  1. Boatman, after seeing the pictures my question is how is the interior? If it is in good shape I say follow Ian's thoughts. He seemed to have made a wise choise. If you have to also have to redo the interior I myself might reconsider how to proceed. Good luck and I hope all works out best for you. Herman
  2. I think we have strayed away from the topic. I feel that there is no one way to mount your FMCA plaque. You can screw it, tape it, tie wrap it, even high strength glue it. It all comes down what is best for you. All the suggestions have been good and we hope the OP has his proudly mounted by now. Herman
  3. One way to check if the pump is working, since most of the time you can't hear it when you are in the drivers seat, is to turn on the key and go to the rear of the coach and set you remote start switch to rear. From there you can hear the pump by turning the coach on and off. (Note: be sure to return the switch to front when finished. Don't ask me how I know this.) Herman
  4. David you are correct ( nor would I back it down a ramp.) However Lots of folk do tow a boat and have a receiver mounted on the front of their coach and will park the boat reverse the MH and then push the boat down the ramp. this leaves the drive tires at the rear and not in the water. We had a picture back a year or so that showed only the top of a MH in the lake. It was funny, sad, but still funny. Hope you can find the boat and motor you can fish from. So it won't be a Tall tale, send us some pictures of what you catch. Herman
  5. Denny, Welcome to the Forum. I-80 has some ups and down hill but no mountains from Kansas City to Rock Springs, WY. I-70 going through Denver and west take you over some really high passes and heavy traffic through Denver. I myself would take I-80, stop and see my son in Cheyenne then on west. But that is just me. Good luck, happy travels and again welcome. Herman
  6. Here is another you might try. https://pdxrvwholesale.com/products/12-vdc-illuminated-switch-on-off Herman
  7. Wayne, your correct a out Miller Creek. It is a nice park, a bit tight but still a nice park. My only suggestion is to make your reservations early, they fill up quickly. Have a good time. Herman
  8. Where in The Lone Star are you going and when? Herman
  9. Hawk, I do know that sometimes disconnecting the Positive cable for a short time will reset the control boards. But then again my memory is a bit old. Herman
  10. Back to he question. To vent or not to vent. Gas cans both metal and other materials are all over the spectrum Some are vented for ease of pouring and some are not (glug, glug). Some are have pouring spouts some don't. If you are comfortable with a vented, non vented can in your back seat or trunk of your car the is your choice but please don't park or drive too close to me. My choice, in the bed of the truck strapped down and vented and non vented, I have both and sometime fill both. Be safe and smart. Herman
  11. Blakley, I was in the welding supply business off and on for over 40 years. It was and still is to put a High Pressure cylinder or fuel gas cylinder in an enclosed vehicle, the back seat or the trunk. Most welding supply stores have a standing regulation the the customer must place any cylinder on the dock for exchange and the replacement cylinder is placed on the dock to be put in the customers vehicle by the customer. this will relieve the business of any liability. Also cylinders must be returned with cylinder caps and there isn't a cap onthe returning cylinder the customer must purchase a replacement before taking possession of the replacement. That being said this regulation only applies to the welding industry. Go have your propane gas grill cylinder refilled none of this applies. There is no problem with me in carrying a gasoline can, I have a truck and it is always secured to the bed. Herman
  12. Bill, several things. First he is putting decking on the roof and I assume 20 to 30 pound felt. With the solid surface he should have very little cosmetic damage. And second, he is far out in the country and cosmetic damage to an out building shouldn't be a issue. We live in a all metal home. The entire house was decked out with 3/4" decking material, felt on the roof and TyVex on the walls. We have had some really severe storms with no damage. Since it was a home we had it spray foam insulated completely. Consequently you can not hear any noise when it rains. But as you said looks like his builder is doing a good job. Herman
  13. That is why one of the biggest expenses for the Navy is chipping hammers, scrapers and gray paint, GALVANIC CORROSION. Herman
  14. If I am not mistaken most coaches the house Batteries are also charge from the alternator when the engine is running. And with those small items on 120 volts you should have no problems. Our Samsung RF-18 runs 24/7 off the inverter with no issues with the batteries. Herman
  15. Eric, Being out in the country be sure and tell you insurance company that you have a metal roof and it mayl help in the insurance. Also tell your agent for your vehicles that the MH will be parked under full coverage, that to might help. Looking good. Herman
  16. David, Sounds like a good group. Have you thought about maybe starting a "Hampton Beach Chapter"? If you think about it and are interested let me know and I will help you form one. Herman
  17. Second picture looks smoooooth. Quite an undertaking. Keep us up to date on your coach. Herman
  18. Carl, I think the number of members stated, 66,747 was referring to members of the Forum. You are correct in the FMCA membership, the last info. I got was we were closing in on 78 thousand. We are growing at a nice steady pace. Renewals are up with more and more continuing their membership. If you remember, several years ago, Chapters were given certificates for free membership (new). The renewal on those free membership was miserable to say the least. The best tool for recruiting members are our current members. Visiting with folks we meet in an in an RV CG and introducing them to FMCA. But I also find that if I recruit someone I need to follow up with them and see how they are doing and invite them to visit a chapter. But again, we are growing. Herman
  19. Thanks for the information. Being an ex-trucker (I think) you would know all about low clearances and much much more. Herman
  20. Jim, is that 8 batteries on one or two inverters? Carl has 8 batteries with two inverters with 4 batteries each. I am not sure how long they last without recharging. I believe each has designated items they service. Herman
  21. Jim you are correct, No one but someone that owns or has owned your brand of coach knows where some tech may have hidden the one fuse you need to locate. Herman
  22. Jim, I agree that 6 doesn't seem like alot but that is just at the moment you check. I would wager that on any given day there may be as high as 300 to 500 + folks aday checking out the latest topics or post. I had the numbers at one time and it was in the thousands of hits per month. There are many folks that just look see and never post. But please keep checking and passing on the good advice and information you have. Herman
  23. Yes I did, see my next to last sentence. Got them clean and check them quite often now. Herman
  24. Bill, how have you found to be the best way to remove and clean the old sealant? "Once you get it started it will come up pretty easily." Didn't find this to be too true, but I did get it off. I have found that I have scraped off the old, cleaned with mineral spirits and applied the new Daycron 10 (? spelling) Self Leveling sealant. This seems to work. Any better solution? Herman
  25. Look what can happen when you plug in with the power on. I had an electrician install a 50 amp plug for the RV. He did a good job but I didn't tell him to put a disconnect or breaker at the box, so I have been just plugging in with the plug hot. I have since added a breaker and a new 50 amp receptacle. Here is what can happen to the plug when you plug into a hot receptacle too many times. I was able to clean the pins on the Plug and all is fine now. My statement to myself was, "live and learn stupid". Herman
