  1. I have some warm sweaters I can loan Wayne till he can get back to warmer climates. Carl, the frog was in the security device as it had collected some water. Bill
  2. I think it was Herman who was worried the portable surge guards were not waterproof. Well I have been testing my surge guard for the last couple of days and it has been thoroughly exposed to the elements. When I was unhooking in Saxon, WI yesterday in a heavy rain a little green frog jumped out of the locking device. I think they are plenty waterproof. Bill
  3. Hope all goes well with your procedure. Bill
  4. Congratulations Bill you are the highest (should I use that term for someone in CO?) and hottest person on the forum. Bill
  5. Don't you have a auxiliary air compressor for the air leaving system? Bill
  6. If you look at a map of lake Superior on the western end I am right on the lower point. closest town is Ashland, Wisconsin. Take it easy at 7000 ft, don't try running up the mountin. Bill
  7. Just a thought all air systems lose air pressure over time. The question is "what is the acceptable rate". You might need to call the manufacturer and see what that is. Most (unless you have air leveling) coaches tell you to dump air when parked. You may be wasting your time chasing leaks if they are within limits. Bill
  8. As you don't have your coach information in your sig it makes it impossible to give good answers. Yes it wouldn't hurt to call and have the vin number handy. Bill
  9. One thing to add to what Britt was saying. You can still use your 50 amp surge guard if you are plugged into 30 amp service. I am in a campground right now and have a 30 to 50 amp adapter plugged into the pedestal and my surge gard plugged into that and the shore power line plugged into that. I will be fine on 30 amp today because I don't need the ac as it is only 61. Bill
  10. Welcome to the forum Balderdash. I am wondering, doesn't the new coach come with a warranty? I would put the $5,484 in a savings account instead of buying a warranty for something that should be covered by the manufacturer. I would get Coach Net to help with any problems along the road. Bill
  11. I have been in Boston several times. You do not want to drive your motorhome in to Boston. There are areas (the ones you want to see) that don't allow trucks except for small box trucks. You will have a hard enough time finding parking for a car. The closest I have camped to boston is RI so I can't help with a spot to stay. Bill
  12. I was through there last week and was surprised at the hook ups. The first one I stopped at had back in spots and the other had pull through. I would see what the website says and look on google earth to see. I did not use them but made a note for the next time. There are places to stop past the area with the power pedestals if you are just taking a brake. Bill
  13. nz8y00, Welcome to the forum. Those aren't the only air lines. Check the dump valve and the brake valve. You can use a length of hose like a stethoscope to help find leaks. Bill
  14. No unfortunately I couldn't hear the leak. I was thinking it might be the dryer cartridge plugged up or something in that area. So I called Coach Net and had them send out a mecanic. Well He by passed the dryer and that wasn't it. He finally found the leak where the hose is hidden in a bunch of wiring bundles on the right side of the engine. Well he didn't have a hose so he tried to patch the hose. I was scheduled to stay in Fort Wayne that night and figured if I could get to the park I could find a new hose. Well he got it to hold pressure and we started to head out. I was going to drive around the block to get back on the main road and didn't make it. Lost pressure and the brakes clamped down. Called Coach Net again and told them to send the mecanic back as his repair didn't hold. While we were waiting I decided to see what I could do. I ended up re doing the patch and another spot that was leaking and had it holding pressure when the mechanic returned. He had a new hose this time so I told him to replace it (a new hose trumps a twise repaired hose). It was about 1:30AM and I didn't feel like driving to Fort Wayne so we went back to a Pilot about 6 miles west. Bill
  15. This must be the season for air leaks. I just had to replace the same main air hose but I was alongside the road on 30 just east of Plymouth Indiana. Bill
  16. Makes me wonder if I am supposed to have a light. I am not tearing into it til I get home. Bill
  17. I bought one but haven't installed it. I just run the car at lunch and haven't had a problem. Personally I didn't think the Toad Charge was very robust. Bill
  18. Gee Rodger, How is that different than you jumping in and talking about cooking or some other topic that has nothing to do with the OP's question? I believe Herman has some excellent advice for you. Bill
  19. The goal is to be in Shawnee. Tonight in Saint Ignace, MI just north of the bridge. Bill
  20. Well next we are going as far north on the UP as you can go, to the Mackinac Bridge. Then down the west side of the lake to Duluth, Minnesota. Did you know that Duluth is the northern terminus of I-35? Bill
  21. I know what you mean. Two years ago I was in Phoenix and it was 112. They made the mistake of showing the weather for the whole state and the forecast for Flagstaff was a high of 72. I left for Flagstaff in the morning. By the way I am in Jackson, MI tonight. Bill
  22. The problem with having a leak with air brakes is you aren't going anywhere till you have enough air to release the emergency brakes. Bill

You don't want to get caught running red. There are some stiff fins, and it is hard to get all the residue out of your system as it shows up under a blacklight. Bill
  24. Good question Brett. If I am towing on a long day I just start and run the car while we are eating lunch. I have never had a battery problem. Well OK, I one time I got to my destination and left the car hooked up till late the next day and forgot to turn it off and it drained the battery. Bill
  25. Did you know the Core of Engineers is doing something smart on Galveston island? They use to take all the sand they dredged from the ship canal out to deep water and dump it. Now they are pumping it on shore along the seawall for beach remediation. Places that you stepped into water when you stepped off the seawall now have a 100 yards of beach or more. Bill
