  1. Bill. You know someone will OP about towing a Civic again sometime in the future....now we have a short answer !
  2. Number 1. Brett, Joe and I agreed that we would not make this a Gas vs. DP thread! I hope everyone understands that. 2. Harry, have you and your wife looked at the 2016 Trek by Safari yet? You might be very surprised by what it has to offer! 3. I sincerely hope everyone understand and abide by Rule # 1.

    REV

REV and Allied is the same. Allied started in 2010 and became REV group in late 2015.
  4. Oh, I do agree with you on the thread ! Not trying to do that, just some facts,,,,$160,000+ is a big bite for a gasser, that will be worth, maybe, $120K when you drive off the lot. I fully understand what he wants and what he can afford. Joe, you just snuck in...
  5. Brett. Bet it's still "screaming" up a long hill and at 40' even an overpass! What I also wonder about, is how much of that coach is a welded on extension to chassis?
  6. 2015. Belongs to a friend and it's the 6.8L 362 HP with 470 Torque 35'...you might ask Newmar why they are using the 320 HP? That's 35 more than my Jeep/6 speed auto. Would Newmar build a 40' gas? They would build a 50' gas, if people would buy them, so would any Manufacturer! Every body, gas or DP, depend on the "BLING"...it distracts the buyer! Most buyers are women, the man writes the check ! The RV Industry is no different from any other Industry...They base everything upon the first time buyer and the fact: "There is a sucker born every 12 seconds" ! Sorry for being brutally honest.
  7. Joe. Re-read what I wrote. Bill. First I've heard about it. Nation wide is, among other things, an Insurance Company, so I guess CN have rolled over to them !? I have had CN since 09' when I gave up on Good Sam. Carl
  8. On some newer coaches, it has its own on/off valve in back of toilet. If you only see one, then it's like Bill said.
  9. When your conversing with Newmar, is that an Engineer or Sales man? The latter, tend to know nothing and feed you the answers you want to hear, based on your questions. I guess, I'm old school....36' and less, gas good. Any longer, go DP or UFO (don't think they make them anymore), that's front diesel. Many reasons behind my thinking, but on a practical sense, the longer a light gas unit is, the more sway and torque on chassis equates to more stress on you the driver ! Joe's right. A DP at 40' has none off the above issues, due in part to being heavier, better suspension and drivability...I hate white knuckles ! My coach would only be 5' shorter than your gas!!! I just looked at Canyon Star Spec. You have 3700 pounds to play with on a 40'...that's you, wife, food, clothing and whatever else should not exceed. On a 38', you have 5,500 to play with. 320 hp gas engine, trying to pull a 40 footer, is insane! Just my 2 cent worth... Carl
  10. Your more than welcome ! Just for giggles, the Canyon Star comes in a 37' max length, not 40" ! Think your mind is still on DP mode... Have fun and stay safe out there. Also hope you join FMCA! Carl
  11. I never use the dead bolt, I have a Glock. If you do, make sure all parts are lubed regularly with a silicone spray or graphite...then this will not happen. I have the same lock. Also, make sure you lube the out side steps monthly. There is also a spray that you can get from any RV dealer in their parts store, for your sliding windows, so they don't stick. I use it every 4 months and have no problems sliding my windows open all the way !
  12. I can picture the tire heading down the Dawson Hwy! Don't know about you, but I don't run well anymore... As long as the tire and the cage is the same height as the rest of the stuff up there, you should have no problem. I would also include a lid to keep the UV light and weather off the tire. As far as getting the tire down, I would use a small block and tackle to slide it down the ladder...not the side of coach !
  13. One hand free Blake. That's good info ! You can't have one of those cars...except for the Benz, their all stick shift....hey, hold this!
  14. Harry. Welcome. Don't know what part of the country or world you call home, if you can, I would go and take a tour of the Factories. All would love to have you and wife visit. Having had Class A's, both gas and DP's for over 45 years, if I was in the market for a gas today, I would go with either the Canyon Star or Allegro,,,NEW. DP used. Motorhome of Texas does 80% of my Service work...the other 20% I use Texas Custom Coach ! Carl
  15. I sent a PM to OP and the Rev. sent one back. I did not know that he's in the Pensacola, Milton area of FL. I told him that Dixie RV Super Center and service is at Exit 70 East bound I-10 and open today. Wish I had asked that yesterday ! His wife is on a walker and now is using a plastic bag!
  16. Especially kids that "do loud real well". Florida, Alaska, Florida in 30 days ! Your a first, good luck in finding anyone who meets that kind of MH marathon!
  17. That also goes for you, Wayne, Wild Bill, Bill E., and FIVE. Did I forget some one?
  18. LD has always been a service center for the coaches and trailers they sell...since Chapter 11 in 2010, they have become a lousy place for service! I have not been there since 13' ! Now they have added 2 more sales and service locations in Colorado, to go with AZ and FL. Camping World tried to buy them out in 13'. Would not surprise me if someone does.
  19. Joe. Just for giggles, have you checked with HR to see what the original tire size was in 02' ? 295's are hard to come by and I feel very fortunate that the dealer in Oregon was able to locate them in 14'. Carry a spare in coach? Not happening ! When I put my feeble brain in gear and remember all the flat tires I have had....way more front than rear and my fronts are 315's. Carl
  20. Herman. HUH ! When did that happen ? FIVE. Sorry...hard to keep track !
  21. Sundance. Get M&G brake system when you get a toad to tow 4 down. Forget what you heard on "the grapevine"!
  22. Hush, both of you! I'm 73 and I was 24 in 1967. Winnebago, bought at the Los Angeles, Ca., Auto show. Used it for about 18 months in Texas and La. Then had to sell it, when I got a job to train the local boys in Amsterdam, Holland for a year, followed by the Ecofisk Drilling operation in the North Sea. 69' - 76'. Came home and got a 73' Landau 24'! Now I feel as if I'm older than dirt. Thank You. Herman, like your occasional spelling, you got to work on your math !
  23. Don't know if you know, they opened up 25ac., on other side of Loop...That's where all pre-sales, sales and test drives are at. The original site is now just service for folks like us.
  24. What weight is your Tuscany rated to tow? You want a 10K tow system for peace of mind? OK. How about a different toad for the same reason? As Bill said, use a dolly or get another car ! A no brainer ! Catl
