See if you can find a RV key # 751. That key fits quite a few storage compartments. You should be able to find one at an RV dealer or Camping World. In fact one of your friends might have one. Herman

Internet Access On The Road
hermanmullins replied to missbrandie's topic in RV Internet to Go/Staying in Touch
Kegger, I have Dish Network and carry one of their receivers in our coach. I looked into their internet connection and found that it required a seperate satelitte dish and you are correct it isn't inexpensive. Maybe one of these days they will add another LNB to their dish for internet. I just made some changes to our AT&T cell service. I now get unlimited voice (no minutes to worry about), unlimited tecting (again no maximum number) and 3 GB data plan, now my phone is a wifi hot spot. It covers both my phone and the wifes. All for $115.00 per month +taxe. it came oout to less then we were paying and a lot more service. Herman -
Trying To Find A Dinghy For 4 Wheels Down Towing
hermanmullins replied to Adonh's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Towed a Jeep Wrangler 4 down for many miles, no problem. Towed a GMC Yukon XL 4 X 4, 4 down many miles, no problem. Now tow a Chevy Silverado 2 WD 4 down with a drive shaft disconnect many miles, and again no problems, (except from friends that wish I had the Yukon back because it would carry 8 when we would go out to eat.) Loves them all, Herman -

GB101, Sound to me like your coach is well broken in now. Should be smooth sailing from now on. Maybe. Herman -

Tire Question: Replace Michelin's with Bridgestones?
hermanmullins replied to dhgraves's topic in Tires
dhgraves, Going to a larger tire will throw off your speedometer. On most 22.5 tires you will have a small amount of road noise when they are first installed, but that will diminish fairly quickly. Some times a 7 to 10 year old tire may look great but take a close look in between the treads. It my frighten you to see the amount of cracking. Brett made a statement in another post, Are your tires where you want to go with the lowest bidder? I just paraphrased his comment? Herman -
A40X, Have to agree that if your coach has AquaHot you have a good system. I premise that with if the system is properly maintained. When working they are great. When not they are a pain in the rear end. Spent a lot of time on my unit, pressure tested the unit found no leaks, drained the unit ( tested the coolant and found it needed to be changed). Refilled the system (16 Gallons of 50/50 coolant). When I pressure tested the system I also checked the Cap. It would not hold pressure and when the unit got hot it would blow out enough coolant to trip the low coolant switch and unit would not run. New Cap and the uint works great. Got an extra cap in the coach now. Herman

Renting a Class A Motorhome
hermanmullins replied to swaghorn@bigpond.net.au's topic in Type A motorhomes
DD69, Really? What I would like to see is a report of where they got their rental and how was their trip. Herman -
As Brett said, do your measurements with the coach loaded as it would be normally. Then measure from the center of the receiver to the ground. Then measure from the center of your base plate to the ground. Subtract the base plate measurement from the receiver measurement. That will give you the size of drop you need for the hitch. Herman

Take your plaque to a company like Fast sign. Have them make you decals. They can make them to stick to both the inside of the windshield and ones that will adhere to the outside. Mine looks great. I even had a small one made to go on my tow vehicle. Herman

Replacement Window/ Repair Facility Palm Springs CA Area
hermanmullins replied to srfridley's topic in Type A motorhomes
SR, Check online for RV Salvage. You may be able to find a complete window, frame and all. As dd69 said check with Winnebago. I would think they might have one but I would wager that it would not be inexpenaive. However checking with them might give you a sence of cost. Now be careful leaving your storage unit, storage units can be sneaky and jump out when least expected. Good Luck, Herman -
Does your coach have a roof rack now? Are you towing a vehicle? If you are towing a vehicle a rack on it would be a better idea. Also it would be a lot easier to load and unload. Herman

I got a nice hint from James at Xtreme Graphics. When trying to remove Items from painted surfaces do not use a heat gun. The heat gun will continue to get hot and if held a fraction too long in one sport the surface is damaged. Use Steam. Steam will reach a maximum of 212 degrees and no more. It would be around 190 by the time it comes in contact with the surface. That is enough heat to loosen adheasives and still not damage the surface. Hope this helps. Herman

hermanmullins replied to DaveYeskey's topic in Outside the USA
Charles, no that should be OK. On your trip, when you get to Mt. Rushmore be sure to go at night if at all possiable. The sight is awsome. Then going to Yellowstone, don't miss Devils Tower and Cody. Plan to stay several day in Cody so you can do the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. I envey you on Glacier, we have never been, hope to soon. Have a wonderful time. Herman- 11 replies

Where To Spend Summer Months In Colorado
hermanmullins replied to Williamf43's question in Destinations/Attractions
Williamf43, Welcome to the Forum. Where is not a good place to spend the summer in Colorado? We love Estes Park, Durango, Pagosa Springs, Creed, South Fork and on and on. The wife and I love Colorado. So any place you end up in would be great. Go, enjoy and have fun. Herman -
FYI, my dealer charges $25.00 for new stems, mounting and balancing 295/80R/22.5 tires. Just evey now and then thing are better in Texas. Herman

Sat boy, Check to make sure that all of the compartment doors are closed completly. Some slides will not close if the doors are not closed. Try opening and slamming the doors shut then try the slide again. Hope this helps. Herman

Driving between Livingston and Coeur D'Alene on I-90
hermanmullins replied to DaveYeskey's topic in Outside the USA
cpenn, It sound like you are going to make a great trip. My question is about your departure time and how much time you plan to travel. If you are planning on leaving in September which is the beginning of very cold weather in North Dekota and Montana. Three months will take you into November which can be really cold and snowing. Just my thoughts. Herman- 11 replies

Larry, Welcome to the Forum. First check for blockage and or restrictions on the passengers side of the heat vents. One of the thing the wife and I do is put up our curtain. We have a curtain that goes across the coach behind the driver and passenger. This helps to keep both the cool air and the heat from the dash unit stay up front and not trying to cool or heat the entire coach. In the summer heat we will turn on the gen set and the ACs shortly before we arrive at our destination for the night to start the cool down. Herman

Motorhome With Rear Axle vs Rear Axle With Tag Axle?
hermanmullins replied to Fliphoppers's topic in Type A motorhomes
DR, You make some valid points. One thing about coaches with Tag axles is that the majority of the coaches have air bags. With most they also can lift the tag axle to allow for tighter turn radiues. My coach with its tag axle handles so much better then our other 2 coaches. And as you said when every thing is said an done if you are happy with your coach that is all that matters. (now if someone wants to make the payments I will drive what they provide. Ha ha.)
