When I was Joes age, a long time ago, I did not care if I drove 300 or 1,000 miles in a day! Now, I'm in the 250-350 mile range and have been known to drive 75/100...depends of how I feel. Life should not be a hurry up thing. What in blue blazes are we doing on a five year old post? Carl

I Googled it...High dollar for small spaces. I understand that space is at a premium on the North East Coast, but $130 a night is ridiculous! Where I'm now, I have paved road in all cement slab, full H/U with cable, about 30' of grass between coaches and it's $35 a night...yes it's a resort, with a Deli, Restaurant, Saloon, Spa, Pools and the #4 rated golf resort in the US. Carl

Bill, that's only because your coach is a light weight. I would love to see you manhandle mine on/off... One thing I have learned, in all things "man has got to know his limitations"! Carl

Yea, like Hwy 118, between Alpine, TX and Big Bend National Park, TX. Yesterday, I was doing 3 to 6 and back for over 60 out of 108 miles...Crazy! Worst was wrong way banking on corners, just before a 15% hill... Carl

Quick Overnnight Stops: I-40 OKC To Nashville
manholt replied to wesgiv's question in Destinations/Attractions
Byron, as a singer, of course! Any one who don't never had or listened to a radio...I don't know her personally! So, no invite to her ranch. Carl -
Gunther. Welcome. If your going to sell the coach and not drive on any more trips, I'd be upfront with any buyer and tell them it needs new tires! How old are your batteries? If you intend to use it for trips, then get new tires before you go! What brand? It's your comfort zone. Carl

Brett, I'm an all electric coach, so if I'm on dash AC, my fridge/freezer (Whrilpool) residential 23 cu. ft runs on inverter. In Summer heat I run all 3 AC's and generator, in less than 70 degrees outside, I don't bother having the power on for fridge or freezer. Rich. 8 AGM 6V for 2 Magnum 2,800 PSW. Carl

Keon. As we have said, it's a learning curve and some love one over another...most miss understandings happen when communicating on the phone! As bm said, wrong rep. Carl

speedway77. Welcome to the Forum. Have you determined yet what make, model and length your going to get? Carl

You can also call FMCA and get Ext. 312, ask for Mike. He's walked me thru 2 times now. He explained that there was a cookie on the program back in August, now no problems, except for yesterday. I had it a half dozen times, then I just backed out and re entered and it worked each time. Carl

Herman. That only works when you can move over, but when you have a coach on one side and a golf cart on the other...where do you go? If I would have been given the permission to remove my toad, it would never have happened to begin with and I would not be out $7,082! Carl

KW, great to hear back from you again! Safe travel Carl

You can change the setting of when to charge the batteries. If you run on Inverter while traveling then set it to 60%, at that % the generator should come on and recharge the batteries to 100% then turn off, When I'm on shore power, I dial my Select to 5 amps...keeps the engine batteries happy. Carl

Herman. Yes, I do believe I remember! Not in my family... Kay. I drive in Jogging pants, real thin light weight cotton...no tag, so I don't know the brand name. I have shorts handy for fuel stop or park office! When I had a dog in coach alone, she would sit on front seat, on a towel...designated driver! LOL I used a cloths pin for emergency brake, just in case! Carl

As I have stated...works for me! I'm a member of Escapees, Alamo Ch. 11, I can go to any rally I want, but the Trailer members can not, they are limited to GS, Yet the Escapees is a FMCA & GS Chapter. There are a lot of reasons why someone choose a Fifth wheel or pull behind over a Motor Home. The once I know, have not to do with money, but convenience, they are ranchers, so they already have the big trucks and a fifth wheel is a perfect fit ! As long as it is a separate corp. should be no problem! Carl, National Director

Priestlake. Welcome to the Forum. If you have a foot or hand valve, direct dump from toilet to tank, then I would recommend you flush in a couple of gallons of water, some Dawn Liquid and a small bag of ice cubes, as you leave for the next RV park (make sure you dump your tanks first). By the time you reach your destination and dump again, you will have no solids! I used to do that about every 3 months and had no problems for 40 years! Can't do that now, I have a electric maceration toilet (no valve)! Carl

I don't carry my rock with me, I leave it on the deck at the house. If it moves, it's windy, wet = rain and white, it's snowing or I have a seagull problem! Other than that, a weather alert and thermometer in/out is all I need... Carl

Would You Let Your Teenager Drive Your Motorhome?
manholt replied to aztec7fan's topic in RV-ing with Kids
Chris G. Some things are not meant to be...Ability to handle an RV and age, do not go hand in hand. I had my own at 24, but back then, it was 18 foot long, kind of like a long bed Crew Cab... and I knew how to drive a Box delivery truck, so no big step. WBill. Fully agree...it can be scary out there. Take a Trip to So. TX or FL in winter! Have no clue how some got there in one piece... -
Eric. Welcome to the Forum! We always appreciate constructive input from anyone, about any subject, any time! However, we strive, to not be destructive... So if you have something posetive, about this 8 month old post, go for it. Carl

Rusted Out Floor Under Fresh Water Tank
manholt replied to lylefikse's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
Lyle, what if you got to drop a tank? It happens, not often, but I had to have my black tank repaired earlier this year and that was done after the tank came out... Carl -
Sad, but true! My bat wing died so now I have a Rayzar Automatic for OTA and it worked as advertised...currently on cable in a RV park. 48 channels and thats more than I can or want to watch. Have had all the domes and open dish on roof, don't miss it or the $84 a month! Carl

If it's pre rally or post, Google for a RV park. If you don't mind living on generator for a couple of days, then come early...all options will be in your mail envelope, you should receive it about 4-6 weeks before the convention...of course, you could volunteer and then you'll be there about 3 days early for orientation. If you choose to do that, then call FMCA...they'll take care of you! Welcome to the Forum! Carl
