  1. Wayne, Yes thanks for the calculator B
  2. Just to be part of the pick on Carl crowd, you are right W.Bill how is it that Carl is calling the kettle black... he might be worse than you are...just sayin😕😁 But we have not met, lookin forward to that day. be
  3. Air infiltration with low volume of fuel in the tank would be a good guess. Not uncommon in Safari coaches but not common either it happens.
  4. I learned to never change filters when fuel is low in the tank as there can be prime loss and air sucked into the line as the fuel flows back to the tank. It can get worse as well if the fuel in the lines makes it all the way back to the tank...just ask me how I know. Perhaps a gasket doubled as you reinstalled the filter creating an uneven surface and poor seal. As for the over run , interesting, someone with more knowledge that those that have answered will have to fill us in
  5. Carl, those taxes on the house of 263K is about 1/4 of mine and I pay $4,000 in Colorado, not locked in and no walk to the beach, nice mountain views and plenty of snow. I went to the calculator and holy cow! Colorado looks pretty good Sales Tax here 4.6, yup personal property tax on cars and trailers every year income tax...they get you commin or goin
  6. This is good you guys as we too are looking around as to where to winter and travel far and wide north as the weather fades into spring and summer. We liked the hill country last year when we went to Fredericksburg and property did not appear to be all that expensive. Carl, Wayne what is the tax rate for residential under ten acres.
  7. I had to replace all the exhaust gaskets on a 3126B CAT and I used a lot of "PB Blaster" to make sure the bolts would come out, spraying days ahead of the effort. All came out cleanly.
  8. Hey Carl about time you got back and back to work... When it rains does it defeat the sulphur on the rope trick...wonder about snow? Who is eating the birds off the bird feeder
  9. Judging from what we saw a lot. At least it is not nearly as bad as Oregon and Washington...yet.
  10. Speck...Thet would be the same...lucky guys they were. In addition to that story, they were here visiting and as they were leaving heading out I 70 West up Mount Vernon Canyon a heater hose blew as it entered the basement on the left side. It blew out 6 or 8 plus gallons of coolant. Mike caught it pretty quick but on the side of the road again. They called a tech on a Sunday in Loveland an hour + away on a Sunday and then called me hollering for help. I was 15 minutes away and aside from chasing parts had him on the road in two hours. I bypassed the heating system, filled him back up and away they went. Moral of this story, carry a spare length of heater hose about 3/4 feet long if you have a 3126 B Cat. Use the water from the coach to bail yourself out of trouble. Change back to real coolant later where is is convenient.
  11. Your senses are working correctly. That would be my thought as well. Vibrations in the steering wheel/column usually indicate the front end and in the seat the rear. Thump Thump when a truck goes by or is being passed means get the devil out of the way. It would be no different with your rig except you are going to pay the repair bill and suffer the fright when it lets go.
  12. LAst year we spent time in Fredericksburg and the drive in and out very nice. It would be a consideration for sure.
  13. The best battery on the market today is CROWN with Trojan a hot second. They have several to choose from space dependent. I am using the CROWn 260, a 260 amp hour unit and expect ten years. That said the second coach I have, a 2001 Safari Zanzibar has the original chassis batteries still in it and hold up just fine under a comprehensive load test. That said they are Interstates "Workhorse" and are no longer made...wonder why....
  14. Have a friend with a BAFARI, last one of two built as Beaver/Safari went under. along the way they bought a Good Sam warranty. Just a month or so early summer 2018 the engine developed a problem that turned catastrophic in Missouri. Good Sam was on it like white on rice! New engine complete 30 grand and their part was around 2 thousand or less. Sometimes and the right adjuster, it pays off... My luck like playing LOTTO
  15. Some of us with long stems from the inside dual could use some support, particularly if the rubber plug support will not stay put or is missing.
  16. Yes but coach net delivers you to whom they wish not your wish...Think I will give AAA a shot as am with them already with the cars. They should be ok as long as I am not toting the big trailer. If I am using the much smaller flat bed "utility" trailer the Jeep can handle it unloaded. I have also considered Good Sam again with out the big cargo trailer.
  17. I too am in the self insured camp. The only issue I have had is a drive shaft loss and turns out I was not greasing the U joints properly. How is that you might ask. I always greased it every season but always loaded...in Park, while the park brake was probably on, nope that is incorrect. The wheels should be chocked and the rig in neutral anad the Park brake off, no load on it. It should have some looseness to the shaft and it will take the grease properly.
  18. It is a lot less using the dry washes by Mothers and may others for the same shine. As Brett says "DEALER PROFIT" I have been in the auto body business since 72 and that is what it will be PROFIT. You will still have to wash it.
  19. Great alway the simple things that get in the way first. Happy motoring B
  20. WBill, The things need to be maintained and cleaned up once in a while. I suspect that ones that left their mark, were in place for a long time. I used the vinyl bras on show Porsches for years and never had any abrasive results. I recently bought a 993 twin turbo car that had been a road car used by a business man with a couple businesses in Nevada. He drove the car regularly from So. California with a bra on it. The only sand damage was around the headlights where it did not cover, otherwise the paint was perfect on the entire car. I drove it 25 thousand miles and sold it for 20 more that I paid for it. None of these implements are fool proof, though some think so...some care required no free rides. B
  21. Pete, welcome lots of info here and the only dumb question is the one you did not ask LIkely a contaminated system. There should be a screen filter at the pump. I would check that first off and see if it is contaminated. Others here will have a better blow by blow how to resolve the issue. Most of the pumps are pretty robust and will run for a long time.
  22. yes no problem Just remove if it is wet underneath and the sun is out. If the sun hits it and it gets hot the super heated moisture will permeate the clearcoat and fog it. Dry the bra and reinstall. Where did you order from as I wish to order one for my Panther Thanks B
  23. Oh boy sounds familiar....check the battery isolator it is a common culprit making multiple alternators look bad when they are not and when in fact it is the Isolator! Keep us posted. Just ask me how I know
