Since you live in Houston and we can have anywhere from 25 to 80+ degrees in December! I-10 is not a "walk in the park" either, I have had plenty of snow, sleet and ice in Dec. & Jan., in TX, NM & AZ! I would definitely take Ray's advice, after all, he lives in the Puget Sound area! The only thing I would do differently, is take Hwy. 95 from Blythe, CA. to Needles and take I-40 to Barstow and then Hwy. 58 to Bakersfield! Then I-5N. Carl

Adapting New/modified Rims & Tires To 1973 Revcon 23' Motorhome
manholt replied to bragan33's topic in Modifications
I don't get it! Tire Rack, Discount Tires, Tire King and Big 'O Tire, all carry the 16.5 tires!!! Is he talking about RIM's? -
Also, do you tow? If so, what? As Bill say's. Speed, your driving habits, like trying to leave a stop like a car ( tromp on gas & burn money)! Carl

Thanks Bill. I'll use Loctite. I don't have any nail polish....no female in sight. The girlfriends that I do have, figured out real quick, don't leave anything behind that you would like to see again! Carl

Wayne. I found the little Gremlin! No lose or improperly connected wires, there are 3 going in to back of sensor, One is ground and one each to alarm and engine light. I traced ground wire and unscrewed it, cleaned and replaced. Turned on engine and got Beep. Unplugged unit and no more Beep! LOL. Called Spartan, in MI. The coolant is Fleetguard, same that Cummins recommends. Cummins Coach Care, is who Spartan recommends, unless I want to come to Spartan! No! CCC headquarters is in S. Atlanta...I'll be there Thursday! My way of "Sharing my Wealth", before the IRS! Carl

What we did in CO before I left, is take out the screw and drilled 1/16" into arm, replace screw and tightened. Had to re tighten today. The worst road I have been on in years! I-40E in the last 60 miles of Arkansas! I thought I-10, between Lafayette and Henderson Bayou, LA was the pits...it's as soft as a pillow!!! Carl

FMCA Replacement Windshield Program, Please
manholt replied to whiteeagle's topic in Membership/Benefits
Progressive must have changed! I had to replace mine on a 07' Winnebago Tour 40KD in 2010 at Lazy Days RV, Florida. They contacted Progressive and used RV Glass, my cost $ 500. Carl -
Wayne & Christine. Welcome to the Forum! Never had a tt, something about getting wet in a storm. In a coach you need not get soaked waiting to hook up in campground or just riding it out in a rest area! Generator and the comforts off home, with a cold fridge. Sounds like you got the year well planed. If you have not done it yet, go to main site, log in and click on Chapters...we got something for every taste. If your a golfer, Google Swinging Golfers (SWG Web ) and get a list off our rally's. Enjoy the ride! Carl

Roger, why I asked what your driving, is in line with what I'm thinking...a lighter coach with LT tires, would probably have a longer tire life, than a 36 to 45 DP. Is that a reasonable thought? Or am I wandering alone in the woods again?! Carl

Jim, Don't get "CUT" happy! Unless your going to park your toad in the back 40 when you want a new one! No cut, more $$$ on trade! Carl

Google Fleetwood, click on Expedition (never mind that it's a 2016), scroll all the way to bottom of page and click on manual. Then click on type of coach...Expedition and all the years show up, click on 2005 and the manual will down load for you! Carl

Thanks, Brett. I'll call Spartan today. I'm almost getting used to the Beep and yellow ck engine! I do notice that when it's on, my ability to climb is 5-10 mph less, than when it's off. Wayne, thanks for info. I'll go engine diving later...if weather permits. Currently, I'm getting some hail. Just what I needed! My coolant level, cold, is just above the see thru bubble. Hot??? My tank is metal. Have not lost any since Colorado, now in Memphis, until tomorrow. BBQ! Carl

Roger. Just out of curiosity, what kind off rig do you have? Carl

Jbrunson, Congratulations on your "new to you coach"! Are you a member of FMCA? Carl

Hi Roland. How far away is Flint or Detroit? What your looking for is a truck tire dealer not car. Then call and ask if they participate in our fleet program. Carl

Google Remco. They will have the info and parts or unit that you need.

Tom. Welcome back to the lower 48! Where are you headed next? Carl

Bob, Welcome to the Forum! If you ever have time, take your Toad up 19/460 to I-77 and you will understand why you can't use the GPS all the time in a DP or Gasser! Take the road Bill suggested. It looks and is longer, but time wise it's way shorter and no white knuckles! I have traveled just about every road in that area with my 4x4 Toad for the past 6 years. I'll be on I-77 in less than 2 weeks! Won't be in Ashville this year, cause I don't have time! By the way Hwy 19 is the road you take to get to "Tail of the Dragon". Google it. 318 curves in 11 miles! Enjoy I-26. Carl -
I have my roof inspected and re caulked if needed every 3 years and that is a good time to clean AC units also. I'm due in Jan. 16. Carl

Adapting New/modified Rims & Tires To 1973 Revcon 23' Motorhome
manholt replied to bragan33's topic in Modifications
OK, have done a little research. The rims you have is GMC. The 73' Revcon was built as a front wheel drive, and the platform was the Oldsmobile Toronado, with the 455 engine. The original tires where replaced by Radial Tires and then Radial Steel Belted. As long as the width and the height is the same any brand will do. Don't know for sure, but expect that the tire size on Revcon is the same as GMC from that era. Mr. Hall that came out with the Revcon, was the Stepson of the founder of GMC and worked as a Engineer for 20 years for GMC, before Revcon! 19.5" tires will not work as you would have to re-engineer the whole unit. You only mentioned tires, we have a tire section on Forum and you might find a post on Revcon with similar problem as yours. Carl -
Adapting New/modified Rims & Tires To 1973 Revcon 23' Motorhome
manholt replied to bragan33's topic in Modifications
bragan, Welcome. Did you check out the link that Brett gave you? If not, then please do so, they can answer your questions far better than we can! I can barely remember the Revcon and have had Class A's for 40+ years! Bill may remember the size of rims and tires in the 70's, I don't! Carl -
LOL. After all that, I will do as I always have and that is to bite the bullet every 5-6 years...replace them all! I do understand that my way, is not for everyone and the rolling change makes a lot of sense. Carl

Can you lift the rubber and use a flashlight to see any obstruction? Carl

Herman. I have rollers. What I had was metal shavings and each time the slide came in/out the roller slide not rolled, until someone on Forum told me to use a magnet. That was in March. Had slide inspected for any metal that did not belong....It was a rivet head, from where??? Gremlins.
