I would like to see Newfoundland again. I was station there in 1957-58-59. I remember that the Roads around Argencia, Newfoundland were the pits. I couldn't imagine taking a motorhome or for that matter any kind of RV. Argencia was the only area I was ever in. I never got to St. Johns or Gander. I bet a lot has changed in 60 years. Herman

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk
hermanmullins replied to hermanmullins's topic in General Discussion
Jim, I had mine removed for a total fo $500.00. That was the deductible on my insurance to fix one of my blunders. The shop convinced the adjuster that they could not match to paint till they had the whole front end cleaned off. Don't recommend having a collision but it worked out for us. The paint under the crazed 3M/Diamond shield was perfect. Herman -
Dee, Welcome to the Forum. Some good points made. It's not often I hear " I believe hermanmullins is spot-on" . Wow, thank you. Herman

Damon, That is good news about the width. However if you have a Tag then you have two tire where the treads will be closer together and there may be an issue. Tag = Possible Problem No Tag = No Problem. Good luck, Herman

Windshield replacement, insurance has 1000.00 deductible
hermanmullins replied to waynemcisaac's topic in Type A motorhomes
Wayne, sorry that you may not be covered. I did have $1,000.00 Collision and $500.00 Comprehensive deductible and dropped to to $500/$250 for an increase of only $25.00 a year. Well worth it to me. Herman -
Andy, thanks for your your report. Sorry for your issues. I have 6 G670s on the rear of my coach and plan on replacing them with Toyos the first of next year. I replaced the Steer tires to Toyos after an experience with GY. Herman

Hearthside is considered to be the best RV Resort in Michigan if not the country. I have never been there but I understand you can purchase one of the sites and they will rent it out for you when you are not using it. Take a look at their website, hearthsidegrove.com Herman

Eric, Welcome to the Forum. What you speak of on your main control panel is sometimes referred to as the "Salesman Switch". Somewhere in or near your battery compartment you will find a fairly large "off/on" switch. that may be what you are looking for. Herman

"D", Best for Chiggers is to use Sulfur Powder. I put it in an old sock with a knot tied at the top and use it to dust my ankles and bottom of my pants. The other name for locus is "Acadia". They do come out at different times each year. Around these parts we don't see a lot of them. What we do see at time are the shell or skin when they shed. But they are the same bug as in the Bible and the "Plague of Locus." Herman -
Hi Mike, Welcome to the Forum. Might I suggest that once you decide on which Tow Bar you would like , to call the Manufacturer of the unit and ask for a service center close to you. Herman

Winterize black tank & fresh tank
hermanmullins replied to richard5933's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Richard, I am lucky that I have an insulated garage where we keep the coach. In the coldest days it never get below 45 degree in the garage. I am sure that in "Beautiful Southern Wisconsin" it will get much colder than down here in "Windy North Central Texas". When we did store the coach in a covered, but open, storage shed, I would drain the three tanks, put some Pink Antifreeze in the darins and blow out the water lines. I didn't run any of the Pink stuff through the lines. I felt like if I blew out the lines there was no need to put anything in the water lines. With winter coming on let me just say, "Keep Cool" Herman -
Winterize black tank & fresh tank
hermanmullins replied to richard5933's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Richard, If it were me and I was concerned, I would drain and flush the Black tank, then add a few gallon of water so nothing solidifies and add about 2 pints of Pink RV Antifreeze. I would do the same with of Gray water tank. As for the fresh water tank I would drain it as best as you can and drain the hot water tank then blow out the water line with air on the shore water hook up. The small bit of water in the bottom of the fresh tank won't cause you issues, as well as the Gray and Black tanks, as they all it will have plenty of room to expand of it happens to freeze. If you are still concerned about the fresh tank pour in a half gallon of Vodka into the tank and enjoy dewinterizing in the spring. Herman -
LVH2468, Welcome to the FORUM. I believe you are asking about putting your RV with a company that will sell your coach on consignment. There are several across the country. Two of the best in the Southwest, especilay Texas are Motorhomes of Texas and PPL. MOT is located in Nacogdoches, Texas (888) 360-3320. PPL has three locations Houston, (713) 988-5555, New Braunfels, TX and Cleburne, TX is (800) 755-4775. Good luck, Herman

2006 Monaco Dynasty Dash air conditioning problem
hermanmullins replied to monacoman06's topic in Chassis
Chassis manufacturers don't make air conditioners neither do engine manufacturers. Your problem needs an automotive a/c tech that knows his stuff. I had an issue with mine. I checked all fittings. All were tight except one. I was able to tighten it less then 1/4 turn. I charged the unit, no more leak and it cools like a dream. Herman- 11 replies

Kevin, From what I have heard some of the TT Parks are in need of upgrading while others are still pretty nice. As a casual camper I personally would not recommend a membership. However if I were a full timer than I would consider it. It just isn't practical for someone that isn't going to places to stay for several weeks at a time. Good luck with your decision. Herman

RV Glass Solutions, FMCA commercial member. Did a great job for me and did it in Perry. I did have it all set up before hand. They also have installers across the country. Herman

Clarification, I was fortunate when my radiator gave out to be home. I called Coach Net and they had it towed to the repair shop. There I had it re cored. I did however called Source Engineering and found out they would make a unit but the cost was much more than the re core. I find this hard to believe. Spartan doesn't make the engine or starter for the engine. You would have had either a Cummins, Cat or D/D and there would have been plenty of starters around, pricey but available. Herman

Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk
hermanmullins replied to hermanmullins's topic in General Discussion
Bill, I have learned that where you keep the grass mowed you don't have Chiggers. But where the grass and weeds are tall then you have them. Best thing I have found for chigger bites is to cover the bites with clear finger nail polish. In less then 2 minutes the itching is gone. Herman -
Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk
hermanmullins replied to hermanmullins's topic in General Discussion
Joe the worst bug you have down here are CHIGGERS. If you move to the city where the lawns are always mowed and neat not a big issue. But go into weed and tall grass, woe! The best thing I have found is sulfur. I keep a ole sock with it in it and dust my ankles, feet and legs when i have to be in the tall grass on the farm. But it's home and wouldn't change it for any thing. Well lots and lots of cash might change that. Herman -
Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk
hermanmullins replied to hermanmullins's topic in General Discussion
Yes, April and May are the worst time in many areas. One of our members came to a Rally and the bugs were so bad on the front of his coach, you almost couldn't tell the color of his coach. And the one thing you want to do is clean them off as soon as possible. If you don't they are almost impossible to get off. Herman -

What is sad to see is the driver that has never been in "The Love Bugs", turn on their wind shield washer and wipers. Boy what a mess and you have to pull over because you can't see. Herman -

News print has always been good for cleaning glass but since we travel quite a lot, I read the news on line and don't have a good source for news papers. Bummer. Herman -
Ken, You are correct P/FJ doesn't cater to RVs. But no one does. It is either Autos or Big Rigs. But P/FJ does provide an RV fueling lane, dump and propane also some of the freshest fuel around. But they also provide a great deal for the trucker, showers, parking where they can get their needed rest and lots of fairly good coffee and food. It is your prerogative to purchase fuel where you want to, But to say they are ripping off RVers is unfair. Sorry just my opinion. Herman
