  1. As Bill said...he's from Houston. I will assume he knows Texas and probably coastal La. That said, I would recommend the Milton, Fl. KOA, Exit 31 off I-10 for an extended stay...lots of places to visit in a 50 mile radius! Also, get on Hwy. 19/27/98 from Ft. Walton to Perry, Fl. and Perry to Hudson, Fl. Don't know where in Fl. he wants to go, but Chiefton or Hudson is a good jumping across Fl. spot. Tom mentioned Hwy 85 from I-8, it takes you to Anjo, then Why, Az. Organ Pipe is just north of Lukeville and it's in the NE section of the Socorro Desert. If you feel like it you can cross the border at Lukeville and go another 84 km to "Rocky Point, Mexico". Just make sure you have a full tank of fuel before leaving Anjo. In Why you can take Hwy. 86 to Tucson...good road last year! Happy New Year and have a great trip! Carl C.
  2. Too my knowledge, Freightliner does not take a 2 week vacation! Bob Tiffin being down that long...is new to me.
  3. Big enemy for Diamond Shield and Paint = Love Bugs! Get them off ASAP!! I have no pitting on my Shield, therefor, no reason to remove. For me, it's the biggest bang for the bucks and if I ever have to remove it, I would have it done and re applied by Professionals. My time, is the most valuable asset I have!!! The Blake Bra looks funky and the Plexi glass will yellow over time! Lexan is price prohibitive... Carl C.
  4. J. If read this link correctly, most of us can't legally go to FMCA convention this summer in Springfield, MA. I believe we covered this "Can of Worms" in depth on another post last year!
  5. Been 10 months! This will be interesting info for another....
  6. Herman. Happy New Year! Like your idea of one pass fits all States, but that is like Congress agreeing on a issue. It ain't going to happen in my life! From reading all the States that have a Tag, we would have as many cards to keep track off as we did in Texas during dry county days-- $3.00 for a club membership to get a beer! Carl
  7. I would do as Tom say's, but I would take I-30 out of Little Rock, then I-20/I-10 to Arizona. Less chance of deep freezing temps! Carl
  8. Got my current and a Allegro Bus from Lazydays, Tampa. Sales is good, service is not! I have noticed that their MSRP is higher than Factory MSRP. I will shop around before my next coach & talk to factory about price first...then order from a dealer that has good service! FMCA Convention is a great place to start.....
  9. Wayne. Cummins is the HWH rep. in US. They install and fix, it's also the only place to get a computer mother board! Give them a call for price. Carl
  10. Greg. There is a caveat. If you do find a DP in your price range, there is a matter of care and feeding. DP's are not cheap to insure, operate, service or fix! 8 tires alone, is in the $7,000 to $9,000 dollar range, depending on size, every 6 to 7 years. You can save some $$$ if your able to service your engine. I think you should ask your race friends, the same questions your putting on us... Happy New Year
  11. And now, A Happy, safe and healthy New Year to all! Carl C.
  12. There are plenty of 5th wheel, custom trailer haulers out there, that will do the job....no class A motor homes in your price range that I know about, new or used! Any thing less than 40' and you will have the tail wagging the dog!!!
  13. I use Cummins Coach Care in Houston. Have been very satisfied with their work and knowledge. Will be there in January with a wish list. Good luck and Happy New Year. Carl C.
  14. Merry Christmas and a happy, safe New Year!
  15. The domain for the got50 has expired!
  16. Bill. Perhaps you should start beating with a 2x4, works on mules! I have never seen a sticker or disclaimer on a fuel pump! I also, would go "WHAT ?"
  17. Hi Bill. Merry Christmas. Nice thought for the RV Industry, but a tad expensive, I would think. Have yet to see the WM truck in real time. Carl
  18. I keep mine at Blue Wave Storage in Dickenson, Hwy. 6. Fully enclosed, electric, 20' x 50'....$ 3,100 per year.
  19. There are more than one! I run into Kiley at FMCA, GS and Shriners International! There are always other Vendors there, but I as many others have learned over the years to trust Kiley and as long as they have been in business, I have never had a problem! I go back to 1967, my first Class A! Off the subject, I had a Palm mix, named "Bella"....long time ago. Carl
  20. Kiley has been around for a long time! You will get your order, it just takes longer during certain times of the year. I also, get frustrated with different Vendors at times, until I realize that my order is one among thousands! Carl
  21. Roger. Ref. increase in posted speed limits. When I was young and "bullet proof", I would drive at 65 to 75 mph in a Class A! I have in the past 30 years driven my Rv's at 63 to 65. There have been times off 70+ due to passing and then back to cruise control. I can also relate to pre computers and Forums, also all the regulations we have picked up since 1994....makes one wonder how we survived in MH 1967 to pre 94'?! None belted, none Radial tires, that was fun! I run mine at 10 psi over when cold and have not had a blow out since we got steel belted radials! If I'm camped more than a couple of days, then I'll check tires. Otherwise, I'll let tire minders take care of it and I don't run around with a digital heat gun, unless I'm grilling a steak! Carl
  22. Hi all. Just returned Sunday from 4,118 miles. Avg. mpg 6.4 on a 09' Cummins 425, Allison 3000. If I use the dash computer or Silverleaf for mpg, I would be on the side of the road, looking for Coach net to bring me fuel! Constantly! I zero my "B" trip meter each time I re fuel, then I can divide my miles by gallons=mpg. Sometimes I can run all day with no AC on, but in Summer I run my generator and all 3 AC's if needed. The computers do not compensate! I generally get an avg. of 6.1 with gen on. I have a 150 gallon tank, but fill around 600 miles/90+/- gal. In July I took 112 gallons in Abilene, TX.& that is pushing it as my gen will shut off at a quarter tank, 37 gal. You do not want to do that in Texas, in July! Carl
  23. LOL! Monty. Your doing the right thing...please let us know how it works out. Carl
