  1. Welcome to the forum, Now in order to give you a good answer I need more information. If you add your coach and other info to your signature (see my sig for example). Having your info in your signature will help to get good answers. Need the coach, model year. Bill
  2. I must be lucky as my icemaker will work just fine going down the road. It is just like magic I get set up open the freezer door and there is a full bin of ice cubes, life is good. Bill
  3. If the duct tape is sticking I don't see why you can't drive it home. Bill
  4. Ray, look at this link to the new Nissan Titan. 310 HP. 555 LB-FT. and towing up to 12,300 lbs. http://www.nissanusa.com/trucks/titan?next=header.vehicles.postcard.vlp.image Interesting the truck is 310 hp and the one in the RV is 275 hp. Bill
  5. "But, I will respond as a courtesy" Please don't bother. I have heard enough condescending opinions on how great of a expert you are on, Well every thing and I am not impressed that you are going to France in the future. I have seen you on several places and mostly to promote your self as an inspector or that you are going to be one. You don't have a motorhome and haven't for a long time so your experience comes from reading and watching not hands on doing. You have spent a great amount of time talking up 5th wheel trailers as the greatest. You may find better responses on a trailer or 5th wheel trailer forum. It is unlikely you will convince anyone on Family Motor Coach forum that they are better. The good news is you are free to go buy anything you want. Bill
  6. Tom said it, that settles it. I have the Splendide and when we had a problem I was told "we don't need it" well after the next short trip I got asked "when are you going to fix the washer?" Well the fun part I found I needed a part before I could test the circuit board. This all happened less than 7 days before we headed north east. Called Splendide they couldn't get me the part before we left so had it shipped to an address in Road Island. Well got the part and yes the circuit board was bad. Called same story, so had the part shipped to Maine. Replaced the board and it has run great since then. Now the aside on this is the damage to the Splendide happened because I didn't at the time have a Surge guard on the power supply. We were in Amarillo and I was reading with the washer running and saw the lights dim and come back up but the washer was toast. We still use the park laundromat or go to town for big items like blankets or where we don't have hookups. No I will not be without my Splendide I have been told. Bill
  7. I did come across this as the first use of the new Cummins V8 ISV5.0 in a motorhome. Tiffin is using it in the Allegro Breeze 32BR actually 33.6’. The specs look like this: PowerGlide® Rear Engine Diesel Chassis with Cummins ISV5.0 275 Engine, Peak HP: 275 HP @ 3,200 RPM, Peak Torque (lb – Ft. Max Net): 560 @ 1,600 RPM. I am interested in hearing how this platform performs. The fun part is when the Cummins factory people were showing this off at Perry GA. Last time the stated goal was to be a competitor for the Ford V10. When I asked about the future plans to perhaps scale it up some there was some winking and they said not at this time but it might happen later. Bill
  8. I looked at that episode again and did some research. They are small and heavy as they are made like a stick house. All 2X4 and 2X6 framing and 1in sheeting. This might not be bad if you stay in one place. Just a fancy park model and they don't look to be well insulated. Did I mention small. Hear is a 170sq foot Mica 20' for sale discounted to $60,000. http://www.tumbleweedhouses.com/products/tumbleweed-mica-20-clear-for-sale Now for comparison look at this trailer it is a 2015 but looks new. T185 - 35' 2015 Outback Super Lite w/3 Slides for $31,000. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/travelt/2015-Outback-Super-Lite-31843.htm Now remember PPL is a consignment lot and you can negotiate a lower price. Just so you know hear is a nice diesel pusher for a cheaper price than that 20' 170sq foot tow behind. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/diesel/2003-Dutchstar-By-Newmar-31406.htm Now to answer your question "Are they any better than a traditional tow behind RV?" NO but that is my opinion. Bill
  9. My toppers do a pretty good job of keeping the tops of my slides clean. I think the little extra shade does help when in the sun. Carl you who'd have hated it this last May in Main the pine trees were dropping pollen like a snow storm and sap like rain. Had to wash the car every other day and washed the coach just before we pulled out. Bill
  10. Welcome to the forum. Those tiny houses are great if you want to pay a premium price to live in a broom closet. Just me but I can't get excited about them. Bill
  11. They get more to put up with the RV owners. Bill
  12. Just remember that they do have grocery stores and restaurants in Georgia. Bill
  13. You ought to look at this coach. You won't find a better coach with fewer problems than this one. If I was looking I wouldn't let this one get away. http://community.fmca.com/topic/8977-selling-getting-out-of-motorhoming/ Bill
  14. I have stayed hear a couple of times. Newfound RV Park 792 Mayhew Turnpike, Bristol, NH 03222 http://newfoundrvpark.com/ (603) 744-3344 Bill
  15. They did it just to bug you. Bill
  16. Welcome to the forum and to retirement. Let the fun begin. Bill
  17. Just might have something to do with the slump in oil prices. Bill
  18. What kind of material is it made of? My compartments are a kind of plastic and I think if I had a dent I might try heating them up with a heat gun and use a big plastic mallet to bump out the dent. Bill
  19. If you do anything I recommend you have good boost and EGT (exhaust gas temperature) gages installed. I recommend them even if you don't do any mods. The key to claiming the steepest longest hill is your left hand. When you hit a hill that slows you down just down shift till you can accelerate. Now just hold it at 2000-2200 rpm and enjoy the ride. This will keep your coach from overheating. The biggest problem is other traffic you will want to stay right but if you end up behind slower traffic you will have to slow to stay in line unless there are more than 2 lanes on your side. Even if you had 650 hp you don't want to try to pull around a slow truck when you are doing 40 and closing traffic behind you is doing 75-80. Do you have the 5.9 or the 6.7 engine? Bill
  20. Carl, We juss put them mistares in to mak you more learned. Bill
  21. I think he is using it for an abbreviation for "extended warranty" Just for the record I self insure. Bill
  22. Good job, Now the shop would have taken 6 hours and told you they had to drill our 10 bolts plus you need a new exhaust manifold. They would have also charged for shop supply's and probably for disposal of used shop supply's. Bill
  23. I have to ask How can idling cause a dropped valve? I am not sure I understand exactly what is happening. Is the valve failing as in the head coming off the stem or is it the keepers not holding the valve? I would expect failure at max rpm where max loading is applied. Bill
  24. OK, I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss interpret what was going on. Bill
  25. What do you have? The 7500 QD is a diesel generator. Bill
