  1. I have to have the key on. Like I said there is no "standard" way used by all builders. Bill
  2. Carl, can't help it I left out about the scratches I got in the coach in Washington state where the campground roads were lined by scrub trees and brush and the site was so tight I couldn't back in with out dragging the front end in the brush. When I got parked I was 4 inches from the bumper of the coach behind me and was proud into the road. But I digress. Now I know of some people who have ben using them and are happy. They are full time. I can only report what I saw and experienced first hand. I did get rather mad when they charged my credit card with out permission. That was after repeatedly telling me that it was a one time one year deal. There are other restrictions on staying in parks and if you stay over X number of nights you can't go to another TT park till you have ben out of the system a certain number of days. Charging for 50 amp. But some love the TT life. Bill
  3. Welcome to the forum. Without more information on the coach it is hard to know what the proper procedure is. Here is some SWAG things to try. First Do you have shore power? Have you have the manufacturer's instructions on how to operate the slides? If you don't have shore power I would start the generator. Have you checked the charge in your batteries? Is this a problem with all slides or just one? Please enter your coach information in your signature (see mine or Herman's as an example) this will get better answers. Bill
  4. Perhaps it needs more/better/wider explanation. Perhaps a area that explains all the featuers and how to use them for the new people and us old people. Bill
  5. Well I got talked into a TT (Thousand Trails) membership. At the time we purchased our Zone Pass in 2014, they were running a “buy one zone, get one free” deal for $545, so we got both the Northwest and Southwest Zones for that price. The sales rep we spoke to, added Encore properties to the deal. The big hook for me was were guaranteed 7 days at the property just outside Yosemite National Park. We were staying at the TT property Medina Lakes outside San Antonio Texas for a rally. I did not realize that this place pretty much mired the rest of the parks. Older Run down narrow camp sites. The campsite was on dirt no patio no table or outside amenities. The roads were dirt with lots of potholes and rough spots. There was a water leak in the dirt road in front of my campsite. As an aside it made for some good wild game watching as there was a drought in the area. All the game came to water right in front of us. The drought was so severe the lake was dry with people planting crops in the lake bed. The lake was over 80 feet below level yet according to a couple that was next to us TT was still promoting the water sports at the park when they called about a reservation. Back to Thousand Trails. South west zone includes 6 states 18 camp grounds 3 states don’t have a camp ground and Nevada and Arizona have one each. The one that I stayed at in Arizona was an Encore Property and was one of the better places. We were parked on a big flat parking lot with hookups. It is primarily for snow birds and is 90-95% permanent park model type structures. I will say this it was one of the only places that had a readymade package of information about the area and some coupons for local attractions. North West Zone includes 9 states 18 campgrounds; 7 states have no campgrounds. Only Oregon and Washington have camp grounds. Saying you have a zone that covers 9 states sounds good but it is actually only 2 states have any campgrounds you can use. Read and understand the rules and fine print. Little things tend to aggravate like you can stay free but if you want 50-amp service that is an additional $5.00 per night. The thing that made/makes me mad is they repeatedly said this was a one-year deal and I could renew it if I wanted to. Yet they charged my credit card without my permission. They said that by signing the original paperwork it became an automatic renewal. I had asked repeatedly if it was a one-year deal and was assured I would have to renew myself or it would end. I looked and my lawyer looked it over and could find no such clause. They refunded my money and we are all happy now. I know several people who have TT and love it and some are in at higher levels. I don’t want to say it won’t work. But for me I will pass. Bill
  6. I think it would have gone better if there had ben a little explination on what the changes were and what they did and why. Now some will never agree to everything or anything but it would have helped. You might be able to bring back some items after they are explained. By the way good job geting the signituers back. Bill
  7. I am mostley going to be running just water to help keep EGT temps down on long hills. If I was going to bracket race it I would be installing a little NOX and maybe a little propane. Bill
  8. Remco does show the Forester as towable with the 6 speed and the Crosstrek with the 6 speed is showing towable. The 2016 Subaru Impreza ALL AWD H4 2.0L cyl 5-Speed Manual Manual are showing towable. The 2016 Subaru WRX ALL AWD H4 2.0L cyl 6-Speed Manual Manual is showing towable the same with 2016 Subaru WRX STI ALL AWD H4 2.5L cyl 6-Speed Manual. http://www.remcoindustries.com/Towing/Store.php I would read what they say very carefully. Bill
  9. Good, you got a nice boost in performance. Yes the colder air does help. I added the Bankes $in stainless muffler a while back. I don't think it is any louder than the stock one. I like the exaust tip. Still trying to get used to this new desine of the site. Since this is an old thread about upgrades, I will add that I am looking at adding the Banks Strait shot injection system. I can run just water or a water methanal mix. Stay tued for more breaking news Bill
  10. So the old muffler was really free flowing. Bill
  11. If you can get your congressman to get you scheduled on the Monument Tour through the Department of Interior. Best one I have ben on. This is a VIP tour. They give you your own park ranger and a Government van. For example, when we got to the Washington Monument, there was no parking so the ranger pulls up on the sidewalk and says "lets go" Your car would last about long enough to get half way to the monument before it was towed. Wen we got inside the line at the elevators was about 75 people long. Our Ranger told the Ranger operating the elevator "This is a VIP tour" We went up next. I don't remember how long it took as all commuting was done on the Metro as there is no parking in DC. I think it took about 15-20 min after you get on the train depending on where you are going. That was what was so good about the little training seminar it informed you what stop you wanted to use for what attraction. It will take longer if you have to change trains but not to bad. Bill
  12. Welcome to the forum. Hands down the best place to stay is Cherry Hill Park, 9800 Cherry Hill Rd, College Park, MD 20740, cherryhillpark.com, (301) 937-7116 We have stayed there a couple of times. Great location with access to the Metro. One thing is the lady who sells the tours does a seminar on how to use the Metro Line. Washington DC's Metro system is a great way to get to hundreds of popular locations and attractions in and around Washington DC. Metro's six lines and 91 stations are located in Washington DC and neighboring Virginia and Maryland. We rode it all the way to Arlington. Are you doing the Monument tour? Bill
  13. Let me try to answer the generator oil question. This is from the Onan RV Generator Handbook. “Gasoline Engine Oil Quality – Use oil meeting any of the following API Performance categories: SJ, SL or SM where SM is currently the highest quality available. Look for the “Energy Conserving” designation to optimize fuel economy.” NOTE: Multi-grade oils (such as SAE 15W-40) are recommended for year-round use in Cummins Onan. I highly recommend Mobil 1 full synthetic oil. You can use what ever viscosity you feel would be best for your application. I would use the 10-40 high mileage. It was developed for cars that have longer oil change intervals but can be changed to meet Onans recommendations and provide better protection. Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-40 synthetic motor oil meets or exceeds the requirements of: ACEA A3/B3 API SN, SM, SL Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-40 is of the following quality level: API CF As you can see it meets or exceeds the requirements of the Onan Handbook. Also to make the OP even more confused about oil. Basically all oil is compatible. Using/adding different weight and grade or viscosity will affect the end quality for a given application. On the other hand if they weren't compatible how could they make a synthetic blend like you are running now. Bill
  14. If he is a member he should call them as soon as posible. It is important to talk to them before you do anything and get aproval. Bill
  15. jleamont is right on the money but I want to add my two cents. I would use Mobil 1 5-20 in the main engin and 10-30 in the generator. There is no problem switching between regular and synthetic. You can also add regular oil to the synthetic if you needed to or vise versa. For grease, guess what, Mobil 1 HP chassis grease is Certified to the NLGI GC-LB specifications for both chassis and wheel bearing lubrication. I just bought a couple of tubes as I am doing my annual maintenance. Bill
  16. Just curious, what about the ice maker in the frige? So far my icemaker keeps ahead of my needs. Bill
  17. You might find this video useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io9POOkjOcA Bill
  18. The absolute truth is there is no standard as to where anything is located or routed. I was tasked this last fall to go get a friends coach ready for the road. There had been a medical emergency and I was asked to get it secured so FMCA Assist could pick it up. The outside was pretty easy but I had never been in this coach and finding all the switches was a challenge. Bill
  19. Way to much. Just run the genarater. Bill
  20. I think it is what Tireman9 said. It looks like a production blemish that may make the tires un-serviceable at about 8 years of age. Bill
  21. I have seen that FMCAssist Plan works and well. I can was at a rally last fall in Rockport Texas when one of the attendees fell ill and the local hospital had him med evacuated to San Antonio. FMCAssist was contacted and they picked up his car and motorhome and re located them to a RV park in the San Antonio area (they full time). As far as I could tell it went quite smoothly. Bill
  22. I bought my 2 start batteries at my local Freightliner store. $179.00 dollar batteries for $69.00 each. I was so happy when I saw the sale I forgot what else I was going to get. Bill
  23. Clark, welcome to the forum. I think your best bet on geting info on your bus would be to PM huskycamp, read his post above. Bill
  24. Bounder made some mid entry diesel pushers, I think it was the Z model as in 39Z. http://www.bounderrvsource.com/rvinventory_item.asp?id=2271838 There are outher makers who do a side entry: 33' 2011 Serrano Maxxforce w/2 Slides http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/diesel/2011-Serrano-31212.htm and there is this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTs2S7RTuGQ Bill
