The terminology as to weather the contacts are NO or NC can be determined by holding the device in you hand, with no external sources of energy (either electrical or mechanical). If the contacts are found to be open (infinity resistance with ohm meter) they are NO contact development. If the contacts are found to be closed (zero resistance with ohm meter) they are NC contact development. Hope this helps. Jim

I have no experience with magnetic reed switches used in you application, however I am familiar with their use in industrial applications. The magnetic reed switches are electro/mechanical devices that are subject to failure. I would start by testing each of the switched to rule out and determine if they are function properly. First you must determine if the contact configuration is normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO). The are two different designs of magnetic reed switches, one is triggered by anan external magnetic and others that that are triggered by an external steel plate.. Jim

Most diesel pushers have turbo boost gauges on the dash. If you don't have one I would recommend that you install one. Jim

Decision: Winnebago Tour, Newmar Dutchstar or Tiffin Allegro Bus

The side radiator provide better access to the engine for repairs, doesn't much difference for routine maintenance. Jim -
I have changed my 7500QD several times, don't remember how long it takes it to drain. I us a large rubber maid tub to catch the fuel. I know it's hard to remove the filter without having the fuel run down your arm. I just assumed that the fuel would not siphon through the electric fuel pump. Jim

When was the last time the generator fuel filter was changed? My Onan 7500 Quiet Diesel sputtered and shut down and wouldn't restart. Changed the fuel filter it fired right up. The filter had been in service less than 100 hours and never had any problem with coach engine. Jim

I would do a compression check on all cylinders. Jim

Residential Refrigerator Compressor Noise

I have the same Samsung, love it, the best upgrade that we have made. I have Magnum charger/inverter, just completed the installation of the battery monitor. Jim -
Yep, the problems that you encountered are good signs you need to perform some maintenance before it develops into a more serious problem that could lead to a catastrophic failure. I would start by checking for loose connections on the ATS and to inspect the ATS contacts. The opening and closing of ATS contacts cause an arc and over times the contacts become pitted, that causes a high resistance contact and eventually they will over heat. Make sure you never shut the generator down when it has load on it, especially if you are plugged into shore power. I have spent my career in hydroelectric powerhouses and have seen may failures due to high resistance contacts. Jim

The resistors are normally places in the duct work in the automotive industry, don't know if it applies to RV's. Jim -
My last 1999 Class A Gas rig didn't have a transfer switch, you just plugged you shore power cord in to a dedicated receptacle that was the generator output. Jim

Have you checked to make sure you don't have any water in your fuel? Jim

You control unit look like it may be out dated. The new remotes RC 50 models I was at the Magnum factor yesterday and the updated my remote to allow installation of the generator auto start feature. I would contact their technical number, they have been real helpful. Jim

Joe, You should be ashamed with your credentials. Jim

I tow my toad 4 wheel down without a rock guard, just mud flaps on the MH. No rock chips in toad paint or windshield, does get dirty at times, maybe I just been lucky. 25k miles of towing in last 5 years. Jim

Look like you are jumping into RVing feet first and hitting the road. Best wishes and have a safe trip. Jim

I place the jack down and level it the lowest elevation that is level. If you have slides and awnings they should retracted as well as your TV antenna and satellite dish if you have one. If possible park you RV with the front heading into the wind. You also want to make clear of any trees that may blow over. I have ridden out some pretty high winds on the Oregon coast without any damage Jim

Nice rig!!!!! Jim

Does the solenoid click when you try to start it. Please provide more information on year of your MH. Jim

Oneway, Please check the resistance from each terminal to ground before you install your new capacitor. Jim
-
You should also check from each compressor terminal to Ground to determine if one of the winding is shorted to ground. You want a high resistance to ground, all readings should similar. Jim

Generator Belts, Crankcase Breather, etc - Feb 2017 Article
abyrd replied to PinkArnold's topic in Electrical
The belt change on my 04 Holiday Rambled took me less than a hour to change. Generator in on a slide is the rear is easily accessible once you get the top cover loose so you can remove the rear cover. More time is required dealing with the cover than changing the belt. The beltway around $10 from Cummings. Jim
