Welcome to the FMCA Forum! Very nice coach!

Nice set up! Good idea on the fire suppression system. Carl, my Club Car topped out at 28 MPH. I put upgraded brakes on all 4 wheels, lights turn signals, horn windshield and wipers, seat belts and and DOT tires. We went with the Club Car at the time as it had the aluminum frame which made me think it would last longer.

Kay, I believe they still do build the most Fire Truck chassis. I cannot recall ever working on a fire truck that wasn't sitting on a Spartan and there were many of them. Different set up but none the less a very trusted company. When the sirens are blazing and the adrenaline is flowing those chassis go through a beating, they took it!

Keon, I believe its all where you are parked that is the concern. There is a campground in VA on RT13 just before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel that we would frequent every year. When you went there if it wasn't bolted down it was a risk for theft, coolers, bicycles, grills, you name it was a target. I was convinced it was the staff stealing everything, there was no way in my mind that on such a regular occurrence you could have that many "bad eggs" in the same place all throughout the season. Since they have security on patrol, and at the entrance 24/7 it seemed fishy to me. Needless to say we haven't been back, while I have never had anything taken you heard about it everyday. My tow bar is always locked to the coach. With my background and training I can sense when trouble is in the air, when I get that feeling I pull the electrical cord and air hose off the back and they go into the basement (my safety chains are attached to the tow bar by design), and most stuff will remain locked down in the basement, at night the chairs get folded and put away and most if not all of the site gets broken down. Short trips we don't put much out anyway. I would say other than that place mentioned above I don't get that feeling often. I can assure you I analyze the staff from the moment I step in the door to the people as we head back to park the coach, just cant help it.

Carl, DP or Gas coach, the dash heat works the same way other than how it gets vacuum. Get your infrared thermometer and see if the heater hoses are warm, make sure both are, that will tell you water/coolant is circulating through the heater core and back to the engine. If both are warm/hot (obviously make sure the engine is up to operating temperature) she most likely has a blend door problem. If one is hot and the other is cold or both are cold there could be a blockage, the blockage could be either a clogged heater core or a valve somewhere shut off as Brett Mentioned. Look closely for valves up front or in my case they are on the engine where the heater hoses connect. Has she had heat before? You mentioned she hasn't had this coach long.. If it worked before look around the engine, I have bumped mine partially closed while servicing it just from reaching around in the engine bay. If memory serves me.....the heater hoses on a CAT C7 come out just behind the starter, which would be on the passenger side of the coach, maybe warmed up crawl under and see if they are hot first. You know the drill, make sure the coach is in a safe position blocked......

I replaced ours at the end of last year, due to age. I bought this one (link below). One is mounted low and the other is mounted mid way up the wall. I put this model in the same location the factory had them placed. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/35-series-dual-lp-carbon-monoxide-alarm-black/70012 Here is a good article on why placement is important http://www.carbonmonoxidedetectorplacement.com/

Dometic New Dimensions Refer #NDR1292
jleamont replied to R_nilsen@msn.com's topic in Systems and Appliances
We had a Dometic Americana in the last coach. It was original, 1998 worked flawlessly for the 7-8 years we had it. Thetford/Norcold should stick to toilets, they manage waste well . -

We used to lease one car, when the DW would rack up mileage (back then they were minivans), so I didn't have to deal with them being worn out in year 4, at year 2 1/2 I would walk in hand them the keys, walk out in the lot and pick out another, sign on the line and leave (I would bake in the extra mileage up front). None of the toads we have had accumulate mileage while in tow, if that happens something is not shut down.

I agree, if you have multiple Front wheel drive cars, or are utilizing a golf cart and car, the Dolly is the best option. We started out with one, at the time it was the cheapest option and with the car we had it worked. At the time I found a Demco Kar Kaddy SS used (needed some TLC) and I think I spent $250.00 for it. Two tires, fenders and lights later we were on the road. It was equipped with Surge brakes, while they were a little jerky but they worked.

Sometimes you are grateful for things you considered doing and never did. I almost didn't buy our coach because it only had Air leveling. I priced out having it converted to Hydraulic, $8500.00 . Told DW no way, look for another coach. When the dealer pulled it onto a hill and manually leveled it (auto didn't work) I was impressed so we bought it. Looking back, glad I did.

Strats, while the signals are off do you happen to notice the signal indicator (arrows) on the dash are dim? This has happed to our HR at least 3 times in two years. I was loosing the ground at the receptacle, it happed to three of the four receptacles. My dash arrows would glow dim when the signals were not in use, when they were turned on nothing would happen, the dim light would go out. FYI, one of them was already replaced right before we bought it for the same problem.

Our last coach looked like that after a Low voltage condition at a CG. Ironically that is the same Transfer switch in our current coach, but it doesn't look like that.

HAHA, not picking on Joe, teaching Joe Day, think positive Carl.....geese . We all drink the water at home, runs through a filter on the door of the refrigerator. Its City Water, not from a well. Our last coach we drank the water, I had a separate spigot on the sink for drinking water with a filter under the counter. Bill, unfortunately we eat out often while traveling. While it is enjoyable its expensive. We also like to grocery shop while traveling, stuff you can get in most parts of the US you cannot buy in the NE . Now class are we consuming enough fluoride and microbes? There is going to be a quiz on this later

We cook with it, since its boiling its ok. I use ice cube trays we fill in the coach with spring water. Carl, I agree on the rocks...wonder where those cubes came from ...some people .
-
Bill, we sanitize ours, I have an inline filter and do not drink it either. Did for a while then..... lets just say we all spent a lot of time sitting down . DW buys spring water by the gallon we keep one cold, one room temp (for Keurig coffee maker) and spares under the dinette. I drink probably 1.5 gallons of water a day so an alternative would be nice but not worth the risk. I will most likely buy a filter pitcher this year to keep in the refrigerator.
