Seattle to Philadelphia Sept and Oct
wildebill308 replied to brucebollert's question in Destinations/Attractions
I agree with Tom. You should be ok. If you are going to Philadelphia first I would take I-90 East. to Cleveland and south on I-75. Do you have reservations in New England? Where in New England are you headed? I would not recommend just showing up and expecting a spot at any campground that time of year. Many campgrounds close after Labor Day. Hear are a couple of apps you might like. http://www.rvparky.com/ http://www.rvparkreviews.com/ http://www.passport-america.com/ Bill -
We don't know that DD until the OP reggink comes back and answers some questions. The original question included the LA area,"Planning to travel in August from Spokane to Seattle to the LA area going toward the grand canyon." Bill

Welcome to the forum. If you want to go down I-5 it isn't that bad. Do you want to be in LA or by pas it? I went around the north side to Pasadena then the 210 to I-15 north to Barstow to pick up I-40 to Williams and the Grand Canyon. Have you made reservations in Trailer Village RV Park (in the park) yet? I would do it now because it is much easier to get around the park. Shuttle buses come to RV park and pick you up. Trailer Village RV Park, 100 Trailer Village Rd, Grand Canyon Village, AZ 86023, visitgrandcanyon.com (928) 638-1006 If you don't want to go into the LA area you can cut a lot of driving off by cutting over to Bakersfield from I-5 and taking 58 into Barstow to pick up I-40 Let me know if you have any questions. I agree that they could do better in the retention department. However we are dealing with demographic whose average age is ( I heard it but don't remember exactly) mid70's. You are going to see a point where people can't travel, sell the coach, and drop their membership. You also have some make that last trip. So with out access it is hard to know the breakdown of your 22%. Simple improving recruitment by 25% would more than offset that trend. Bill

Start a chapter in your area. Bill

If it is a matter of membership, then FMCA is doing a really really poor job of recruiting. I believe if you look at the total number of "Motorized" RV 's are registered you will see we have maybe 2% of that number as members. I still don't see swarms of people who have towable lining up to join. Bill

You might not get a answer as this is a 4year old thread. Bill -
San Francisco International Airport

That is the best solution. Bill -
Welcome to the forum. You haven't added your coach or toad to your signature so I don't know what kind of toad you have. I would take it and have it repaired as Brett posted. Bill

Watch out not only does she have the look but she has the hammer. Bill

I have to watch the tack as it is 38' behind me. 6 speed Allison and it can be manually shifted and has a econ mode. Look on the main website for the tire program. You can buy tires for your other cars through the program two. I bought 4 Michelin Defenders for my CR-V last fall. I am hoping Continental will start offering tires for other than big truck's. We take both The longest last year was around 90 days the shortest 4days. I think a good battery program would be a good project for FMCA to get for the membership. Bill

275/70X22.5 is so close I doubt it would be noticeable. Use a tool like this size comparator to see the difference in size. https://tiresize.com/comparison/ Bill

I have a volume control 2 and on one trip this spring it got turned up. I couldn't figure out where the strange noise was coming from at first. Bill

Have to ask, are you trying to make a funny or are you serious? In what way doesn't it measure up? Bill

I have the not so huge 2003 5.9 Cummins, pre exhaust filters and def. Last year I did pretty good on mileage at just over 9 but this year all my trips have been West and had to fight the winds of west Texas, New Mexico and AZ. Right now I am at just over 7. Last year I put 12,235 on the couch. My toad is a 2014 CR-V. On the same trip I put more miles on the toad. Your coach is small enough to get in most areas. Well lets just say go try it, you can start towing something latter. To stay on subject what tires did you buy and did you use one of the FMCA programs. I don't want to get put in time out for straying off subject. Bill

I would rate Continental as good as Michelin and there is the availability issue. Bill

Well just logged in with Edge and can see my signature. Must be a problem with compatibility with Chrome. Mark, you can add your coach and other info to your signature. It helps when asking questions to get better answers. Bill

My coach is diesel. I call it the "mobile condo" I park the condo and go exploring in my toad. Icould be envious of your milage. Mine is just like yours with out the "1" in front of the numbers but the toad gets 30 mpg. Bill

I would look at the Continental program. Bill

Nice coach. Apparently they have tweaked the forum again. It should be in my signature 38N Bounder. It is handy to add your coach and other info to your signature. If that feature is working all the time. Bill

That is never a bad thing. Bill

Welcome to the forum. When calculating travel in the coach I use 50 mph as a guide to planning trips. Depending on where you are going that would be about 22 hours driving. That isn't counting breaks for fuell, stretch or lunch breaks. Let us know how it works out not having reservations. I like having reservations so I know I have a place to stay and don't need to be searching for some place instead of enjoying happy hour. Bill

Welcome to the forum. Yes 6-7 years is the accepted time frame to change out tires. Look on the sidewall there is 4 digit code telling what week and year they were made. Most will never wear out a set of tires they age out first. I would look at the date codes on the new tires, I wouldn't accept anything over 6 months old. Bill

Welcome to the forum. How many miles have you driven this coach? Have you had an all wheel alignment done? Have you adjusted the tire pressure based on weight? You Probably don't need swaybar bushings, but the stiffer polyurethane ones may help. How much experience do you have driving big coaches? Bill
