  1. I guess its like which is better, Ford or Chevy. I have sold both PI and SG and they both do the job if they are working OK. They both have failures and both are covered with warranty. I use SG without issues and I think we see a little better service from SG.
  2. If it is Thinlite the ballast is a circuit board hidden in the center.
  3. Nothing is added to the tires. Centramatics go on before the front wheel and between the rear duals.
  4. The accumulator for rvs does not come with air pre charge. The air in the chamber is compressed with the water. In a home/farm unit, the tank has a rubber bladder which on the air side a predetermined amount of air pressure. This is used with a well pump.
  5. I've used Centramatics for 10 years, 110,000 miles, with success.
  6. Isolators do lower voltage so they are not the best way to hook both banks together. Using a solenoid would not lower the charge voltage.
  7. What they don't understand is the amount of money we spend if we spend a night in Walmart parking lot. Also the amount of money spent on fuel, restaurants, etc. I understand that Illinois state is against overnight parking so we don't stop if we have to go through the state and will not spend a dime for anything. Its a two way street and if they don't allow us to park then we won't spend any money there.
  8. The ones I'm familiar with that have been used in rvs we've worked on in the last 40 years seem to be smaller in diameter and shorter that home units with bigger ballasts. Most of them are made by Thin Lite.
  9. The only problem with dual panes is the windshield which is massive is only single pane.
  10. We always use the Thousand Trails campgrounds on the Or and Wa coasts. There are four in Or and two in Wa. Going to spend this summer at all of them.
  11. We stayed on 101 where 1 started because I thought it wouldn't be as safe and I have a 32 foot diesel pusher with a Silverado toad.
  12. You need to have a device such as a Surge Guard to determine if the power is ok. It checks several things before connecting your coach.
  13. If you use a Road Relay or similar you can tell you mpg instantly as you are driving. You can switch settings and not only tell the mpg but also the percentage of throttle setting when using cruise.
  14. Since you are retired why the rush? To do a trip like you plan I would take at least 12 weeks, that's the beauty of the rv lifestyle.
  15. You need to get the specs from the different mfgr and see what fits.
  16. Years ago when we went skiing and were parked in a snow bank, I got some 1/2 inch styrofoam sheets and cut out pieces that would just fit into the window frames and the windshield (the largest glass area). It reduced my propane usage by 1/2 and the furnace would cycle and still maintain close to 70 with the outside about 0-10. I cut the stryofoam with an electric kitchen knife.
  17. In 98 they went to electronic engines, my ISB Cummins has over 800 lb/ft of torque. That size engine was used in 32-37 foot coaches.
  18. I use my on board air because it is run through the drier and is clean. Also powers my 3/4 inch impact wrench for changing tires. If you use a portable compressor be sure to use a drier.
  19. Why don't you use the same standard judging Banks as K&N? We have done warranty repair for Banks at there request with failures that happen to be in our area near our shop. They paid quickly.
  20. I hope you don't have far to go because the dolly will jump like a jack rabbit because of no suspension and no weight on it.
  21. That test was done with the old filter media some years ago and when Spires toured the K&N test facility more recently he came away with a little different conclusion. Just call K&N and they will give you the test data.
  22. We have been in windy situations like that before. We just use caution when opening the door and if we are moving I head the direction into the wind to minimize the effect.
  23. With respect to the overnight parking, I would like to see pull through sites of at least 65 feet long because usually when we stop for the night we don't unhook. It wouldn't need to be paved, just level. If electric was available charge extra, like $5 if used. I would consider electric a luxury and would not use it unless it was too hot and we needed ac. Thanks for letting me voice my thoughts.
