oneway, I cant chime in on if he did it correct or not. I will say I had a Dometic unit (non heat pump type) starting to fail before (grinding sound from the compressor) and I upgraded to a 15,000 btu unit for $550.00 in parts, (bought it at PPL motorhomes in TX had it shipped to PA) took me 30-45 minutes to install myself. Before throwing good money at the old one I figured it was my best bet as the unit at the time was 16 years old.

Can you just jump in, key in your destination and roll? -
15W40. I buy either Mobile Delvac or Shell Rotella, depending on the best deal.

I have heard great reviews on the Garmin RV GPS. Bill, curious...how long does it take for you to prep for a trip? -
I was thinking the same, in a controlled environment i.e. shop manufacturing plant it would be simple with overhead cable, however I can almost say this with certainty, no dealer/shop would ever make the investment for harnesses and the tie off running the building span, let alone keeping it current with compliance and certifications, RV manufacture I am guessing they are equipped, truck body companies are. In your driveway or at a CG there is nothing up on the roof that wouldn't come off with you on the way down and would most likely create a tripping hazard while up on the roof. I usually crawl as my purpose is to inspect the roof with rubber/Kevlar gloves and sneakers on my feet for traction.

Smokeater75, sorry to hear of this, that's sad, he's my age, I can't imagine! I can relate to your fire fighter experience. I was a volunteer firefighter from 1988-1996 fire police from 1996-2009. I fell through a floor and landed on my air pack in 1990, young and dumb I jumped up and shook it off, probably should have had it checked, never right after. Then fell off the roof at home (garage roof 9' up) in 2001, landed in a sitting position on top of the ladder, my left leg still has a knot of scar tissue and I think that was the final straw for my back, pretty sure I am running out of free passes from above. I am overly cautious now when climbing anything. Too bad I was a slow learner in my younger years

I wash ours at home before and after each trip (depending how much dirt it accumulated from sitting). I use a foam cannon on a pressure washer to soak it down, horse hair brush and just a regular hose to rinse. I have it hand waxed one a year (roof included) at a CG that has the mobile crew going through. If dirty along the way and it was already waxed I have a mobile crew do it again while parked at a CG. I don't like driving a dirty vehicle. I hand polish my wheels 2x a year, they are coated and look like a mirror when done, I use a foam ball on a cordless drill to do so with a high quality mag wheel polish designed for clear coated wheels.

It seems like the older Monaco products have the entire coach running through the inverter, ours is that way also with the exception of one outlet behind the refrigerator that is not tied in to the inverter (there are two behind the refrigerator). My friends Tiffin has inverter outlets throughout and regular outlets, different color, looks like a hospital room inside . Our 120v side of the Aqua hot will also run on inverter, I keep that off until connected to a Tower as the engine heats the water anyway. Once we are all connected I switch the diesel and 120v on. Herman, is your coach set up like that also?

Kay, looks great! I found this in my phone when we camped together last summer.
-
Great advice, I hadn't thought about that.

If full on coolant as Kay mentioned, check the belt. I saw one do the very same thing (overtemp code) and it never warmed up to be actually hot. I never dug into how but it puzzled me.

That would be neat!

1999 Monaco Dynasty Duchess 32ft With 350hp Cummins & 6 Speed
jleamont replied to Meangreen06's topic in Buying an RV
If it was well taken care of i.e. engine fluids changed when needed etc...I wouldn't hesitate. I would strongly recommend replacing engine rubber hoses, hydraulic hoses and such as time would be their enemy. What you save on the purchase price and the non-emissions engine draining your wallet you could put into it and make it very dependable. They just don't build them like the use to!- 3 replies

I prefer electric brakes, but they do cost more and are more difficult to up fit the coach with a brake controller. I believe you will find most dollies with brakes are hydraulic.

Carl, you in the perfect spot to ask for help troubleshooting this

Got the tile, adhesive and flex grout is on order. Getting excited, until I actually have to install it

I tried the 303 on my coach tires, I will admit I will not do that again. My tires now have a brown sludge residue on them that wont wash off. You can scrape it off with your finger nail and If they do crack you wont be able to see it through the sludge. Its so bad when you take the wheels off even after washing and cleaning, your hands turn brown and slimy . I will look into the Meguiar's product for the new tires I have on order.

Mike, snap a picture of the exhaust exit and the toad tire and post it. I'm curious how far apart they are and is the toad tire in a direct path? I have heard of that before but it was on a coach with a Diesel Particulate Filter (hotter exhaust output).
