  1. Well I can't resist, sorry Brett, JAMES COMEY pardoned it! And now he is history, LOL.
  2. Must not have been in too big a hurry huh Carl.
  3. Well I was young and naïve back then! You can probably understand, again though, how long ago was that, 52 years I think.
  4. I am suggesting that you go to setup different than the two individual circuits, 120 volt on #12 wire with separate breakers. To do this, my suggestion is run a true 230/240 volt circuit from the main breaker panel directly to the inverter, based on your manual, please refer to page 9 of your manual, and if you are you are using the exact same Kiase inverter, on split phase, the manual suggest that a single 230 volt circuit, 30amps. To achieve this one would need to go directly to the main breaker panel and install a 30 amp 230 volt breaker, I did misstate in the previous post, this will need 3 wire with ground #10 wire would be to code. # 10 is actually necessary for a 230 volt 30 amp circuit. Anyway the 230 volt 30 amp circuit has two 30's that are locked together assuring that if one side trips, the other side will be turned off at the same time. Split phase means that the L1 and L2 measured across actually measures 230/240 volts and insures that the two are out of phase with each other and the neutral is used to balance the load one against the other. My theory is that if only one side trips and the other side remains on at the same time, your inverter, since it automatically shunts common/neutral to ground when in the inverter stage may have been the culprit that was causing an issue in the past. The transfer switch if properly wired in the past would have prevented this condition. This is the only reasonable observation why there was no problem before the transfer switch was removed, then suddenly became one. A 3000 watt inverter only produces a total of 25 amps at 120 volts, meaning that there would be a maximum 12.5 to 15 available on L1 and the same on L2, therefore.
  5. My first auto with AC was an Oldsmobile Jetstar 88, the salesman cautioned me not to run on recirculate after initial cooldown, would cause ARTHRITIS.
  6. At least in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee, BIO doesn't seem to be an issue yet. If I go where it is at that station, I will also go elsewhere, my OLD jimmy would probably croak if it saw much of it.
  7. Carl, did not get color selection they are black sun visor/screen's, not awnings. If you need awning replacement material type RV awning fabric in the search box. The url came up fine for me again, you may need to copy and paste the address on the address line, depending on which engine you are using.
  8. I use Pilot/Flying J when I can, because I have a FlyingJ rvplus card, this allows me to put in as much fuel, up to my card limit that I need. Also there is an automatic at the pump 8 cent per gallon diesel discount from the cash price, and I must pay monthly the entire balance (a true charge card), no balance = no interest. Also their app (MyPilot) is set up to notify my smart phone via text of every upcoming stop, closest proximity. By the way same card allows 5 cent discount on every gal. of gasoline and propane.
  9. The only thing that I would change at this point is to rewire from the main breaker with a 30 amp, (2 15 amps tied together) 230/240 volt breaker, 10-3 with ground wire. This is based on everything that you have done, and in following the wiring diagram from your manual.
  10. Agree call Tiffin with your serial # to ask about roof material. I would think that it is fiberglass especially since there is no seams, but a metal detector, not a magnet waved over the roof will also net the answer if aluminum or not.
  11. Obedb, I ordered mine off ebay. Here is a listing on ebay this morning http://www.ebay.com/itm/CAREFREE-OF-COLORADO-POWERVISOR-III-ELECTRIC-RV-SUN-SHADE-ZH0388948L-48-x38-NEW-/401314757855?hash=item5d70393cdf:g:CBgAAOSwIwhWS439&vxp=mtr they are very easy to install.
  12. Obedb, if you can gain access to some scaffolding to erect along the side of the MH, they are much faster and safer than using a ladder. I use them anytime I have work to be done next to the coach, including changing awning fabric.
  13. An old buddy had a 1988 pace arrow 40 foot, 30 amp service with a 6500 Onan. His was equipped with 2 rooftop ac's, could only run one ac on shore power, to run both ac's, required that the genny to be started.
  14. Bill, was the original inverters, inverters only, or were they inverter/converters? If inverter only what has become of the converter/charger?
  15. Here is the jewel that I use, takes up a little room, but easily carried on the ladder, or can be carried on the tow dolly with a little modification. https://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-heavy-duty-trailer-dolly-69898.html
  16. Acme tow dolly can be ordered with surge brakes. Also surge brakes are pretty easy to install, can be ordered at several ebay sites including Walmart. I use surge brakes because of the ease of hooking up to the dolly with them on it.
  17. Welcome to the forum Hotrod2, here is site with that info by state. https://www.goodsamcamping.com/plan/SizeLimits.aspx
  18. Welcome to the forum willygasser. An answer to your question will be better with more pertinent information about your proposed tow vehicle. Many vehicles can not be towed 4 down at all, in this case a trailer would be necessary, or a two wheel dolly, and some of the vehicles can't be towed even on a tow dolly. Most but not all on the forum will tell you that 4 down is the only way to go, while others prefer trailers, and some tow dollies. So please give us some more info about what you already have or would like to get. Many informed answers will surely come after.
  19. Locate a sheet metal shop, or be ingenuitive. The box stores "Lowes, Home Depot etc.", sell a rectangular shaped dryer vent that is extendable, you could try one of these. Place the round opening directly under the duct opening and on top of the slide unit, extending the opposite end past the edge of the slide to move that AC air from the vent over and downward. Your second post indicates that there is 2 to 3 inches above the slide, if this true what I am suggesting is doable. I would try at least one to see it this is workable, if so, then others can be added, also you can even add vents to point the air where it is most usable. Or as first mentioned, locate a sheet metal shop and explain your concerns, they deal with this type of problems on a regular basis.http://www.truevalue.com//catalog/product.jsp?productId=53217&parentCategoryId=15&categoryId=2969&subCategoryId=3125&type=product&cid=gooshop&source=google_pla&9gtype={ifsearch:search}{ifcontent:content}&9gkw={keyword}&9gad={creative}.1&9gpla={placement}&ctcampaign=4680&ctkwd={product_id}&ctmatch=&ctcreative={Creative}&ctplacement=753426-43411605579 here is an example at True value.
  20. Did you get the steering box repaired yet?
  21. I studied for a test about 54 years ago, still don't know if it is gonna wurk.
  22. It seems to me also that the ATS is your culprit based on your test. The circuit board in the ATS is a very simple device that causes a delay in the switch making the transfer until the generator has a chance to come up to speed to avoid damaging the generator. Overheating of this timing device can cause failure. Overheating in the ATS is most commonly caused by loose wiring connections inside the ATS, but I would also look at placement of the ATS making sure that it is not too close to the genny or any exhaust of same. Brett stated in an earlier post that he didn't feel that there would be any off and on of the breakers, as they are manual and need physical resetting, and I agree with that conclusion especially since the AC seems to come back alive after a possible cool down.
  23. Bill has some good ideas on his post under the other topic. Camping in the driveway is a very good idea, the house is your store. Make a list of what you think you need, when you run short and need to go to the store, that is ok, write it down and go get it. Likewise, keep track of those items that you don't really need, remove them and from your original list, you can become too cluttered. We have summer and winter clothes that we move into and out of the motorhome, of course we are not full timers, winter goes in in late fall, summer in md spring. We keep the motorhome loaded as if we are leaving the next morning, this way when there is a last minute urge, we have many of them, we just go load the dogs, and away we go. Our motorhome stays at our house and is plugged into power when here so there is no need to remove fridge items. Many happy tales and trails on your new adventure, Kay.
  24. Welcome to the RV world, if you haven't already, obtain the movie RV, starring Robin Williams on dvd. Be sure to watch it the second night out in the RV. My wife and keep the movie with us at all times and when it seems to have been a bad day with the coach, we play it again.
