. At present time with all of the turmoil with Mfgrs. even the factories have no clue what is going to happen with their company and/or job. This does not make for a good situation all around. We hope you get this resolved and can get back to what we all enjoy, Camping and working on our coaches. Good Luck and keep us informed on the outcome so we can all learn by your situation. Herman
  4. Medico, I said it once and I will say it again, "IT AIN'T GOING TO FIT". Nice Coach Herman
  5. Larry, Welcome to the Forum. There are all kinds of Rallies. Some go into the desert, park in a circle and build a camp fire in the middle. Then there are some that go to a high priced casino and park in style. Some go to different RV Parks and some go into pastures. For our chapter, Lone Star, we have 5 rallies each year and go to 5 different Parks. We charge a set fee that the Wagon Masters and their assistants will plan for 2 breakfast and 3 dinners. As for the South Central Rally each year, we go to locations where they can accommodate at least 600 coaches. Folks may register for 50 amp full hooks up, 30 amp full, Elec only, generator or dry camping. Like Bob, I would like to invite you to join Lone Star at one of our Rallies and South Central at our Rally in Sedalia MO. September 11-12-13-14, 2013. Go back and give the Midwest Rally another chance and then come further down to Sedalia and have fun with more great folks. 6. gmoreno, You can use your existing tail lights with no problem. You can go to Camping World or a store like CW and get a tail light wiring kit. The kit contains 4 diodes. Follow the directions and even if your battery is disconected you tail lights will still work. Herman
  7. Crazy, Since you paid for 50 amp service you may need an extension cable. A 50 amp extension. Sorry to say but they are not inexpensive. But on the bright side once you have bought one you will be set for a long time. Good luck and enjoy Gillette. Herman
  8. JustCruzzin, First Welcome to the Forum. Check with Wineguard. I looked up your unit and it said that it is compatiable with both Dish and Direct. There will be some dip switches that need to be set. Wineguard Tech can walk you throught the process. Good Luck, Herman
  9. Oscar, Go over to Port Aransas/Aransas Pass. You will need to take the Ferry but there are Parks there and a lot of beaches. Sorry about Rockport, lots of parks very little beach. Herman
  10. James, Contact American and they can give you the specs on your chassis and you can give them to Henderson. Good luck, Herman
  11. Check out Rockport, TX I know they have some that are across the street from the Gulf. Herman
  12. To help me drain my water tank when I clean the tank I use my pump. With a 95 gallon tank it was a waste of water to fill put in solution, drive, drain and flush took a lot of time and water. I put a tee in my line with a hose connection on it. When I fill, clean, drain, and flush, I just attach the hose to the valve and use the water for the wife's plants. Using the pump speeds up the process and I get points for being a nice husband and helping the wife. Herman
  13. sgumns, Welcome to the Forum. Is the tire touching the simulator? The simulator is just a fancy name for hub cap. It should not have any effect on the tire. Herman
  14. E, Welcome to the Forum. I towed a 03 Yukon for many miles. With your GM 4 X 4 all you have to do is put the transfer case in neutral and put the transmission in park. Check to see if you have a steering Wheel lock. If you don't turn the key off take it out and lock the car. If you do, I would go to a mechanic and have him remove the Steering Wheel locking pin. I can't remember if you have an electronic speedometer. if you do you will rack up miles with the key on. ( I am not sure about the acc. position.) You will need a braking system of some kind. You didn't say what your coach is. Is it large enough to tow a 5,200 lb vehicle? Good Luck and Happy towing. Herman
  15. Randy, My solenoid did the same thing. I would turn the key on and nothing, on the third or forth time it would work. Yes it can be intermittent. When yu purchase the solenoid make sure that t is a 12 volt continues. This solenoid stays on as long as the key is on. They can be purchased at any auto parts house. Good, Luck Herman
  16. Randy, Welcome to the Forum. If your engine will start and run but none of the gauges work you have a bad solenoid. Find you 12 volt fuse panel. There will be several solenoids. Use a continuity tester. Ground one end and check, with the key on, both large terminal on the solenoids. Looking at the solenoid the left post should be hot. If the solenoid is good the right post will also be hot. If not that is your bad solenoid. Herman.
  17. Check out the new 2013 Tiffin Phaeton in the FMCA magazine page 74. 36 foot, 380 Cummins, 3000 Allison Trans, 4 slides, Queen bed, booth plus sofa bed. This might fit your requirements. I don't know about the seat belt issue. Herman
  18. crewman011 Welcome to FMCA and the forum. Many RV parks have wifi connections. But you can have your smart phone be used as a Hot Spot. Just check with your carrier. Herman
  19. Roger, Welcome to the Forum. There are two Places where you may have a shut off valve. One under the Bathroom sink and another on a manifold. Either one may have rubber seats. The seat on one may have broken loose and is clogging the line. I have heard of this happening on older valves and it may have happened to yours. If you don't have a shut off under the sink I would take the line off the faucet and the maniflod and try to blow it out. Hope this helps Herman
  20. Planocat, Its about time. Now you can come to one of our Rallies. Herman
  21. cho007kd40, Sorry for your mishap. Is your wife OK? As dd69 said, caution is the key word in the wind. If you can hear the wind blowing be very careful opening the door. I will bet that your wife will have you open the door from now on. Herman
  22. fighterpilot, If no one has said it yet, Welcome to FMAC and The Forum. Sorry but you do have a strange request. Slides did not come out on most coaches until after 1996. Some were out before. What you asked for was a quality built coach, Monaco, Beaver, Holiday Rambler, American, Tiffin, Safari, Nemar and so on all make quality units. With 34 feet max and could sleep 6 to 8. One you would need a 4 slide unit with 2 sleeper couches. This would give you beds for 6 people. With small children that could sleep with their parents you could make it to 8. Then there is the safety factor. You would need seating for 6 people on couches with seat belts plus the pilot and co-pilot makes 8. Then there would be the towing factor. There are alot of folks out there towing all sorts of things. On any coache you look at you will need a 10,000 lb hitch. A auxilary brake would be a must. There is an old saying with Motor Home folks," I will show to 8, entertain 6, feed 4 and sleep 2." We all hope you find the unit you are looking for and when you do let us know what you found so other folks wanting the same may learn from you. Good Luck and Happy Travels. Herman Try this site just for kicks www.busforsale.com
  23. DD69, There is an adaptor for your drain that will allow you to connect a hose. With that attached you could run to hose, with a shut off if you want, to water several trees, plants and so on. (when hooked to the hose be sure which valve you open, enough said about that) Herman
  24. I just made a calculation on a $300,000.00 Coach. You would need $60,000.00 down plus TT&L just to cover the minimal deprecation. And at least $3,000.00 per month and I am not sure that would be too good for either party. And how about mileage? Also knowing the first year problems a lease would be in the shop for a good part of the first year. Herman
  25. Any time you have high amperage with D/C cables it is a good idea to go up in size. If you have a #2 cable getting warm then going to a #1 cable or even a #1/0. Herman
