Alternator & A/C Pulley Not Lining Up After Replacing Brushes
desertdeals69 replied to Losciuto's topic in Engines
Try putting a straight edge on the face of the alt pulley and see how it lines up with the crank pulley. Its possible that the alt is slightly twisted giving the illusion that it is not in line. -
No break in required. They are loose and are moving to the light spot. Once it is balanced they stay in that spot until you stop or the balance changes.

I installed beads in May 17 and drove about 5k miles this summer and they work good. I never went over 75 mph and they were smooth. Valve stems have filters on them and I have solid extensions on the inner duals.

Anybody Going To The RV Show In Quartzsite Jan 2018?

FMCA normally has a booth at Quartzite. I worked it back in the 80s. -
I had my coach repaired at Freightliner in Gaffney 3 weeks ago and I am happy with the outcome, my transmission shifting problem was solved. I knew what the problem was, a broken wire, but lacked the skills to reprogram both computers. On my way home to Az my compressor would not shut off and the safety valve kept opening. It was on the weekend but I called Freightliner and was told incorrect information on the routing of the 1/4 in lines. I thought I knew better but tried to go on their recommendations. They told me that my dryer was plugged. Wasted a lot of time trouble shooting. Woke up at 3:30 Monday morning and called tech help again thinking I should get a different tech. I did and he was just as confused. I asked if he could email me a schematic of the air system and he said he would. None ever came. At 7:00 Monday morning I called a local truck parts and repair service in Cookeville Tn and spoke to a mechanic. I asked for a complete description of the air system and he answered all my questions including that he had all the parts that I would need. Determined that the modulator was bad to I drove 7 miles to the shop and bought a new one. $11.25 and 20 minutes later I was good to go. I bought a second one to have as a spare as suggested on the forum. My conclusion is that the tech help that Freightliner has on the weekend is not the ones you want to talk to.

I go every year. I live in Lk Havasu City about 80 miles to the north. -
How clean is the radiator and charge air cooler? Has it ever been steam cleaned. I saw a friend of mine have his radiator steam cleaned at Freightliner 3 weeks ago and it corrected his overheating.

I have 6 AGMs in a similar situation. I built the rack to hold the batteries so there is no hold downs required. It is open to the engine compartment. I don't see a need for boxes.

My misunderstanding. I toured Freightliner in Gaffney a few weeks ago and they were talking about the fewer wires in the harnesses on current coaches because of the new design. I think they called it multiplexing. They talked like it was rather new so I didn't think it would apply to a 9 year old coach.

I always transfer my Tire Minder transmitters from my Silverado to my tow dolly and the rear of my Prius.

Look at the 1/4 inch lines coming from each tank to a manifold near the steering and see if there is any loose or cracked connections. The low pressure warning sender is on a manifold in that area. I think the tubing is yellow.

Check for a common ground that is bad -
I talked to David at Commercial Truck Parts and does he know his stuff. The first thing he said is he never works on motorhomes. I said I didn't want him to work on it but just explain how all the air lines go and which ones had pressure. He did and I trouble shot my system and determined it was the D2 modulator. 20 minutes to change it. Thanks
-
Thanks for telling me about Commercial Truck Parts. They had the knowledge and the parts. What threw me off track was the misinformation that I got from Freightliner. They told me the sense line came from the dryer and if I didn't have pressure there the dryer was plugged up. Totally wrong. Thanks to everyone for assistance with my problem.
-
Brett you were right, it was the D2. What threw me off was that Freightliner told me the sense line came from the dryer, I didn't think that was right. I was able to talk to a local truck repair shop and the mechanic knew all about the air system. He explained how it all worked so when I did my test it pointed to the governor. I bought one from them and installed it in their parking lot and it worked. I went and bought a second one for a spare. Cost was $11.25 each.

Tom, how many batteries do you have? I would think they would last more than overnight. Have you put a switch on the auto defrost wire? That is a dead short when on and some come on every 8 hours. You don't need to be defrosting while boon docking.

I use trailer duty tires two sizes larger, went from 13 inch wheels to 14 inch wheels.
-
I just talked to Freightliner and they seem to think that something is plugged up in the dryer as there is no pressure in the 1/4 inch sense line. Thanks for all the help guys.
-
Thanks Brett. I found the reg on the intake side of the comp. I took the top 1/4 inch line loose and started the eng and no air. I can't tell where the line goes but there is one on the bottom edge of the dryer. Took the line off and started the eng and no air out of the fitting. Took the fitting out of the housing and cleaned out some small particles, put it back together and still no air when eng running. I will call Freightliner in the morning.

My air pressure pegs the gauges. Safety valve (150psi) is releasing air. Where is the regulator? I'm broke down in a Lowe's parking lot in Cookeville Tn. 1998 Freightliner ISB, Fleetwood Discovery.

Does it have a regular plug that divides into two outlets?
