  1. I have bought many acid batteries, over the years, for RV's and cars, that I had to go back and exchange for another because it was bad. You don't know how long a battery has been sitting on a shelf, before you bought it. Same for Gel and AGM. Never assume anything
  2. FIVE. I prefer a cruise and the week or two post cruise tours...rail and bus. Done about 2 dozen over the past 30 years!
  3. Nice interior! Did the back splash fall off?
  4. How do you get to it? That's insane!
  5. Cowpaws. Welcome to the Forum! That's one I have never seen before! Good luck.
  6. John. Are you side mount on a 40 footer?
  7. That would be one rough ride. I have seen several, custom made off road, all terrain coaches! Like Earth Roamer. Their all heavy duty 4 x 4 or 6 x 6. Never have I seen A/T on a regular 2 wheel drive, any class coach!
  8. Hardride, Jerry. Welcome to the Forum! Carl
  9. Nan. Welcome to the Forum! How old are your current (the last 4 digits of the DOT #) tires? Over 5 years, replace them with Michelins or Continentals ! Forget the Husky's!! Don't over load the coach or overthink the tires. Carl
  10. Good thinking! I have mud dabber issues on occasion, they'll build their condos, just about anywhere!
  11. Joe. My feeble, morning brain would like to know, how do you get the oil in the tank? Also, isn't 250 gallons a tad excessive? Carl
  12. Do you get any $$$ back, from what you bring in?
  13. Have you been able to isolate anything yet? Or are you trying to get inverter rebuilt or replaced? Hate to mention this, but your still going to blow the inverter unless you resolve the ground issue. I personally would go back to what you had before! Carl
  14. Roland. sorry to hear the sad news, wish them both better health in the future! All I know about that area is that the Amish take great pride in their work! That's the first thing I would look for! The only one I would trust with my floor is Ernie, but your not saying what kind you want...I understand that your going thru a bad time right now and you have a lot on your mind, along with disappointment. A little more information would help the others, help you! Carl
  15. Marc. Your correct. It's not how we get there, it's the journey! Enjoy it.
  16. Bill, your eating habit's and where you eat, has become famous... I'm with BillA on this one! anything that does not fit in a 5 gallon bucket, with lid, I'm at a loss, when it comes to 8 gallons +! Brett does it himself, but then how does he dispose of it? Carl
  17. Like everything else...Liquid, sand or rice! I try to go in for service, with the intention to fill up with fuel after.
  18. Sorry to say this. If you want access to everything, inside and out, while your on the road? Get a coach without slides! The coach of today, come with 3 or 4 slides...your coach is 101.5 or 102 inches wide on exterior and an average of 98 inches interior...you do the math! You can't have it both ways. I find that I get less dirt and grime on the back off coach, better air flow with a side radiator. As far as keeping the radiator and CAC clean, rear is easier. Getting at engine for service, then side is more cost effective. As for the original question. I would go with the Newmar Vantana, 40 foot. My significant other want's a new DP, pre Chandler Rally, she was looking at a 45 foot bath and a half with 4 slide coach...she currently has a 40 foot DP 3 slide Tiffin. She fell in love with everything the Vantana had to offer in a 40, including tag. As far as Big Bang for the Bucks, I agree! My first Class A was a Winnebago a nice, new 1967. My second DP was a new 2007 Tour 40 foot, POS that spent a lot of months in a shop over a 5 year period...as the years go by, a brand name changes and mostly, not for the better! Same with Tiffin, been there and got the T shirt. shapo. you want a 43 foot, OK. In another Post I wrote about twist an torque. Your going to want a really strong, cross braced, chassis, like the K2 or K3 by Spartan to minimize the torque! That puts you in Newmar...my humble 2 cents worth. Carl
  19. bivangep. Welcome to the Forum! I do the same as Bill. The coach under my name is #17 in almost 50 years.
  20. Thanks, but no thanks...I had a CJ7, no frills, just a heather! I also had a Army Surplus in a crate, $55 at auction, almost lost my best friend, putting it together!
  21. I have met folks who has shipped their Class A via Ship and Air, but not train, Well there was one, Copper Canyon, Mexico. You stayed on a flat car, don't remember how many days that tour lasted. Fantasy tours had it for years, then it shut down. They do have several company's that will drive your coach anywhere and back. Bonded and Insured. Cost? It aint cheap!
  22. Beautiful area. Had 3 days in Sydney, so I rented a car and got lost, Jervis is one of many areas that I stopped and asked, "Where am I"? Got some interesting responses! Mostly led to a Pub and lengthy discussion on where I should go next...made some friends in NSW and we still correspond.
