  1. So on 10A you just turned on the burner and let set the AquaHot in the basement to 40˚?
  2. Well, I got the new to us MH in October '17 and they were working on a solution for IFS then. Hmmm! Maybe I should give them a call. (Or email)
  3. We were going to our Son's house for Super Bowl and there were 8 of us. There was about 1/2 dozen halves left over. Instant pot: Place in trivet. 1 cup water; layer as many eggs as you need. Close lid; set pressure cook for 6 minutes and after 6 minutes let a natural release occur for 6 minutes. Release the rest of pressure and place the eggs in Icee cold water for 5 minutes. Peel and there should be no whites pulled away when peeling, it's that simple. Use you own recipe for mixing up the yolk and spices. We also added some caviar (cheap stuff) to the top of the yolk mix after stuffing the halves, and on some we added capers, and others were just the plain old Deviled eggs. If you want softer yolks decreas the pressure cooking time. The nice thing about Electric Pressure Cooking is that you can add as much as the pot will allow and it does not change the cook time. 1 egg, 6 minutes. 2 dozen eggs, 6 minutes.
  4. Get the Instant Pot Ultra. It has a setting for altitude adjustment and is 8 quart. You'll be happy to have the 8 quart. I just did 2 dozen eggs in ours for Deviled eggs. They peel without braking white.
  5. My 40 footer had a little play and I had Freightliner go over it. The tech said he tightened all the bolts on the front and and it did make a little difference. However, I did buy the Safe-T-Plus and put it on the 40 footer. I can say unequivocally that it helped. Potholes, drafts from 18 wheelers were all reduced. My personal experience says it was worth it. But the best saving grace is how it acts if you have a front tire blow out. With the Safe-T-Plus you are supposed to be able to bring it to a controlled stop. Fortunately I never tested that theory. I have seen their videos. I'm on the waiting list for an IFS system from them.
  6. We have been fine here. I haven't even winterized the MH this year. Don't think I'm going to need to. Worse case scenario would be to bring it home and park it in the driveway with 50am and let the AquaHot take care of the basement. Anyone know how much current the AquaHot takes without a demand from thermostat, just the thermostat on the AquaHot for basement heat?
  7. As I stated, I traveled the 101 from LA to about 20 miles from the end in Washington state in a 40 ft DP towing a Saturn. Never even thought about unhooking - no reason to. I'm wondering where you had to unhook at. I have Taken the 101 over the Golden State bridge with a 40 ft 5th wheel, towed with a crew cab long bed F350 King Ranch, and in the 40 ft MH. Going around up through Oakland was not that much easier. One time I took Hwy 199 out of Crescent City. Now that was a trick! DW kept commenting how far it was down on her side. I told her to just pickup the camera and take pictures. 🙂 Since we were going to the Lewis-Mccord Joint Base we cut across at Aberdeen on Hwy 8 so I don't know about 101 going up to Port Angeles. It was all a good ride. The one time we took Hwy 199 we took "The 5" to WA State.
  8. Let me set the wind straight when playing golf. I teed up, took out my 3 wood, hit a perfect shot landing on the green 150 yards away. I normally hit a 3 wood 200-220. The wind was straight in my face. Made par 3. Kwitchyerbellyachin' you just had a breeze.
  9. The traveler is an open faced antenna capable of 3 lnb's and will receive all sat signals. The DOME antenna's will only received HD from DISH network.
  10. Eric, what is your address and when are you traveling and for how long?
  11. I used RV Trader to find my present coach. Made them an offer, they countered, I came back and they accepted. You know they didn't loose any money over the deal but I also know I got a good buy. I wrote them a check for the extended service plan and the next day I called and cancelled it for a better deal elsewhere. They were not happy when I put a stop on the check, but I was.
  12. Steve, I don't know what satellites or bands DTV transmits HD on. The KD-3200 comes preprogrammed to Sat 101 and can be programmed for Sat 119 locals and will automatically switch between the two. Those two sats are on the KU band. It will not receive signals from the KA band, sats 99 and 103. According to the King Dome website the KD-3200 will only get SD channels using the H24 receiver. The only advantage of having DirecTV over DISH is if you are into sports. Their sports package is more robust that DISH's. My Son has DTV just because of that. Also, DISH received HD channels and Local channels if you are a subscriber to local's in your area. Just call them and give the zip code you are in. The KD-3200 works with all ARCs of the DISH Satellite system. Do you need DTV or can you, or want to, switch to DISH?
  13. I also have a Traeger. They have a new one out now that weighs 40 pounds and uses 5 pounds of pellets in the hopper. Had I not just bought the Weber 1200Q for the MH I'd go with the pellet. Oh, DW has the Ninja Slow Cooker. I keep telling her the IP will do the same thing.
  14. Oh boy! Don't get me started. DW thinks I'm an Instant Pot fanatic. I started out with a Power Cooker, gave it to my DIL, bought a 6 qt Smart IP and now have both that and the 8 qt Ultra. I like most of the recipes on https://pressureluckcooking.com/ and he does a great job of presenting his material. When it comes to models, it is so much easier to find IP recipes that fit all the bells and whistles than to convert to other model pressure cookers. My favorites so far are Clam Chowder, Chili, Seafood Gumbo, Baby Back Ribs, Pulled Pork, Hard Boiled Eggs....and many others I have forgotten about for the time being. Yes, I take ours (1 at least) with us when we travel. It doesn't matter if you do 1 pound of something or 3 pounds of something. If the recipe says 30 minutes then that is what it is for any amount. Try Hard Boiled eggs that are going to be deviled for a party. Through a dozen or more in the pot with a cup or so of water and cook for 5 or 6 minutes (depends on how hard you want them done), release the steam, dip in ice water and peel without pulling any white off. Yep! Love the IP.
  15. Steve, I answered your PM. I'm still under the impression that there is no dome satellite antenna on the market that will received DTV HD. With that said, and the rumor that DTV is ending SD broadcasts, I'm guessing that one of the Mfg's will come out with a Dome that will get DTV HD. Better to bite the bullet, spend the ridiculous amount of money and get a Winegard Traveler antenna. You may get some answers HERE
  16. Ray, Today is cold, about 45˚ but after today the temps go into the low 70's. No way would I come up there to cook in your temperatures. There are lots of campgrounds in this area and most a reasonably priced. You can find a CG for under $500 a month, FHU included. Come on down and escape that terrible climate. BTW, we spent 5 weeks in Bremen, IN. How close are you to there?
  17. Looks like you have a moat on one side. Remind me not to mess with your wife. I like my teeth.
  18. Well, it is 11:30 ish and the outside temp is 60˚. I sure wish winter would end.👺
  19. So are you saying you are going to ask DW to help?
  20. Nope! Not mine. Mine is the one with the travel trailer on 50 foot stilts.
  21. We have done The 101 where it connects to The 5 in LA and taken it all the way to Aberdeen, WA in the 40 footer. I'd do it again in the 43 footer - towing with both. We have traveled some of The 101 around Olympic National Park but I don't remember the road conditions - more sight seeing for me.
  22. The wind does not blow in August and trust me, you don't want to be here then. Too hot. I love the game of golf. Unfortunately two acl reconstructions, two rotator cuff repairs and 1 knee replacement has kept me from the game since about 2007. Didn't matter the temperature except for my 1 rule. If it was 40 degrees or below I did not play golf. I play 4 to 5 and sometimes more games a week and on weekends sometimes 36 holes. Had my handicap down to a 10 with a typical 11 and once a 9. Didn't matter the high temperatures. Played without a glove and just kept a towel handy to dry the hands with. Used non-slip grips (corded) The Hill Country has rivers and lakes so you are going to have humidity. Maybe not as much as down here on the coast but it will still be there. Different areas of the Hill Country are going to have the varying prices on housing. There will be a wide spread range of costs. You can find houses that are inexpensive and then those that are half a mil or more. I like using Zillow.com when looking at housing. It populates the map and shows the price of the house displayed on the map. That way one can see an easy representation of what they can afford. Take San Marcos for example, a rapidly growing area, you can find houses from $100k (fixer upper) or less and on upward. You can easily find something in your price range but then have to determine if it is what you really want. p.s., that wind keeps us warm in the winter when blowing from the Southwest and cool in the summer from sweat evaporation. One thing is for sure. If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait 5 minutes.
  23. Here are the Cities In The Texas Hill Country When i retired in 1984 from the military I had married a Texan and her parents lived here in Texas City. DW was born in Corpus. I was born in Central Mass. (I lived there for 18 years but it was an accident of birth.) I did not want any part of snow and cold so decided to settle down in Texas. We both worked and put up with the Texas Summers, hurricanes, storms, etc. Since another retirement in 2007 we started traveling again after several hiatus years. We now escape the heat and the hurricanes by traveling during the summer months to more moderate climes. The coastal areas and hill country areas have temperatures during the summer in the 90's with many in the upper 90's. The coastal areas have much more humidity and the only saving grace is going from house to AC Car to AC building. Doing anything outside in the Summertime will always result in soaking clothes with sweat. I'd much rather sweat than freeze. One eventually becomes acclimatized to the Summer heat and knows when to stop and rest with plenty of water. The lows during the winter along the Gulf Coast is similar in averages to many of the Hill Country areas. If I had to do it all over again and circumstances permitted I would choose the Hill Country with vacations along the Gulf Coast. Travel to the many areas of Texas during the different seasons and make a decision on which area you would be more comfortable in. Today, Johnson City, TX, and for the next 10 days, has better weather than we do here on the coast.
  24. Keigm, I don't think there is any one place that is "paradise," excluding those cities with the name Paradise. The Texas Gulf Coast, and Florida, have hurricanes. More than once we have evacuated because of them. As you get away from the Texas Gulf Coast you run into other items that you may not wish to have, floods, cold, heat, etc. South Dakota would be to cold for me. The Hill Country of Texas is nice but it can get cold there. As for the Hurricanes, if you get about 100 miles or more inland the threat is considerably reduced. Others should be along with their opinions shortly.
  25. I get cold just reading posts about cold. Stop it anytime. We have a chill spell right now. it is almost 9 a.m. and the temp is 41˚. Today and tomorrow will be chilly but NO SNOW. Then it warms up into the high 50's and low 60's. As far as I'm concerned, below 70˚ is freezing. I'm going to try and talk DW into warmer climes next year. We are Summer Birds, we leave Texas towards end of may and return around October to beat the heat.
